He looked into the current Jedi order of his time. He should have gone back further to when they were the Jed'aii. In that time where the users were just users of the Force and didn't view it as just light and dark. Only the Force.

@James Webb I don't think they would, at least in the pre clone wars area. Maybe in Skywalkers jedi in legends they would seek to understand this. But the sith and jedi were too stubborn in their ways to see this with some probably outright resenting such notion. Easy to believe a lie rather than the truth.

You say the Sith only were evil. Here is their creed:
Peace is a lie. There is only Passion.
    Through Passion, I gain Strength.
    Through Strength, I gain Power.
    Through Power, I gain Victory.
Through Victory my chains are Broken.
    The Force shall free me.
The path to power is Passion. Not necessarily evil. Being passionate in your pursuits as well as your protection of those you cared for. So I take issue with your assertation that evil was the only path to power for the Sith. They draw upon the dark side and the light if they follow this philosophy, but many just chose the easy way of the Dark Side and used pain, suffering and anger to get power.

This is a Legends subject, and thus Revan is another sith lord who wasn't evil. at least not in the way most sith are.
Also, not sure if the Sith Code is canon to the movies, but I know it is in Legends, "Peace is a lie, there is only passion. From passion, strength, from strength, power, from power, victory, with victory my chains are broken. The force will set me free.". This in and of itself cannot be interpreted as "you must do evil, impose your will on others, be greedy" etc. It only emphasizes strength and power and tells you how to gain them - through passion. You can be passionate about anything, and while yes, the stronger the feelings, such as hate and anger, the stronger you get, strictly speaking the code does not say "more strength is more power, more power is more victory, more victory is more free". Adhering to the code while drawing your strength from love, or a passion for helping others, could theoretically be done, and you would still be a sith, since you draw your power from passion.

I guess it can be interpreted in different way, but if you look at the Sith code it doesn't demand evil deeds, it's more about passion and being proactive and prepared. Or at least that's one interpretation.
Peace is a lie. There is only Passion.
    Through Passion, I gain Strength.
    Through Strength, I gain Power.
    Through Power, I gain Victory.
Through Victory my chains are Broken.
    The Force shall free me.
There is constantly strife and conflict in the Star wars galaxy, one way or another. Passion would draw you to these conflict for one reason or another, it doesn't specify the reason. With tha the rest follows, unless you die immediately that is :D Your passion for your cause or whatever gives you strength and motivation. That empowers you and helps you achieve your goals when persuing that passion. The dangerous thing about it I guess is that it pulls you towards conflict and that could surely lead you to the dark side with all the bad things that conflict brings.
Personally I think what both the Jedi and Sith lacked depth in character building and personal convictions and morals, some brought their own or very generalized ones. The Jedi code or Sith code blinded them as it became the big centerpiece. With so much power you would have to have very strong and evolved personal beliefs and convictions to stay on the "right" track or would would just get pulled on by the flow of events. Jedi would often seem to think that if they followed the code the force would take care of the rest of the mess they leave in their wake.

i was just fixing to write what you did. the code is about power. getting, keeping, and using power doesnt require evil deeds. you can do good things to get power. but eventually you
will have to go to extremes, if you want to keep amassing that power.

There is also the point of the seductive ability of the Dark Side and it's inherent addicting and corrupting nature. Compare it to that of a highly addicting drug that actually gives you tremendous power. The Sith doctrine is about complete indulgence while the Jedi teaching is about an enlightened way of complete abstinence. The inherent issue with the Force itself is that those who are sensible to it do not choose to be so or not. When dealing with an addiction that always pushes you more into it's embrace until you are a parody of the person you once were, there is no real leeway about it: ignoring it only delays it, partial indulgence (like the Black Guard) is a constant strife against your own corruption; while complete indulgence, well, results in cruel monsters who only see what gives them power and the obstacles to it. As detestable as the Jedi way in it's most dogmatic form is, it is the surest way to be proactive against the corruption of the Force itself (resulting in a state of toxic forced selflessness that does not allow one to have their own life).
The Force by it's fundamental nature sucks, for it literally forces a cycle of sapient life warring against itself (in very alike ways too) and does not allows life forms a real choice in the matter.
A gift, more like a curse in disguise.

True power in the Force comes from a Force-user centering themselves in the Force and allowing both the light and the dark to flow through them. But, this is incredibly difficult to do and even more difficult to maintain, which is why nearly all Force-users end up committing to one side of the Force or the other.

