- Target seems to be trying out a new strategy to reverse the spending pullback by shoppers. They plan on lowering prices for thousands of essential items ranging from diapers to milk. FOX 5 NY's Teresa Priolo takes a closer look at how they hope this will improve their bottom line.

Cost of an item is $5, they mark it up to $10 and have a "SALE" of 40% off.

They can certainly afford that with how little they pay their employees and how they cut corners. Worked at Target for a short period of time, and it was hell. Wage and hour violations, safety violations, managers physically grabbing employees and yelling at employees in front of customers, they cut our hours down to almost nothing and still expected us to complete the same workload, and "pay raises" of 8 pennies were given to all employees. Complaints to corporate went unaddressed, meaning the company endorses such behavior. Will never give my money to a company like that.....even with lower prices.
We'll increase prices by 500%, then reduce it by 50%!
That was the plan. It's all psychological manipulation, to have shoppers be so grateful after years of price gouging, they'll be happy to pay anything.

@@ChrisXperinceI used to like shopping at target and best buy because they used sell a bunch of cds and physical copies of movies. I still buy and only support physical media for movies, music and video games. I don't support any form of streaming and digital content since the streaming quality is inferior and compressed compared to the physical versions that offer superior quality and with little to no compression. The only compression is based on what the artist is required by the music labels and corporations because they want to cut corners in order to make a quick buck. There are videos on youtube that the artist mentions that they are required by record labels and sound engineers in order to meet the needs of the music labels. It's why spotify is barely paying there artist and certain artists are removing there music from streaming services because the artist knows that they are barely getting paid much for there hard work. It's already worse now that ai is being talked about so much entering 2024 like it's the end all be all when scammers already have access to ai and smartphones. For watching youtube videos, I only use the modded version of youtube to bypass the ads and bypass the sponsors in the youtube videos.
I went in this past weekend, it had been years. The prices are too high and will continue to go to Walmart & Aldi.
This is how you know they’ve been price gauging us the entire time. They could have dropped prices or kept them the same the entire time. I say take them out of buisness 🤷🏽♂️

Big businesses do it for the sake of doing and little consequences because they have monopoly. Small businesses are do it because they are forced to raise wages and barely stay afloat. It all calculated to be this way.
If target can afford to lower the price as they are claiming then what was the profit margin before this sudden case of corporate generosity. It begs the question don't you think.

I work in the grocery business and trust me when I tell you target is just more expensive than. They’re just cutting back the profit margin on certain items that will bring people in the store but once you’re there you end up buying something else that they upped the margin on all evens out at the

Lidl is slightly more expensive than Aldi but has a slightly bigger selection.

I stopped going to Target long time ago because of poor quality and high prices. I shop at Walmart, Aldi and Marshalls instead.
I don't buy stuff unless it's a loss leader or heavily discounted with sales plus coupons.

Target sells higher quality stuff than Walmart. Ever buy a bedsheet or comforter from Walmart it’s like sandpaper. I hope target doesn’t go that route.

Are trying outrageous shipping cost for product's they're crazy nobody's paying that.
Near me, Target is either comparable or cheaper than Walmart now. Honestly, the prices aren't that bad in Chicagoland. I don't spend too much, but thankfully, I shop mostly for myself. Hopefully, every brand will continue with this push to lower prices.

Target lost its audience not just due to high pricing in the store but when you need to price match off their site- who has time for that nonsense? If a retailer has the time and money to pay someone to keep prices higher in store and cheaper to order online then I don't think they are suffering too much. They are probably finally matching their online prices in store anyway which still isn't a great savings.
This is price correction after price gouging. I'm seeing the same thing at BJs. BJs would keep raising everything by a dollar every few months since the pandemic. A box of DiGiorno's pizza went from $10 to $20 in two years. No one bought it, so they're sneaking the price back down.

Corporate profit from 2020 to 2023 has almost tripled to 1.5X in only three years, but from 2012 to 2019, corporate profit only grew by half of a percent. There is no longer a supply chain issue, yet they keep increasing prices.
They use the pandemic and the supply chain disruptions as excuses to raise prices and keep them high, even though those issues have long been resolved.
Not everything is about politics. This is not inflation it's Greedflation
