Good gosh Jen! I'm pausing the video to say-you can NOT be over prepared when you are hiking solo. Things can change in a second in nature. Thank goodness you were there for that lady and that you were prepared to help her!
We live in the mountains near Breckenridge Colorado. It has been a crazy year for our Search and Rescue teams. I admire them so much! They even come out to rescue dogs that have fallen off the trails. It’s a God thing that you were there and you had bars in the middle of nowhere. That doesn’t happen much when we hike. Thank you for your part of her rescue! ❤
I agree with you that you were right where you were suppose to be when you made that decision to go across that creek and keep going farther up the mountain. I'm sorry that your planned hikes in Texas and New Mexico got canceled. Especially when you had traveled so far, on a time schedule and had been looking forward to your hikes. But if it hadn't been for the timing of everything that happened to you and how prepared you were with the maps, having a camera and having phone service, who knows what could have happened to that young lady. You made a difference in that young lady's life she will never forget! You got some beautiful footage of Colorado! Thank you for taking us along your adventures! I'm really sorry about Winnie passing.
Omg, I’m nearly in tears. God definitely put you in the right place at the right time. Omg that has me shooken up, I’m so happy they were able to get her and she’s safe and sound. Thank you Jen for your kindness and awareness, such a blessing. ❤
GOD used you to save one of his children what an amazing blessing you were there. I got so emotional listening to you letting the lady know you were trying to get help. My heart was racing and I was not even there. GOD bless you Jen. 💕 Her family and her will be grateful to you for the rest of her life. Each new day GOD gives us is for a reason we don't even know. Thank you for the advice and sharing 🥰🙏
Colorado is my home, and our wilderness is unlike most others. You weren't over prepared. You were exactly prepared. We have people getting lost and dying in our wilderness often. Always have tons of water, too. We have very dry summers. You came when we were having a lot of rain that we don't normally get!
I felt rattled even just sitting at home watching this. I can only imagine how you felt. Amazing that you were able to help that lady, definitely meant to be at that spot at that time. I love going on these adventures with you and you inspire me to hike more myself. Also really appreciate you not using the lady and her situation as clickbait, I feel like a lot of other UA-camrs would sensationalise the situation for more views. You just sincerely shared what happened on your trip. I truly admire you for that.
Being someone who wants to do more solo treking this was an incredibly sober reminder that you can't really be over prepared. Thank you for being willing to share all of your travels the good bad, and the emotionally taxing. I would love to see how you plan your hikes and what you download for references. Your preparation saved a woman's life, that really drives it home. Rest your heart. It is a tremendous pain, the loss of your sweet fur baby ❤
Yes, and because it was you and you make content it gave us all a healthy wake up call! I live in the Highlands of Scotland and it made me realise I’ve been very lucky/ looked after in some past solo hike misadventures - it made me send up a wee prayer of thanks. You said at the time the helicopter came, ‘Thank God,’ multiple times and I personally do think that He probably wiggled your adventures to be the one there as you’re organised Jen! But I’m pretty sure Winnie was in His bosey (arms) proudly thinking, ‘That’s my Mum helping that scared lady!’ I know we’ve different beliefs but that’s how I’d interpret events. After being separated from your little life companion just now I also think God helps us see that there are still plans and purposes for us and I think those little reminders of your plans and purpose will be a help to you getting through these tough times, although we are all super grateful on that lady’s behalf also!
Oh how amazing that you heard her! That was no accident and you were meant to be there! Very good reminders on safety. I am enjoying your travel vlogs.
I'm so glad you were there, and that you were observant and resourceful. And I am so sorry to hear about Winnie - she was a big part of your life for so long. You gave her a very happy home.
Jen God put you where you needed to be when you needed to be there. I’m so glad you were there and had all to tools to help locate her. Colorado is so beautiful thank you for taking us along
Wow! Having experienced nothing like this myself, I can only imagine! But we all got to see how you responded and you did so good! Amazing that you were able to send Search and Rescue such detailed information. It was definitely God who put you in the right place at the right time to help that woman! On another note, I hope you are able to tend to those tender places you mentioned. I don't know your faith but for me personally, reading Scripture comforts me even when I think nothing could possibly comfort me, God does! Thank you for taking us with you on your adventures. I'm looking forward to where you go next! Safe travels ❤
I absolutely adore you Jen. Your values, morals, worth ethic, generosity and spirt. I have a special candle I light for Winnie to go with my dear ones that have passed ❤
I think these are your best videos. You saved someone's life... I can't imagine the woman's panic. I'm sorry to hear about Winnie. I hope this wandering/exploring will be cathartic and life changing for you, Jen. You're an amazing woman.
this is so crazy.. i'm so glad that you were there and able to help that woman. you can never be over packed for situations like these. you just never know what's gonna happen. p.s. Jen you have such a beautiful soul and you are an incredible human being!