No they end up on the Jedi or Sith because the Jedi kidnap them when they're young children and the Sith claim them when they are made to see the Jedi for what they are. There aren't natural reasons for why most join the Jedi or the Sith. That's not even mentioning the Jedi and Sith doing their bests to destroy any opposing force orders.

I feel like the Sith Lord should’ve followed the teachings of Darth Revan and the original Jeudi order (not sure if that’s spelled right) The sis and the Jedi are both fanatical of their perspective and in many cases cause irreparable damage to both the force and the galaxy because they’re short sightedness they believe their way is the only way when in reality when you ignore a fundamental force that is a part of you it just serves a cost more damage and harm basically to “the whole Chinese thing of Yin and yang that darkness and light will exist within all things regardless of one’s personal allegiance The sooner anyone except set in fines balance between the two the greater the clarity one can achieve and effectively find a type of spiritual enlightenment. For the average chill that may not mean much but considering how the four sensitives of the Stars universe are more pronch of psychological illness perhaps they should consider spiritual and psychological well-being it’s a sham that the Star Wars counselor doesn’t have mental healthcare i mean just look at Darth Vader he clearly needed some therapy.

Real funny that you actually skip a few boss fights if you go that path, as one is also a honorable Sith, and the other you can get a Jedi to just assist and pretty much just let them take the fight down letting you sit back and just assist with damage.

We had always thought it to be sad that it was never canon, and remained a Legend. However, it was interesting for us to learn that the novelization of the Rise of Skywalker storyline actually canonized the novel with Palpatine commenting on him in internal dialogue. Some of the old Legends stuff is fantastic, but the canon is great too. I think fans could stand to find some balance in the light and dark and just realize that Star Wars' differing continuities don't limit enjoyment, but expand the possibilities.

Or...another possibility that's more grounded in Sith lore is the whole story is propaganda created by Jean and later affirmed by Plaguies? Maybe Gravid destroyed Sith knowledge and artifacts cause he wanted to keep the power for himself? Sith apprentices have to kill their master and take their place, right? So she kills her master, nearly dies, and then creates the whole story to justify her actions and wounds? Then Plagueis hating the Jedi so much couldn't stand a Sith doing this, so to protect Sith purity and explain the lack of Sith knowledge just goes with the story as truth? Just saying in all of Sith history only two? How can this be? Maybe Yoda explained this when he said that once you go down the dark path, there's no turning or coming back from it. And since we just said that there's no coming back from the dark and Sith can be light sided....what's more likely...that Gravid was an anomaly? Or that another Sith, told another lie, to gain power and position?

    Through Strength, I gain Power.
    Through Power, I gain Victory.
Through Victory my chains are Broken.
    The Force shall free me.
Nothing about the very Sith Code itself, doesn't state anything about the dark side or the notion of being violent or cruel.
In a different point of view, the Sith code is about conquering onself and defeating one's own inner demons to attain absolute freedom, to be no longer mentally shackled by old programs/paradigma/ideologies.
As for the first sentence, It can mean that peace for a living being is never to be a permanent constant, because life is all about experiences and thus it can be disrupted.
Though one could assume that the peace promised by the old programs/paradigma/ideologies is the lie.

Insanity is a word we give to people that have crossed the line and failed to return. In that we go insane every day.
The thing about Star Wars is that no perspective seems to have it all figured out.
I think plenty of humans reflect this desire to be better than what they truly know they are thus taking up compassion(or something else), it's why psychopaths do so well. They might not think a certain way but they understand the need to at least appear to.
While Darth Gravid developed under the Sith modus of absolute power absolutely. It's not entirely contradictive to seek it by admitting to ones self something drastic needs to be done in order to achieve more.
It sounds to me like Darth Gravid was the Dionysus type character. As he gets older he gets more "Crazy" to the point it appears like he's stepped over a line that cannot be stepped back from. Or like the Ubermench goes up to his little mountain cave to improve himself until he, every now and then, comes down from that cave to show everyone what he has achieved by improving himself.
What I mean is while we can say the Sith are self serving by nature, I've had enough time to think about this and I don't think any person isn't. Even being compassionate is to a degree can be self serving.
Also I wonder what Darth Gravid had with regards to the effects on the sith order, ie "Dealing in absolutes" because they kept looking back on his experience as a cautionary tale to avoid not experience.
For a similar reason I feel like the Jedi Sentinels are very interesting, I am rather fond of characters that take the long difficult and even pointless time wasting paths that yield interestingly unique self developed individuals. As an existentialist myself I feel like I can relate to them and Darth Gravid in regards to paths being blocked simply because of what we are or have been born into.

