What Made Zane VS Jesse/Yubel so Special?
I think for me it’s the fact that he goes out on his own terms. He finally returns back to his “normal” self.

I main Cydras and this will be my excuse every time I lose to my own Power Bond 😂
I’ve always loved the fact that Zane didn’t use any Cyberdarks in this duel. After his turn in Season 2, he finally returned to his faithful Cyber Dragons for his final duel.
I’m voting again for Kaito vs Mizael from Zexal.
I feel the same way, Kaito vs Mizael is one of my all time favorite duels in all of Yugioh.

Devil's advocate. If he'd still used Cyberdarks for this duel, maybe we would have gotten decent support much sooner.
Also Kaito vs Mizaiel is a must. Just not the dub.
I've always been frustrated that Kaito vs Mizael didn't result on a loss for Kaito as the whole duel was leading to that : the fact that Kaito acknowledges that Mizael is the best dragon user and the fact that Kaito actually died in this duel.
Didn't Kite win in the sub too? He just suffocates to death due to Orbital 7's suit mode failing.
While he may have died and officially lost the duel, Morally and Mentally Zane won.
Zane pushed Jaden out of his despair and gave him the motivation he needed to finish the job. Zane also denied Yubel the satisfaction of ending his life and went out on his own terms with his True Ace Cyber End Dragon at his side.
Very few people could have actually pulled this off but ironically due to him participating in those Underground Duels they gave Zane the mental and physical fortitude needed to duel a Sadist like Yubel.
This is easily the best duel in all of GX.
When Kaiser says that he wants to burn his life so bright to prove that he existed. Man what a line. I also love how Judai realizes what Kaiser is doing and explains to Sho that he is not throwing his life away. Then him activating power bond on his final turn is perfect. When he summons the Cyber End Dragon with 8000 atk and we get the flashback and at the end Judai says you really are the best Kaiser.
Chef's kiss. What a duel. Then how can you not get teary-eyed as he passes away. I certainly did.
Also, if you haven't watched this duel subbed you need to.
What made this duel special is how truly hard to say who'd win and who'd lose. We know in the back of our heads the mc will not lose to the final antagonist which takes away some of the excitement of the duel
But with side characters vs the villains it's hard to say how a duel can go and Zane is a special case as to how far he goes in duels.
Can't say many duels have that spark like soul burner vs revolver

I love how Zane's attitude in this duel scared even YUBEL!
I think the reason it’s so special is that it became quite apparent to Ryo early in the duel that it would be his final duel so he gave it his all even at death’s doorstep. Ryo’s character journey is one of the best in all of the Yu-Gi-Oh anime.
For the one of the next duels maybe do Yugi Vs. Kaiba Battle City, Yusei vs Kiryu Dark Signers Rematch, Yugi vs Atem Ceremonial Duel, Yuma vs Nash, Yuma Nash and Kind of Kaito vs Don Thousand, Judai vs Yugi or Yugi vs Pegasus Duelist Kingdom Final
It's not special. Ryo commits suicide in this duel after he destroyed his health all by himself. He did all it to himself. His brother begged him to not do it. Iam no fan of Sho as a character but as a brother he was way to good for ryo. Ryo was a terrible brother who psychologically harmed his brother in young age already. Ryo always was selfish. In season 1 he mamaged to keep his mask on but after losing to edo it cracked and showed the ugly human being that's behind it.
What's so great about ryo's journey? His motivation was to beat edo and judai. He did none of it. Instead he lost to yubel. This was yubel's weakest deck. Amon and judai drove yubel further than ryo did. Vs amon yubel had to summon themselves.
The fact that ryo's suicide motivates judai is hilarious.

I disagree Ryo did care about his brother in season 1 to the point he was willing to throw away his life .
Season 2 he was literally pushed to the edge that if he loses against mad dog his career is over. The underground duels Ryo learned that all that matters is winning. Edo is literally egging Ryo to duel him and he doesn’t.
The argument of yubel using the weakest deck is so flawed, yubel had much plot doing this duel. They gave Zane cybernetics zone rather than limit remover. Judai only did better against yubel because yubel’s goal was to get super polymerzation.
For Zexal, I nominate Yuma vs Nasch (Shark) their final duel
If only Zane had Limiter Removal instead of Cybernetic Zone...
Sadly Zane couldn't attack with Cyber End regardless of his condition because Cybernetic Zone would've destroyed it during the next turn after it returned back. Unless they pulled a plot armor top deck, it seemed very likely he would've lost just shy of victory. I love the real tension and punch-for-punch this duel had because both duelists wanted to completely beat the other
Powerbond effect still kicks in unfortunately. Even if the monster leave the field, you still have to pay the life points.
@@kaiserdragon7233 thats what I was implying, even if he survived the turn passed power bond, even if he got another turn. That powerful monster was useless as its gone by standby phase. Didnt mention power bond cause that parts obvious, I shoulda clarified