Love your introspective thoughts about Winnie and her helping paw. I do believe that things like that happen. Your compassion for the woman on the hike was so sincere.
Been a long time silent follower, and this video brought me to tears! The universe definitely put you on the trajectory to help a fellow soul.. I am in awe of how calm you stayed. I would of been having numerous panic attacks had I been in your shoes! It’s so interesting to follow along on your adventures. ❤
Wow! Jen so proud of you and such an amazing journey. You were definitely sent there at just the right time. Thank God! Blessings to you and prayers for that lady. So glad she’s ok.
Wow! I could feel all of your emotions during that stressful time. Be so proud that you saved a life. Fate is real. 🐶I admire all of your brave solo travels and gettin right back on the trail.. not letting that spook you! Also, so sorry for the loss of Ms Winnie. I feel your pain and wish you so much love. 💛
Wow...this is an amazing video and I'm so happy your shared this story; I was in tears while you waited for help to arrive (and teary eyed throughout the video). I agree that Winnie had a paw in guiding you to help that woman. So thankful she is okay and thankful for you! The scenery of all of your hikes is amazing!
That's awesome you saved a life, amazing. And the bunny you ran into on the trail... maybe it was a Winnie sign? You always called her Bunny. :) I thought about that as soon as you showed the bunny in the video.
This gave me chills. I read the story in the Alamosa Volunteer search page and this lady got lost hiking lost her phone which she used for navigation and then couldn’t find her way back. Omg! I would had just died up their. This poor lady was not prepared at all. Jen God put you at the right time at the right place this women would had died up on that mountain if you would not heard/ seen her. This is a great reminder for those who walk on trails and go to remote places for adventures to take extra batteries for their phone another for of navigation system extra food etc. this video was crazy I wanted to cry.
I feel like I just watched a suspense movie. I was sitting on the edge of my seat…not kidding. I believe we are all guided to where we need to be. Let Winnie be your guardian angel❤️
Very well done Jen! I was right there with you emotionally. Yikes! Have you considered taking a Wilderness First Aid or even Wilderness First Responder course?
It is so wonderful to see you in my neck of the woods! I’m really happy that you got to experience the creek while it is running. Enjoy your stay and our lovely state!
Seriously I just wanted to cry for the stranded lady....how alone and terrified she must have been. Emotional roller coaster to watch...but yes needs to be shared as a reminder to stay diligent in helping yourself and others.❤
Wow! That was crazy to watch! So so glad you were there to get her help. I have no doubt you saved her life...who knows what would've happened. Be safe Jen!!
I do believe that things happen for a reason. I can’t imagine the emotions you were feeling. It shows your caring nature - waiting there even though not physically close to the lady your presence had to make her feel better. Love your videos
Imagine if you had AirPods in or something! Yes, I was also thinking, you were there at that time for a reason :) And WOW the sand dunes are incredible! The views!!! Incredible. Thank you for all that you share, I love travelling with you! xo
You did such a good job. While you never want that to happen hopefully it gives you and your family peace of mind knowing that you do know what to do in an emergency. You can also take a good look at your gear and make sure you are as prepared as possible. I'm sure that woman will never forget you.
I think we are put in certain circumstances and “places” in life for a reason. So glad you were there on the trail to help with the other hikers rescue. How scary!
Wow I cannot believe you were in the right place at the right time! And you were able to hear her. This truly gives me the chills. So glad you were there and she’s safe ❤️
You are very brave! On so many levels. Keep doing what you are doing. ❤ I was also thinking that Winnie's spirit definitely has something to do with making sure that you are in the right place at the right time to help the lady who was stuck on the the trail.
