Long ago there was an sd40 fugitive loco from Union Pacific. All the other trains loved him. All the workers did too. After his few days of service, they kept using it so much because they loved him. But one tragic evening, After starting the 1000 horsepower engine, He ran away. Then kept running until one day, He was lost and hit a siding, He exploded! All his crew and his other train friends were sad, and then the funeral director engine pulled him to scrap. After they scraped him, they left him in a grassy field and let him slowly die and rot away. Then the crew remembered all the memories of their sd40 fugitive. Even his death memory. Maybe one day, Union Pacific will find him on his deathbed and may revive him to roll once again. May the sd40 fugitive Rest In Peace. Goodbye old friend. See you in the afterlife. 😢
I could hear him begging not to leave him there. He has no one to talk to out and continues to beg the Conrail engine to come back. The Conrail engine continues on his way turning a deaf ear to sd40's pleas for him not to leave him there. Sd40 continues to plead until the Conrail engine is out of sight. To the Conrail engine, he was hired to do a job, it was done and he goes on his way. It was nothing personal. The sd40 cries himself to sleep every night. 😢 sd40 grew so lonely that in the end, the Union Pacific Angels took him for their own special friend. Then comes the day when wakes up and he is bright, shiny and new just like the day he came off the assembly line. He was such a good engine that he went to the place that all good engines go after they die of loneliness, Union Pacific Heaven. He is now doing what he loves most, with the workers who went before him. He is once again happy and he will always be happy. 😊
@@Railfanner121 OH, I forgot about his friends, his buddies who went before him to Union Pacific Heaven. Yes he will be reunited with them as well. When I watch the video as sd40 is being towed and I know he crying then because he knows this does not look good to him, but I see where he is thinking of the time when he was bright and shiny. It looked as though he played with a Conrail Engine. He was running the rails as though he was playing tag with a Conrail engine. Did he play with engines that worked for other Rail Roads? I would hate think that one of his former playmates would be the one who towed him to his final resting place. If you wish to call it that. I do hope it was a Conrail who was not a friend of his. The saddest part of the video, when the camera pulls back and you see just how alone sd40 is, sitting in that field. There is nothing around the house just maybe occupied; I did see animals in the field and smoke coming from the chimney. The Great Union Pacific Engine said it was time for sd40 to come home and be with his friends. That is where he sent The Union Pacific Angels for sd40.

The up sd40-2 she was a great engine all the crews an railfans we're happy to see it the horn and bell were vary outstanding but as time went on the RR started to not take care of her and nature did. She began to get rust on the side started to become less reliable. All the railfans and crews treated it like any other locomotive and then she became strong enough and fast enough she ran away down the tracks and finally she ran to the siding and crashed after all of us really love the engine the end. (Insert sad music) love the video BTW
u have plans making an alternative or sequel version of this incident down the road sometime where a lone Southern Pacific SD40, or maybe like a 4 or 7 unit lash-up of SP SD40's, becoming an unmanned runaway ???????
Backstory: the up sd40 was intended to be scrapped but was stored in a siding, untouched. The sacrifice locomotive was to be repaired but stored in a railyard.

What’s worse is they’re not scraping him, he’s being left to rot and die

The older you are, the sadder this gets. The day of retirement.
