    The Mike Douglas Show
    May 25, 1973
The "Special Assistant to the Chairman of the President's Council on Environmental Quality-Mrs. Shirley Temple Black" joins Mike and his guests Tony Bennett, Muhammad Ali, 20-year-old Lorna Luft (Judy Garland's daughter) and Corbett Monica. Shirley discusses missing out on the role of Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz", her visit to Moscow, the Bolshoi Ballet and an intense conversation about her 1972 mastectomy. At the end, Tony Bennett sings "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" to honor her.
Shirley is charming and chuckly and clearly loves a funny story. This video was digitized from a 1974 broadcast tape and is varying in color, with fuzzy sound in spots. I edited out the one minute commercial break cards. I remember this episode when it originally aired-maybe you do, too. Enjoy!
