I was aware of Sword of Kaigen before because of Daniel Greene's review, but you just made me push it a lot higher on my tbr. Love your content, keep at it!
That means a lot to me! I think you will be glad you pushed it up. It was definitely near the bottom of mine but thanks to Petrik I ended up reading one of my new favorite books in fantasy. Enjoy, thanks for watching and let me know what you think of it once you read it!!
I picked this book up recently based off of glowing reviews. I expected a crazy magical war story, which is half right. I recently have been going through some serious grief with a difficulty in coping with personal loss, and idk but reading this now felt like destiny to me. It made my grief and feelings about it feel validated, and acceptable. Additionally, it is incredibly accurate as to the way that the brain processes loss and grief (stages of grief? Wang must have done some homework there) I absolutely adore this book, and if for no other reason it's up there among my favorites because I found it at the right time.
I bought the Kindle and Audible. That confession from the husband was such a surprise and it really hit all kinds of emotional chords for me. I felt like a wiser person after reading this.
Thanks for the shoutout, dude! And I'm VERY happy that you LOVED it! Also, this is a great insightful review for those who haven't read it. (I didn't know that book is free on Amazon Prime. Dear gods, what a steal of such a masterwork!) You have started out with a BANG for your first indie. Btw, do note that the main series is targeted for YA readers, I haven't read them too. And, I think it's worth knowing that the series is on indefinite hiatus at the moment. Wang talked about it in details here mlwangbooks.com/2019/12/17/difficult-news-discontinuing-the-theonite-series/
Thank you so much for the compliment. I try really hard to relay exactly how I felt as the story was being revealed to me. Sometimes it can be really difficult to keep it non spoiler but I also think it's important to let people experience these stories without ruining major parts. Thanks for watching!!
@@thefantasynuttwork It sounds great. I was unable to find much Asian inspired fantasy outside Avatar. I'm glad that the magic isn't Sanderson chemistry magic like. I can do without that for another decade 😂
Honestly great review! I have not had a chance to read it yet. I have heard amazing reviews about this book!i also Petrino reviews are great I have read a few series just based off his reviews! Another good self published is Ben galley his chasing graves trilogy!! His series is grim dark I would recommend it!
I have this book on my TBR and now I'm very excited to read it. I'm always on the hunt for Eastern inspired fantasy. I like Ken Liu short story collections. Guy Gavriel Kay has a beautiful Chinese inspired duology, ( called Under Heaven , which I highly recommend), and now I can't wait to get into this one!!
Hey, I haven’t read them yet, but people seem to love the Cradle series. There’s also the Mortal Techniques series and the Poppy War. They’re all eastern inspired fantasy. I’m just getting into fantasy with the Sword of Kaigen, so I haven’t read any of these, but I’ve heard great things.
What a great review 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Just purchased this book a and also “Malice” based on your recommendation. Very excited to read both ☺️ A bit concerned, I am a mother of a son and hope this book doesn’t break my heart 🙏🏻

Wow. This book sounds like exactly what I need right now! Been trying to become a better person, and I’ve been stuck at about 85%. But maybe this will give me some much needed perspective!
No secrets here! I just started the first book in the Dagger and the Coin series. Written by Daniel Abraham who is one of the writers from the Expanse series. He's very talented!

One of my favorite Fantasy. I hope we will get her new standalone, "Blood Over Bright Haven" this month.
Ohhh I didn’t know she was releasing a new book!!

Good info to have! I am so thankful you recommended this one my friend. Really hope we get some more works from her in the near future!
You're very convincing. You illuminate so much about the book despite the non spoiler format, I'm really impressed. On my radar now!

The Fantasy Nuttwork if you could forward the link to the lighting equipment that would be great. Thanks for the help!
