I like the DR82, always was an H10 fan boy but they went downhill after Mars started producing them rather than Bacharach. One gripe I have on the DR82 is the charge port, it's not a very secure connection if you have to charge and use it at the same time.

The system does not need to be running but you do need to have sufficient refrigerant pressure to sniff the leak. If you come to a system without any refrigerant at all, you would need to pressurize the system with nitrogen, but then you need to use a different leak detector as nitrogen is an inert gas and will not be detected by this leak detector.
haha yes, I'm working on that. It's hard to make videos while I'm trying to learn from my dad/brother and be safe and sometimes in bad weather. I try to include footage of me actually working in my weekly vlogs, but I plan on doing more "hands on" videos when I have more experience in the trade.

Thanks for the information on the DR82. I have the Fieldpiece SLR2... works great but i think i will pick up a DR82 to compare.
Good choice! I've used a few other brands and the DR82 is by far the best, most accurate and reliable.
