I only wished that on Netflix they would also show the first three movies; Origins, Inferno, End. I think a lot of people would understand the story better.

kenshin deserves someone like kaoru who has a straightforward heart that can heal him from his tragic past. she is the embodiment of the new era that he fought for at the expense of his sullied hands. in turn, she gives him a place in the new era, welcomes him into the fold instead of just watching it from the sidelines and became his forever home.
Loooooool she hardly really did anything in the first place. Her death wasn't even for kenshin too. It was for her, akira and kenshin. People don't realize this but tomoe has a selfishness that people don't see but if they look close enough, she's not as saintly as people call her. Kaoru is closer to what someone would call truthfully kind. She literally had no bad beef with anybody and could forgive those who hurt her.

Neither did kenshin really ever knew that they existed , only until the last day that he was introduced about their existence. So much for bonding lol. Kenshin really just needed anybody, he could kill yes, but he lacked common sense. Tbh it didn't really have to be tomoe in the first place, what moved him was what "normalcy" was but not anything specific about her character as herself, i mean, she did barely really anything for him, but since he was a fresh slate, everything he got, became amplified. Had his master just taught him how not to be anti social, he wouldn't be this naive. A literal walk with an old lady would have sufficed tbh lol. Anybody with common sense too.
It was Tomoe who tamed Kenshin. She will always be special in Kenshin's heart. Would Kaoru tame Kenshin the way Tomoe did if Kaoru met him in his slayer days? I don't think so.
In a way it was thanks to the promise he made to Tomoe that Kaoru could see his kind side and fall for him but I also think that Kaoru's pure heart is what he needed to finally bring peace to his life and live it with no regrets.
im sure you havent read the manga bec if you did, you’d know that kenshin was already pure and honorable from the start. it was tomoe, who was changed by kenshin when she realized he has the kindness that doesnt match a killer. kenshin decided to stop killing even before tomoe died. his atonement is not just for her but also for akira and the many lives he took.

She never did tame kenshin lol. In fact what she did was tell him a little bit of common sense that he could have had with anybody else. What she did give him was ptsd , split personality, and a low self esteem that made him not care about his life. Had he not net kaoru, he would have either come back to become a full on manslayer again, never having to reach his atonement, or died earlier on. Kaoru made the curse that tomoe gave with her death into a blessing. She worked hard to save kenshin. Had kenshin not love kaoru more than tomoe, he wouldn't be able to be the man he is that he wanted to be ever since he was very young. In the end, kenshin didn't even choose, his heart was set on kaoru, tomoe even shipped them for goodness sake. And for your question, yeah, kaoru could have had. But tbh iy doesn't have to be tomoe. It really could be anyone. Had kenshin first lobed kaoru before tomoe, tomoe wouldn't even stand a chance. The only thing that worked for tomoe was the fact that she got all the cards on the palm of her hand. He was vulnerable,very naive, inexperienced, isolated, lacked common sense, and she planned to get close to him. Without the existence of akira, tomoe wouldn't even bother with kenshin. If only kenshin just went and ask a normal person about something, he could have been done and gone with his problems. It was THAT easy. But you have to ask yourself as well. Could tomoe save kenshin if he was a ruroni? No, not at all. Wtvr tomoe has given kenshin, kaoru has already given tenfolds because it was true love. Tomoe cant stand a chance in lifting up a kenshin who was at his worst. She couldnt even fully treasure him at his best. But i can't blame her, as her efforts are not reserved for kenshin at all, In fact, if she had a choice, she'd rather be with akira and she did, that's why instead of telling kenshin the plan she didn't, she had no intention to stay, dead or alive as she said goodbye. The man she love has always been akira, what she had with kenshin was closer to that of gratitude and affection.

After watching Rurouni Kenshin The Beginning, I just feel more emotional and touched as how Kaoru has accepted Kenshin.