Absolutely one of the best duels in the franchise. It was a nice sort of "rematch" from their last duel. It featured the debut of the Advanced Crystal Beasts. It served as Zane's farewell/send off duel. Exciting back and forth turns. And the end of the duel with Zane standing there with his gigantic Cyber End Dragon was so good and left a lasting image. It was a great duel to show off who Zane had become.
Not only it’s one of my favorite duels from Yu-Gi-Oh GX but my favorite duel of all the the Yu-Gi-Oh series

Zane after going pro. Shun in the entire arc v run. Kite and soul burner probably had the best duels because it's hard to say who'd win or not.
Shun is unpredictable due to how his mission to fight fusion is so serious compared to how yuya acts trying to entertain. A close second probably Dennis who does what yuya does but better. Yuri was an absolute beast but we all know yuya was gonna beat him.
Kite same thing. He's constantly making duels with the mc unpredictable with Yuma not getting a win against him by either tying or just beating him outright. That makes villain fights harder to gauge with kite if he'll win or not as an unstoppable force.
Soul burner same thing. Dude was on demon time and especially his final duel with revolver was a good send off showing a joey can succeed without being the villain. He got the best ending too with bringing his girlfriend to vrains
Truly one of the best of Zane's duel. Homie knew he didn't have much time left and chose to fought to the bitter end. Even snapping Judai out of his depression and went out on his terms with his signature ace, Cyber End Dragon. That shot of Cyber End being huge and standing behind him was glorious. Zane will always be the greatest character (to me) in GX
Definitely one of the best duels in GX. One thing I actually liked in the dub version is Zane addresses Syrus before passing away, while in the sub he doesn't acknowledge him lol
Zane came such a long way he even said it himself he had all the glory but had non of the fun
This is a great duel and a great way to send zane off until he comes back in season 4 of corse

@@lpfan4491only 3 seasons were dubbed, but there is another season(and another episode of season 3 if I’m not mistaken) that were only in the sub.
@@knockout8157 It is a semi-joke, contrary to popular statements, Season 4 is not particularly good and absolutely destroys once good content that came before(Including the one thing in OP's read more).

You should review the duel of Yuma and Astral vs Nasch which is one of my favourite duels of all time.
Hope we get one of these for Zexal. Yuma vs Nasch is a phenomenal duel that means a lot to me, personally. Great dueling action, great use of the phenomenal soundtrack, and it really highlights how much both characters have grown.
This was another great “what made… duel so great”.
Would you consider doing Yuma and Shark’s (Nash’s) final duel next.
P.S, would you also consider doing a Top 25 Duels of all time?

I've thought about why Zane's last card was Cybernetic Zone and not Limiter Removal, which would have won him the game. My theory is that Zane's normally superb "draw the out" skill faltered for a brief moment as he was fighting with one foot in the grave. A real tragedy; goes to show just how close he was to beating Yubel
One of the best duels out there, maybe in top 3, after Kurosaki Shun VS. Sora Shiun'in, which you already covered.
Can't tell what my most favorite duel is, because it's not as epic or review-worthy.
Still one of the greatest duels of the entire franchise.

I’m still mad that we didn’t get a proper duel of Jaden vs Dark Zane.
everyone went all out to try saving Jaden's boyfriend just for you to demote him to the best friend bracket.
This duel is flippin’ sweet. When Zane went to 200 life points and had to catch his breath literally had me on the edge of my seat.
My personal favorite duel that I would love to see analyzed are the Sargasso duels in general.
I know Vector vs Yuma is the main focus due to the sheer amount of character exploration and development involved, but Durbe vs Shark foreshadows SO MUCH with their dialogue and Mizael vs Kaito is able to further their rivalry beyond their first duel with each other.
It is my absolute favorite part of all of Zexal II outside of the final arc.
Durbe vs Shark?! I forgot that duel existed. might be good to rewatch it knowing what is to come...
This to note is also the first duel Yubel had and even though she was using a powered up version of Jesse's deck, they were being pushed back non-stop by Zane throughout the whole duel. This duel does well in making Yubel fallable which later is further built up on through their duel with Adrian.

