Any other right-handers here use only "lefthanded" baitcasting rods? 😂

Yeah I was always taught right handed people reel with the left hand so you don't switch hands after casting and here randy is casting and reeling with the right in a casting video, strange.
I personally cast with my right hand and reel with my left. As any right handed person should 😂

Yup. Left handed baitcasters are the best!

Not everyone is the same in the aspect of right/left handed reels....it's the right brain, left brain dominance trait that dictates what feels natural to the individual. What's strange to me is how left handed spinning reels and right handed baitcasters are my preferred configuration even though I'm very much right handed.

I was totally casting with my whole body until I watched this. Tried working my wrists a lot more today. After about 15 min of practice I was casting better and further with a baitcaster than I have ever before. I definitely needed this.

Randy knows the “Superman that cast” concept. That Superman cast for sure will fly farther than a country mile. Randy makes way more cast in his garage than in any of his on the water demos by far.

I grew up on the West coast fishing larger rivers for salmon and steelhead. If the slot holding fish is across the river, 50 or 60 yards away, most folks cant reach unless they have a boat. One of the first things I was taught back in the day, was how to remove the brakes and " thumb control " everything. Hours of practice but worth it. So much faster and farther.

very interesting point, all the experience, but I suck at casting / not suck, but I see your point / I really feel like I am at a disadvantage being a bank fisherman / rarely get the change to skip underneath anything, as I am already on the bank / your level is always different from one pond to another, way above the water, right on the water / If I ever get that boat I have been talking about, I will have to relearn how to cast from a boat

100% facts. I was getting bit on a frog making accurate casts into grass and reed pockets while my buddy couldn’t put the bait in the strike zone and got zero.

Thanks Randy. this is really encouraging that I am at least doing one thing right!
It's very cool that you put casting excellency into your memory as a little kid & it has stayed with you through adulthood.
As a tiny kid in the 60s my dad taught me to fish with an "open reel." He handed me a "giant" 8' rod too & insisted we learned to handle & care for good equipment. But it's like you say, it's intuitive now.
😒 And exactly as you say, learning to cast sitting on a rollator is the toughest thing I am figuring. I keep getting up to cast & get wobbly, 🥴 heaven forbid I should get more than a nibble, I'll probably fall in with the fishes. 😂At least I'll be having fun🤣

What about when you’re trying to cast to the middle of the lake from shore? Sometimes I need to get my bait off the shelf, and that requires slinging it like I’m throwing a grenade.😂

Randy, it seems line size does have an impact on a bait caster, but my open faces it makes a HUGE impact on how my entire rig works.
    You see the same?

Do they float when they get blown, kicked, dropped or thrown off the boat in one of the many bad days on the water?
