Masons techniques from half guard were were very clean. Luke honestly looked for that same explosive knee cut over and over and even got swept for it. That dog fight sequence that led to his guillotine attempt at the end of regulation was beautiful. If no points were involved and it went to judges i definitely think a strong case could be made for Mason.
Appreciate your input. It was certainly a highly competitive match with a lot of exciting exchanges. Thanks for checking it out and dropping a comment!
Good match, always love seeing mason on the match he's a beast. As for the ref calls oh well shit happens they are both insanely talented. More mason kleinfeld content!! 😂
Thank for your understanding. Excited to see more of him on our stage. As soon as we’re done putting out Summer Showdown content we’ll go back to posting Summer Open content and you better believe some of those 4 sub finishes he had will be hitting the channel! 🎥🔥
Thanks for checking it out and dropping a comment. It was truly a great match. Two evenly matched competitors and it could’ve gone either way. Excited to have both of them on our events.
As the referee on the mat, I agree. We do issue a single warning for no grip guard pulls, second instance it would score as a penalty against the offender and the match would be over since it was sudden death OT. I knew the way I wanted to call it and for whatever reason I froze. By the time I collected my thoughts it was too late. I should have stood both athletes up and issued a warning to Mason. I know it’s not an excuse but ultimately I should not be out there refereeing when I’m event running. Sleep deprived, stressed, and overwhelmed, I could hardly say my own name right, let alone be sharp enough to officiate a match. I messed up and I apologize to both athletes, coaches, and all of the fans for not being at my best. Fortunately I was only forced to referee this one match and Referee Jordan Butler did an amazing job in the rest.
Props to you for standing by your guy. Excited to see him take another stab on our pro stage. As far as the leg lock threat, I’d love to play that game 😈🦵🏻🔒 Cheers!
I understand you're contesting the final call, but I think saying that Mason "should" have won is incorrect as well. I'm open to the idea that I may have made a mistake and that there maybe shouldn't have been a score at the end of the match, but I don't think anybody could contest that there should have been a score for Mason in that exchange. The no-grips guard pull at the beginning of OT is another point of contention. That either should have scored 2 for Luke or the athletes should have been reset on the feet with a guard pull warning issued to Mason. I didn't get it all right in this one and I'm reviewing all point scoring scenarios from the event to build a better understanding of the way I want the rules executed in the future. Thanks for watching the match and dropping a comment.
@@subspectrumbjj hey, at least you're open to the idea of it and also admitting that you may have made a mistake. At the end of the day, we are all human, mistakes can happen.
@@Sean-tj5cu I appreciate the understanding, man. We're never going to get them all right, but our goal is to get as many of them right as possible. I want to make sure athletes and coaches feel heard and that there are open lines of communication to discuss these kinds of calls and create better understanding by all parties.

seems like a bs scoring system, the blue belt should have one.