"You can't use the Light Side for Power" yet that is what the Jedi do as well. The Jedi also forsake the one emotion that you would draw upon the Light Side of the Force the most for... Love. Because they believe that Love leads to the Dark side.. when Love is the strongest emotion of the Light Side. So the Jedi have it just as confused as the Sith, and they also seek power just as the Sith do, but on opposite spectrums. The difference is they tell and try to convince themselves they are selfless, whereas the Sith do not.

What he said to Padmé was completely true, but of course he only said it to manipulate her, which is the part that was forbidden. Anakin didn't truly love Padmé, he wanted to possess her. If he had loved her, then he wouldn't have done what he did, because she would have rather died than let Anakin commit his evil deeds.

I gotta say this Sith lord was correct but incorrect at the same time. He was correct in that being able to tap both the Light and Dark side he would become more powerful, but, like the video stated, he went about trying to achieve his goal all wrong. He needed to retrain himself to feel empathy, then he could have slowly trained himself in the light, finally he would end up in shoes similar to that of Revan. Doing "vile" acts for the greater good. We all know Revan was one of the most dangerous Jedi/Sith that ever lived, although in the end, nowhere as string as a Sith with the Dark side, nor as strong as a Jedi in the light, but still stronger than both.

I mean, I get that domination and strength was their whole "thing," but once you have dominance over the Force, why would you give a shit about lording over a bunch of rando sapients? That would be like devoting your life to screwing around with ants out of boredom. That's why Darth Tenebrous' ideas make so much sense from a Sith perspective. When you can command the Force to such a degree as to use it to power your technology like a fucking car battery, why would ruling over others hold any appeal to you? You've basically bested a god, are you really going to go back to playing chess with morons?

If you add the light and the dark, you are left with neither, but rather something entirely new. So, him trying to make a more powerful Sith doctrine by adding to it the Jedi doctrine was always going to fail. He should have been trying to write a whole new Force Sensitive school’s doctrine that uses both Sith and Jedi knowledge, ie, both light and dark.

I think, he simply looked at wrong part of Jedi teaching. He should focus more about logic behind Jedi teachings, that way they practice them. This could be much more fitting for Sith. I am thinking about their views on force, how it's omnipresent energy that is made by all living things and reason why Jedi pursue peace, is because wars bring massive deaths that "hurts" force. They see life as something precious, that shouldn't be wasted in conflict. (That's just logic, not praxe or dogma) As Sith and Dark side user, his powers are in changes, be it destruction or creation. So he should try to use dark side to "help" life in galaxy. Sith alchemy could be good, in creating and modifying lifeforms for survival and prosperity (from creating new types of food sources to teraforming planets) He could also simply focusing on destroying treats to life. There is more way, it could go, but this is core of it.

What if there is no light or dark side of the force, only the user and his temperament and propensities. I've noticed that when a person converts to a religion he more or less highjacks the religion for his own purposes, he curtails it to fit his views or justify them. This also depends on how much the person differs from the religion, as some are less of a match than others, take Obi Wan and Anakin, with the former matching the Jedi order like a glove. Whereas there are those who teeter between the two sides creating an inner tension and conflict favoring either the "Light" Mace Windu or the "Dark" Count Dooku.

Gravid dealt in absolutes. Sith and Jedi deal in absolutes. Therein is a severe blindness for both orders. Aing-Tee regard the Force as a spectrum rather than gradients of light and dark. As a philosophy, it has a poise much easier to sustain than light or dark. Circumstances shape the color appropriate to the occasion. Time and again Jedi and Sith fall on easily avoided hubris, but they cannot see any other way.

Can someone explain why it is impossible? The sith code and practice do derive power from pain and suffering, which is manipulated within ones self and others. However I never see anything within their actual texts that say they must inflict it, or are not allowed to act in kindness to better their power. Only in the Sith themselves do I see that, not in their code. As if one interpreted it this way and that was that.
Reasoning and intent is a very iffy line I'd argue because so much of it is based within perception. To a sepritist civillian, it is possible the Jedi were evil and wielding power to enslave them. To an Imperial born civillian it is possible the Sith were protecting them from a galaxy ravaged by war. A sith might offer mercy to gain power and standing but still feel compassion. Sparing this person because of their connections but also because of their child.
