To be honest, for a moment I thought this might be another UA-camr doing a book reveal/show; derivative. But no, it was absolutely fresh, authentic and original. Very, very well done. Please do more such!
Thanks for the kind words. I’m not about unoriginality over here!
Remarkable video. The tone, the pacing and the music work so well with the universe of the book. Great work
Glad you enjoyed it!
The crawling bugs was a nice touch.
Here's something interesting. I have searched for photography related content on UA-cam for a couple years. Never came across your page. Two days ago I deleted all but 50 of my subscriptions. Only then was your page suggested to me. This is exactly what I've been looking for, less interested in only gear focused content, but more about the process and getting turned on to other photographers. You do a great job on your pieces. You create a wonderful vide with your choice of music and your pacing. And I've already discovered a couple of photographers that I love, Mark Steinmetz for one, and now this Curran Hatelberg. This is what I love about Alec Soth's channel, but his uploads are less frequent than I can consume.
Thank you! Glad you found the channel. New video soon too 🤘🏻
Bryan, it was great to hear Curran's own words talking about the project and how driving was at the root of his journey. Thank you, as always.
Thanks, Diane. I’ll probably talk a little about it myself in the future but for this it just seemed right to have only his words and thoughts.
A lot of similarities between his work and my own. I can only hope to get on his level with understanding people and the nuance around them.
@@BryanBirks It's interesting you say that because, as I was listening to him, I felt there were similarities also in some of the how's and why's.
I waited for my copy to arrive before watching this video and I'm glad I did.
I genuinely enjoyed watching those little insects wandering around the pictures. Couldn't stop thinking about what the images looked like from their point of view. Must be incredible walking on/in one of those photographs.
Dude, what an awesome way to highlight a photobook - with being able to hear from the artist as well. Love it!
Glad you enjoyed it, Kurtis. I’ve done the “book intro” before but thought it’d be fun to do a whole video like this. Thoroughly enjoyed it myself.
thank you so much for sharing, I wasn't aware of his work, love it! also thanks for letting me follow the ant for a while, that was a precious detail
Haha you are welcome. Thanks for the support ✌🏻
Beautiful video, sir. That book looks remarkably good.
Thanks, Brae. It’s next level stuff. Highest of recommendations. Plus, the cover. Chefs kiss.
Yes. Yes. Yes. Please give us more of this! And when your book comes out - yours as well!
Definitely plan on doing more in the future!
I love the content you produce, it’s such a deviation from the regularly produced videos on here. What a breath of fresh air. What’s the song around the 8min mark? I used to know it but have forgotten. Thank you!
Loved this.
Thanks for watching, Dave 🖤
This is the the kind videos that I want to see, that have a purpose to be and that give meaning to the platform. Thank you.
Beautifully shot and directed, Bryan. What a photo book and great to hear from the artist. Thank you! 🙏
what a book!
This book looks incredible, and it's great to hear from Curran on his process.
He’s full of knowledge. I would suggest digging deep on the interwebs for more interviews with him.
Lovely touch with that ant crawling on the image of the man with bees on his face!!
I just let it happened. The ant started to “bug” out when it was inside all the bees.
There are loads of photo book reviews on UA-cam. Many even set to music. This didn’t come across as a review. Not even close. Just a period of immersion into the artists work. Those moments where the camera lingers on images instead of moving on and the narration by the author without seeing him prevents the viewer from immediately displacing the images from their minds and emphasise the power these images convey and represent. May I ask if these images were made with film and if so large or medium format ? There is a lot of warmth in them. Thank you.
Such powerful work. Not 'kind of', Curran, but 'it is'.
thought the first bug was on my screen and went to kill it lol
Haha apologies. I had to search my entire yard for that guy.
This is a beautiful video and an excellent way to showcase a photobook! From the choice of music to the editing, it is superb! I also liked how you actually had the artist to talk about his work and his motivations for this project.
Thank you for this, Bryan! It is always a pleasure watching your videos.
I know exactly that same feeling he describes about a scene or potential photograph having a visual “authority”. Enjoyed this
Thank you so much for sharing
Appreciate the support.
Amazing!
Beautifully made man 💯 feeling really inspired after watching this
Thanks, Ivan. Always enjoy your videos. Very meditative.
Classy as always

Mate, your story telling style is par excellence! Love your style and you're musings good and bad. I enjoy following the journey of discovery you share. Thanks so much
Thanks for watching, Tony!

Thank you, Teja 🖤
thanks for the effort and the sharing. your work is important. big thumbs up.
I want to experience all photo books like this, thanks for making this dude 👊🏽
I’ll make them as long as I have photobooks. Hopefully many more!
Really refreshing and interesting that you let both the photos and the artist speak for themselves.
Mack, TBW, Steidl, Stanley/Barker hire this man...he can help you sell books
I was going to speak on it but there’s nothing I could add that would amplify the work (at least in this video alone).
“Official book trailer maker” has a nice ring to it. 😂
This video brought me so much peace and joy dude! All the music you use in your videos never fails in its addition to these masterpieces. I’ve been searching for HOURS for the song from the intro but I’ve had no luck. What’s the name of that song? Sorry if someone’s already asked in the comments
Can't wait till my copy arrives.
Prepare to be wowed and inspired.
beautiful, video and book
That was an amazing video!
Thanks for sharing!
Greetings from Chile!

Really beautiful

Sorry for the scare! 🐜
@@BryanBirks nah its all good. I thought it was funny 🤙

Lmao you’re not the first and probably won’t be the last 😂
