Congrats on the 300th video. Ive been following for about 1-2 years. keep up the good work. System evolution is so important. Thanks Carl for all the work you do.
Carl, congratulations on 300th video. This is a very nice setup. Recently I've been trying Time Sector setup, and liking it so far. With the free version of Todoist, I included all the time-sensitive lists (This Week, Next Week, etc.) in the sections of a main list called 'Agenda'. With this method, I can get away with less than five lists. Thanks for the guidance, and wish you all the best.
congrats on the 300th brother - been around with you since the beginning and its amazing to watch you adapt over the years....keep up the great content,
Carl, I’m a little confused as to where to start with setting up Todoist, and adopting your methods and systems. The reason I say this is because it seems like there are lots of similar videos with regards to setup on the channel and I am looking for the most up to date version. Do you have a pointer to a current “start here” video which is the most up to date? Your channel is great, and I am not really a novice with a lot of these concepts I just want to be able to efficiently adopt this. Thanks!
Here you go, Jeff. This is my current set up. It hasn't really changed all that much over the last three years. ua-cam.com/video/A3xKdi_mmbc/v-deo.html
Thanks Carl! Your videos, and your courses which I purchased, helped me transform the Todoist chaos into a working system! Keep up the great work and thanks again!!
@@BDV000 very professional and he gives great insights into the “why” as well as practical tactics behind many of the “how’s” presented here on UA-cam.
Hi Daniel and Xavier, it might not work for you because it depends how you have your sections set up. But here it is: /This Week’s Focus, #Inbox, Over due, Today
Thanks Carl, i have nearly the same setup, but had problems to get the This weeks focus shown up. Maybe you could do a video about filter syntax. Daniel
Great content! I love this stuff but I always feel too "busy" preoccupied to sit down and figure this all out, so I end up with a todo list etc that is disorganised and gives me anxiety, which then becomes counter-productive (I want to move to a cabin in the woods). Great to see examples based smart/proven methodologies. Cheers!
I understand the problem. We are too busy because we don't have the systems in place, but because we are busy, we don't have time to put the system in place. Catch 22, as they say.
If I understand there is no area of focus classified because everything is time based instead. I mean they are in recurring area of focus but without labeling the area ? Thanks for all your videos !!
My Areas of Focus is a section in my This Week folder because all the tasks in there recur, so I don't need to review these as often. They just come up when they need to come up.
Thanks for sharing - what is the reason you have “outcomes” and “project planner” separated? That looks to be belong to the same concept in end them, isn’t it?
The purpose and objectives board is only focused on what I am doing this week and this month and is not project or goal specific. It is just where I want to or need to put my focus. My projects board is simply a board with the projects I plan to complete this year divided up into quarters.
Some great ideas here. I have a couple questions ... how do you capture projects with multiple steps? Looks like maybe sub-tasks? Also, do you schedule everything, or are there some tasks that don't have dates associated?
I don't manage projects in Todoist--it's not a project manager, it's a task manager--I manage my projects from my notes app. As for dating tasks, I only date tasks in my this week folder. I find it's impossible to plan out realistically beyond a week as too much happens to change things.
@@Carl_Pullein great, thank you! I'll have to search your videos, would love to see more details on project management as my new job is nothing but a bunch of projects!
@@salmasaad198 I use Evernote as my notes app. And not really a to-do list, it's just where I brainstorm next actions, ideas and keep notes and reference materials related to the project. The task itself "work on project X" goes into Todoist.
Hi Carl! very interesting setup you created! i just wonder how did you remove the circle-tick in every tasks on 2021 Project Planner? because when i change the view of the Todoist into a Kanban-Like Board, the function of the tasks is still the same as it is in a List view
Hi Carl ! In your PURPOSE project, I see you have some tasks without the small circle that indicates it's a task. How do you do that? For me as for now I've chosen to have most tasks in Todoist, but all project related tasks in Trello so it does not mess with my tasks in Todoist, and also because in Todoist you can't create sections in Tasks to group subtasks (which you can with checklists in Trello)
Ah, I didn't change. This is my real account, not my demo account. I used Morning routine, today's focus work etc because it makes more sense to beginners.
One problem I have with the morning tasks, which for me is cleanup of inboxes etc, it takes so long (often up to 1 hour!) and hence steals momentum and energy from my most important tasks which are today's objectives.
