    I'm thinking you folks are friends of the poster, or you've never seen vancouver carpenter. Anyway, this guy covers some good points, such as putting screws in the existing board. As many as in the new board. One thing I would recommend to the new DIYer out there, which this guy is not, is you might think twice about reusing the drywall. If you re -cut farther a 7:08 way from the outlet you won't have to finish next to it. A newby might leave a hump there that the face plate won't cover. This guy is good, but his skill was learned over time. If you're a newby, watch more vids.

    Is there a way to mud the seams if a cut piece to keep original paint and texture? I’m an electrician and have to cut drywall. I’m looking for a way to repair drywall using the cut piece and just to mud the seams. If that makes sense

    • @drywallrepair
      @drywallrepair  10 місяців тому +4

      You're going to have to add backing install the original piece of sheetrock you have to always tape and you always have to cope you can just mud over it you have to tape the seams with the fiberglass mesh tape I have over 100 videos showing how to patch so watch a few videos so you know the process there's no other way

    If I'm not using hot mud I would skip the sponge step and sand instead, correct?

  • @romozz1694
    @romozz1694 Місяць тому +2

    Maybe it’s just me but I feel like the top and bottom horizontal joints should have had some backing to strengthen the joints. Seems like a big span for rough joints. Also never ever recommend premixed compound for bedding in mesh tape. It’s fine for top coat but mesh has a tendency to crack if hot mud isn’t used for the first coat

    • @drywallrepair
      @drywallrepair  Місяць тому +1

      this job done years ago never cracked yet sure you can add backing but 16 inch patch ok with stud each side if over 24 maybe needs extra

    I did a small patch on my wall at home, about 1' square. Now that I'm done, ive noticed i have a slight bulge around the bits i went over with tape. Does patching the wall mean i have to bring a large area of the wall around the patch out to make it look flush?
