- It was the year 1986, just a few days before Christmas, when both me and my wife Maria, still in our childhood, were in Porto Sang Giorgio, a small town in Italy with our families and many other missionaries from around the world, when we were shown the scenes of the Nativity right before us in a setting that would have remained in our memory for many years to come.
St. Francis of Assisi was the first in 1223 AD, remembering his recent visit to the Holy Land, desired to meditate on the humility and the poverty in which our Lord Jesus Christ decided to take flesh by recreating the scene in the stable of Bethlehem with a donkey and an ox, some hay and a manger.
Our desire is to bring this same experience to all our children and the ones of our borough... so on Sunday the 22nd of December at 3.00 pm on the grounds of Cabrini Community Campus in Honor Oak Park (SE23 3LE) London, we will be re-creating the scenes of the Nativity in a setting that will resemble the first Christmas. There will be characters, playing the roles of the Family of Nazareth, and there will be shepherds that with real sheep will come and visit the infant Jesus, there will be the three kings that riding real camels will come to pay homage to the Prince of Peace.
This is the 9th time since the first live crib we done in 2009. Each year we have seen how it has brought something new to Christmas and the joy of people coming together in the spirit of unity has brought a great deal of good to the hearts of children and adults alike.
