Just the video I was looking for. I have a few large plumbing patches that need to be repaired. I like your technique but I think I'm still going to hire someone. 😅

Learned a ton from this video! Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
I'm thinking you folks are friends of the poster, or you've never seen vancouver carpenter. Anyway, this guy covers some good points, such as putting screws in the existing board. As many as in the new board. One thing I would recommend to the new DIYer out there, which this guy is not, is you might think twice about reusing the drywall. If you re -cut farther a 7:08 way from the outlet you won't have to finish next to it. A newby might leave a hump there that the face plate won't cover. This guy is good, but his skill was learned over time. If you're a newby, watch more vids.
Bloody awesome - huge respect from Australia!
Thank you for subscribing many other videos on the channel
I have some scrap sheets of drywall screwed it to some 2x4 going to do some practicing on it with 5 minute mud.
if u need to practice with 5 maybe just use joint compound quickset muds more pro grade mud

Awesome video! Do you have any videos on how to price these jobs? Or know where I could find that sort of information?
you can call your local drywaller to get prices. i dont discuss prices as prices change in my field on demand and time of year and location from me
What was the spray glue used?
optional just 3m glue to tack hold fiberglass in place not needed i just use it
many videos on channel show why i use this so ul see by watching more videos, thanks for subscribing
Is there a way to mud the seams if a cut piece to keep original paint and texture? I’m an electrician and have to cut drywall. I’m looking for a way to repair drywall using the cut piece and just to mud the seams. If that makes sense
You're going to have to add backing install the original piece of sheetrock you have to always tape and you always have to cope you can just mud over it you have to tape the seams with the fiberglass mesh tape I have over 100 videos showing how to patch so watch a few videos so you know the process there's no other way
Good job
Thanks
Hell yeah. True master.
Thanks for subscribing
What compound did you use? For the texture pattern
All textures use all purpose joint compounds
What’s was the name of the hot mud compound you used
any mud compound sold at stores, i have materila playlist that shows materials i use several videos
He made it look so easy. Ok, let's do it. BRB , going to Home Depot 😂😂
THANKS FOR SUBSCRIBING MANY VIDEOS ON CHANNEL
If I'm not using hot mud I would skip the sponge step and sand instead, correct?
Yes
Maybe it’s just me but I feel like the top and bottom horizontal joints should have had some backing to strengthen the joints. Seems like a big span for rough joints. Also never ever recommend premixed compound for bedding in mesh tape. It’s fine for top coat but mesh has a tendency to crack if hot mud isn’t used for the first coat
this job done years ago never cracked yet sure you can add backing but 16 inch patch ok with stud each side if over 24 maybe needs extra
How would this be done if I have to replace the section of baseboard too?
remove base board prior then
Is the mud the same thing as that dry wall repair thingy that come in the container? can’t think of the name
yes joint compounds
Very impressive, although the sound was very low
The few times I do repairs I keep forgetting the sponge trick soon after laying down the first coat then it becomes too hard to work with 🙄
all hot muda have to be slicked out every coat before they dry , this is not like reg joint compounds that u said in between
well i cant speak loud in peoples home turn up ur volume
My guy definitely worked with Mexicans at some point, beautiful work 👌👌
Appreciate that
I did a small patch on my wall at home, about 1' square. Now that I'm done, ive noticed i have a slight bulge around the bits i went over with tape. Does patching the wall mean i have to bring a large area of the wall around the patch out to make it look flush?
yep float out i have 100 videos showing this view videos
How long did you wait between coats?
well depends on type mud u use, if using joint compound, its over night
@@drywallrepair thanks! I have a small project in my garage this weekend. I’m replacing broken/cracked drywall that I’ve been putting off for a while.
@95Eg6SoCal great
i work in tract homes and when i touch up the garages on occasion the drywall bubbles after i spray texture... why is that?
dust texture does not like to stick to dust especially old dust or if drywall be sanded a lot then texture only
Watching this makes me feel like I can go patch my new dry wall hole from a leak repair 😂
MANY OTHER VIDEOS ON CHANNEL WATCH A FEW
@@drywallrepair yes, I'm compulsively watching them
Nice job, recording was in low volume, tried turning all the way up, still could barely hear
Sorry about that
many other newer videos this old video old camera
Why no mud under the tape?
hotmuds strike in thru fiber mesh hotmuds dont crack like joint componds
How much this will cost if I hire someone?
call for estimate i dont know what they charge in ur area
base rate 200-300 depends where your located on basic patch like this
This looks like a good video, but the sound is low and hard to hear. Thanks
Old camera old video
In homeowners house
What can you do when there is no wood to drill the drywall to?
Add wood 1x2
@@drywallrepair ty sm!
I think the whole wall should have been done to hide the marks
they didnt pay to do the whole wall no marks perfect match once painted
oh ok they were cheap-skates...beautiful skip-trowel technique btw
patch blended in, if i did entire wall i would have to skim out entire wall before texture it
is this the "drywall whisperer"? speak up!
Old camera and yes I'm working in people's homes with the homeowner and other room so I can only talk so much on these videos that I'm not voicing over most of the newer videos are voiced over the older ones are done in clients homes while talking
I hear him just fine clean your ears 😅
You’re being shy, be loud. They like watching and hearing you do it 😉
All jokes aside though, I was watching while connected to a BT speaker at 50% volume and I heard everything very clearly.
