  • Today we're taking a look at the 2023 Toyota Corolla Hybrid XLE which is the top trim available on the Corolla Hybrid. This XLE is only available as a FWD unlike the LE and SE trim levels which do have available AWD. This Corolla uses Toyota's new gen 5 hybrid system, has TSS 3.0, the new audio and multimedia software and more. Let me know your thoughts below

Toyota should make rear seat vents standard in all of its sedans.

Pretty much no compact sedans have upright rear air vents. It’s nice that you get those USBs in the back standard though.

Great overview! I would like to point out that all 2023 Corolla hybrids have 156 lb-ft of torque, not 105 lb-ft of torque. That's one of the major pros of the car (apart from fuel economy) because it makes it feel quite peppy, especially in the city.

thank you. i got the torque information directly from Toyota but maybe they weren’t counting the torque coming from the battery on their spec sheet

thanks so much for that little update and correction! I couldn't see how that would be true if we're talking about one of the best economy cars in its class if not the one who wrote the book! I had a 1996 Corolla ? I know not the trim level but I was only the 2nd owner and drove it until it threw a cyclinder 16 years later! Her name was Bessie and we loved her a lot! My kids grew up in that car and we had so much fun during that time in that very dependable very reliable car! Currently I'm trying to raise my credit score to get out of my 2016 Honda Civic which has also served my family well, except for the maintenance schedule that pops up repeatedly and too soon too close to the last HUGE CHUNK of change it cleaned out of my bank acct! I'm going back to a toyota and a hybrid at that to be on the safe side of not having to go to the pump every frickin' day to fill up at over $25 for a HALF tank of gas in a 2016 HONDA CIVIC! Jeez infrastructure a little mercy please I drive Uber to survive and lately that's not even doing it and I'm out in that car at least 6 to 8 hours a day trying!

@@LisaMischelleif you can, get the Prius or Prius Prime. Much better economy and much faster.

Krowicki: Thanks for the thorough and well done review. I'll be in the market for a replacement vehicle soon, and this is one that I'm considering (along with the Corolla Cross Hybrid). Toyota: Two major failures, which might dissuade me from choosing this vehicle are a lack of lumbar support for the driver's seat and the lack of fog lights as an option (both are available on the Cross).

Does this car have the feature where holding unlock for the doors on the key fob it rolls down all the windows?

I had a 2018 Camry xle v6 which was fully loaded. This one doesn’t seem much more luxurious than an SE. A bit disappointing.

I loved everything about this car except the leather on the steering wheel. Now I have to buy something non-leather steering wheel cover to cover it up.. ughh

I wish they did an XSE instead of XLE, hate the whole exterior look if I am being honest with you.

The SE looks much better than the XLE. I was disappointed too. The only thing I wish my SE had are leather power seats