Hey Jen, I missed a few vlogs recently. I feel for you losing Winnie. I have watched you vlogs for a few years now, and I always thought you were a very good doggy Mom 🐕 ❤ Thanks for sharing these travel vlogs. Going to Santa Fe in October & and you're giving me lots of fun ideas for future trips! Ps. I had not thought about bringing a travel garmen so someone could track me if need be. Thanks for that. Also, it does not sound at all strange that Winnie maybe helped lead you up that mountain at that exact time. 💖
Isn't that amazing that there's sand that far from the ocean? And so much of it?? Gosh amazing. And, Jen, I totally agree that you were put there to help that woman. It all was meant to be for you to be there at that time ❤️❤
You are incredible!! So glad you heard and helped the lady! Sorry to hear about Winnie. I lost my 16.5 year old min pin in January and boy that was rough. I still think of him and wish he was here. I ended up getting a min pin puppy and he’s filled in my time and has given me something else to love. He definitely doesn’t take his older brothers spot but he is wonderful and we love him. Just wanted to say getting a puppy might help. ♥️
Oh love you Jen and have watched you for years so glad you were able to help the stranded lady and so sorry for your loss of Winnie prayers for you breaks my heart I have loved watching all you shared over the years
Julian Sands lost his life while out hiking on a mountain if I remember the article correctly. You can't be over prepared to the things that could happen. I. believe all the things you experienced led up to you being able to hear her and get help. If you hadn't experienced those closed trails and such you would not have been there to help her. The first rule is DO NOT PANIC. I think that the worst thing one can do is panic. Give yourself 5 seconds to give into fear and then get yourself together and think of the best solution that you think will work and you did this!! Proud of you for not panicking.
Holy cow Jen! Thank goodness you were there and able to hear something and stop to investigate! We were in Yosemite once and a similar situation happened. Intense is a great word. And thank you for sharing to help make people more aware just in case ❤
You’re just such a good, thoughtful person. I would never have considered the monetization, but very generous of you to instead donate. Crazy trip but you probably saved a life all said and done! ❤
Jennifer you were meant to be there! I would have been rattled after that also! You handled it very well & thank goodness you did! You should feel good knowing how strong you are 🤗 I'm so happy the lady is safe & sound 🙏 On a happier note, mountains are always captivating! Take care on your next adventure 💜
Wow I’m in CO and hike solo and am so proud of you for helping her 😭 crazy that would happen on your first hike here! That’s why I always carry my inreach mini. She may have been on a 14er, there are a few around that area. Love your content and glad you finally made it to CO! Are you going to try a 14er?? Or did already??
wowza - thank goodness you were there. right place right time and you knew what to do!! Good job. I am all rattled just watching this video. And I believe Winnie spirit was right there along side you the whole time
Amazing! I love following your journey. You are so brave and adventurous. I often watch your videos while I am working on my computer but have to mute when the wind noise gets so bad like on this video at 10:47. I just wanted to give you a heads up because I know sometimes audio can differ from listener to listener. Keep being WILD! :)
Before you even mentioned Winnie having a hand in you being there - that was my first thought too. Another profound adventure, so thankful for you sharing all of it!
Jen, god put you there for a reason… you are so brave now… I can’t believe how much you have grown… sooo freaking proud of you… I’m sorry if this sounds weird.. I’m a long time subscriber
This was such a special video. I definitely think Winnie was there with you. I’m so glad. ❤ You may have addressed this elsewhere, but do you have a National Parks passport? They are such a neat way to keep track of the parks and national monuments you’ve been to.
I think u were there for many reasons to save that girl in the red.. and maybe just maybe Winnie had her paw in that.. she will always watch u and follow u in all your journeys
I think you are fantastic and you are so unaware of how fantastic you are. I would never have the confidence to do what you are doing on your own but you are and what you did was amazing because you saved her. It is good to share as many wouldn't have known what to do, but you did and so give yourself credit. You are an amazing and don't let anyone tell you anything different x I love your videos x
Colorado means red male form. First the rainbow (Winnie) then the lady in the red needing help. I remember winnie's little red snow shoes. It started with the city of Faith and a rainbow bridge. Love that Winnie oh and don't forget the bunny winnies nick name
I am so proud of how you reacted and just wanted to ask if you have anything to protect you if you come upon a wild animal like a cougar or a bear? I know a lot of hikers who think they won’t face wild animals if they are on trails that are well used. That is not always the case!
Oh . dang. Im in tears. How scary for her. So glad you listened and called. Be careful as things aren't always as they seem. Nice thing you did though. Be careful yourself as I've heard a lot of things planted on trails to stop women.(moms tender hears) Pls become very aware and very careful. (scams)
Good gosh Jen! I'm pausing the video to say-you can NOT be over prepared when you are hiking solo. Things can change in a second in nature. Thank goodness you were there for that lady and that you were prepared to help her!

I absolutely agree. It was divine timing
I was getting emotional watching you save the woman. You’re a hero, Jen! 👏👏
You are amazing! I’ve been watching you for years. You aided in saving her life!!! That is a testimony!!!