Yubel seemed to mop the floor with Adrian. Yeah there were some surprises for the viewer but Yubel acted like they knew all of Adrian's moves before they happened...
@@appleducky5234 It isn't surprising for Yubel to know Adrian's moves especially since it was they who lead them to Exodia but having that knowledge didn't make it easier for them to be breaking a sweat with all of Adrian's methods of getting the Exodia win.

one of my favorite duels also Kaiser has been using Cyberdarks more then his Cybers or combining them but this he used Cybers exclusively
Yuma and Kite vs IV and III is the perfect duel for anytime I'm in the mood for some hype zexal era duel

I really wish they didint bring Kaiser back in S4, its duel was a really fitting end for him and the fact that they brought him back took some greatness away from this duel.
would have love to see how the Kaiser/Zane got his redemption before going out though honestly he I would have had him still lose but he takes Rainbow Dark Dragon down to give Judai/Jaden hope and show that Yubel possessed Johan isn't unbeatable.
My vote would be for Yugi vs Kaiba Battle city that duel is amazing or Kaiba vs Zigfreid which is also good,
Back when i first saw this duel when it aired it really was sad to see Zane knowing he wouldn't last longer but incredible to see he giving it his all one final time. Not only was he trying to save Jesse and teach Jaden that he needs to be brave and move forward despite with what's happened but also he was fighting alongside Cyber End Dragon once again. You can see this with him summoning Cyber End Dragon and recalling the best times he had with it. Since the beginning he was fond of the monster but he broke his bond in s2 after he lost to Aster and got the Cyber dark monsters he started to disrespect himself, his opponents and his monsters only caring about winning. As we saw when he dueled Jesse the 1st time he was starting to be like his old self again using his old monsters again in particular Cyber End Dragon respecting it as he had before when he duels. This duel just encapsulates the journey that Zane went through starting off strong and good to straying off for a bit and returning back finding himself. This parallels so well with Jaden as he's also took down the wrong path in this season but Zane shows him that he needs to accept himself to save everyone to stop running and stand up for himself and the world agaisnt Yubel and the light of destruction. Truly one of the best duels the music goes so well.
JP GX continues to make me irrationally angry here even after years. The diffrence between Zane and Ryo is that Zane actually died(Season 4 genuinely needs to be erased) so this event is not just a blip on the radar...and that he actually gave final words to both Jaden and Syrus to cap the relationship he foolishly broke off. Ryo is just a retroactive loser and does not care about his brother Sho.
For all the nonsense 4Kids and american network demands did to the IP over the years, I will always have to give them the storypoints here, even if the improvement is 100% accidental. (Ultimately luckily, I still have the german regional dub to watch that keeps the storychanges while not having the horrendous voice direction and generally improving on the one liners. Even tho it has its own problems that more or less annoy me, can't get a full win here.)

This is honestly one of the best duels in Yu-Gi-Oh GX. I love this duel and this duel made Zane/Ryo my 2nd favorite character in Yu-Gi-Oh.

This is one of my favorites as well. I'd go back and watch it every now and then. Just like the first Digimon movie, beyblade, and yugioh
This dule was special I would also say the same thing for Yuma vs Alito from zexal and the amazing quad trilogy of the four dules between Yuma and Shark also from Zexal as well
If Zane drew Limiter Removal, he would've won. But regardless, Zane always had the best duels but his duel with Jesse was peak. I loved this duel so much.

When I first saw this duel it was in a vid for the subbed version of the duel itself and at the end I think I teared up a bit. (the Japanese ost hits hard) also speaking of sad music kicks in, sometime after 7:20 I noticed the music and it hit hard.

Hope you do Yami Yugi vs Yugi during the Orichalcos arc cause the emotions and music hit hard and what Yami learns from the duel is great.

What made it so special is that both of them were bad guys. And Zane caught a heart attack in a children’s show.
Yeah this duel was really good zane is one ofy favorite characters in GX suprised zane pulled off a big turn only to die from his heart attack
If only Zane last card in hand was limited Removal than he would of actually won that but this is still one of my favorite duel in gx

Zane Vs Jesse/Yubel was a really good duel and seeing Zane disappear at the end of the duel after losing because of Power Bond’s effect damage that he takes was so sad. The music throughout the duel was so good and it seemed like Zane would win but ultimately he loses. For the next duel how about Vetcor Vs Dumon and Marin because it was a really good duel and I would love to see your analysis
Ignoring the fact Kaiser got revived next season (even if it’s to booster up his brother’s character), best send off duel ever.

Kaiser getting revived kinda diminished the sad moment.

Season 4 is a disgrace. It would be even if that was the only issue with it, but it ain't by a long shot.

Sadly during season 4 Judai and kaiser badly saw each other
Zane deserved to destroy Rainbow dark dragon who shouldnt have got boosted by 5k after counter gem,instead it should have been 4k and they destroy each other but Zane still takes power bond effect damage,just my small gripe with this duel,but as usual Jaden has to be one doing everything.
