I like how they made Jesse’s principles very clear throughout the show. His little brother, the kid in Spooge’s house, Toahmas, Brock and Drew Sharp. He will do anything for you and remain loyal. But when kids are involved and get hurt he will stand against you.

I never understood why Walter ran over the drug dealers but after rewatching season 3 for the billionth time I have a theory…
Walter is terrible at receiving advice.
Gus told Walter, “Never make the same mistake twice.” What mistake could Walter be beating himself up over at this point in the story? The night Jane died. He gave Jesse the money knowing it wasn’t a good idea. He didn’t protect Jesse which led to the death of Jane and Jesse hitting rock bottom.
Mike told Walter, “No more half measures.” Keeping the mistake in mind, Walter is going to take “full measures” to ensure Jesse’s safety. So that’s why he runs (or drives) to Jesse’s defense. He never wants to let Jesse go again and we see that moving forward. He’s threatened when Gus is turning Jesse against him, he manipulates Jesse to help him kill Gus, and doesn’t give Jesse his 5 million dollars in hopes Jesse will stay and cook with him.
Walter until his last breath never makes the mistake of not protecting Jesse and takes the ultimate full measure in ensuring Jesse walks out of this universe alive.