I’m glad you were in the right place and were alert to your surroundings. You are a blessing to all of us 💕

Will you continue to use Hip Camp instead of State or National park campgrounds? this one seemed very remote and honestly, not safe

I do believe that things happen for a reason. I can’t imagine the emotions you were feeling. It shows your caring nature - waiting there even though not physically close to the lady your presence had to make her feel better.
Love your videos
You were absolutely meant to be there to help that lady. Thank goodness she was rescued. Thank you for acting promptly to help her.
God had you hike that trail at the exact time and location needed to provide her help. You are her guardian angel! ❤
Imagine if you had AirPods in or something! Yes, I was also thinking, you were there at that time for a reason :) And WOW the sand dunes are incredible! The views!!! Incredible. Thank you for all that you share, I love travelling with you! xo
You are an angel on earth Jen!! Thank God for folks like You!!!!!!!! I'm sure that lady thinks so too!!
your a hero
You saved her, Jen. Wow. I would be rattled too. Hugs!
Goodness, rattling for sure. You saved a life. I know she will be thankful for you forever.
Oh well done so glad you were there and stayed calm and collected ❤
im all tears whenever Jen mentions Winnie 🌈
Same 💕🐾
You did such a good job. While you never want that to happen hopefully it gives you and your family peace of mind knowing that you do know what to do in an emergency. You can also take a good look at your gear and make sure you are as prepared as possible. I'm sure that woman will never forget you.
As a person who works with a lot of animal magic in my spiritual practice, it absolutely does not sound silly. It's highly likely honestly.
So glad you were able to help that lady, what a scary experience. Way to be so prepared.
Praise God that you were at the right place at the right time so that lady could get the help she needed!
You are very brave! On so many levels. Keep doing what you are doing. ❤
I was also thinking that Winnie's spirit definitely has something to do with making sure that you are in the right place at the right time to help the lady who was stuck on the the trail.

Wow Jen, you are a hero!!!!!
You’re the best, Jen!
With class! I like what Jennifer wrote at the end of the video. 👍
Jen , you're such a good human !

Your trip probably went the way it did, with all the "weird" things that happened, to put you in that perfect spot at the perfect time.
I definitely think your sweet Winnie had a paw in that rescue! ❤🐾
thats wild! you're a hero!
You’re just such a good, thoughtful person. I would never have considered the monetization, but very generous of you to instead donate.
Crazy trip but you probably saved a life all said and done! ❤
Whelp… everything comes full circle, sometimes your at the wrong place at the wrong time, this time you venture unknowingly and save a life🤟🏻
Jennifer you were meant to be there! I would have been rattled after that also! You handled it very well & thank goodness you did! You should feel good knowing how strong you are 🤗 I'm so happy the lady is safe & sound 🙏 On a happier note, mountains are always captivating! Take care on your next adventure 💜
I’ve seen a water bottle with all the national parks spots to place stickers on the spots once you’ve visited. It looks pretty awesome.
I would be terrified being lost alone in wilderness definitely a good idea to hike with a partner you never know thank god you were there.
Wow I’m in CO and hike solo and am so proud of you for helping her 😭 crazy that would happen on your first hike here! That’s why I always carry my inreach mini. Jen, god put you there for a reason… you are so brave now… I can’t believe how much you have grown… sooo freaking proud of you… I’m sorry if this sounds weird.. I’m a long time subscriber
Thank God you were there and you had cell service. Just goes to show that God has our paths planned.
This was such a special video. I definitely think Winnie was there with you. I’m so glad. ❤
You may have addressed this elsewhere, but do you have a National Parks passport?
Jenn, Wondery makes a water bottle that has the national parks stickers.
Colorado means red male form. First the rainbow (Winnie) then the lady in the red needing help. I remember winnie's little red snow shoes. It started with the city of Faith and a rainbow bridge. Love that Winnie oh and don't forget the bunny winnies nick name
So grateful to God you were there!!!!! You are a super Hero!!!!!
❤
I am so proud of how you reacted and just wanted to ask if you have anything to protect you if you come upon a wild animal like a cougar or a bear? I know a lot of hikers who think they won’t face wild animals if they are on trails that are well used. That is not always the case!
Oh . dang. Im in tears. How scary for her. So glad you listened and called. Be careful as things aren't always as they seem. Nice thing you did though. Be careful yourself as I've heard a lot of things planted on trails to stop women.(moms tender hears) Pls become very aware and very careful. (scams)
