- Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) on Monday signed a controversial measure, known as the “anti-riot bill,” into law, which is aimed at “combating public disorder.”
The bill, which goes into effect immediately, requires that cities receive approval from the state before cutting their police budgets, and it raises the charge for protesters who destroy historical structures, including flags and memorials, to a felony.

49 other governors need to start taking notes from governor De Santis.
Especially Kate Brown (Governor of Oregon) because of Portland and the psychopaths out there.

They should also pass a law making doxxing a felony and protesting at someone's private residence .

@@sithpsychopath3189 apparently, you are a bigot. I am not a "karen" and being happy that leadership is moving forward with actually ENFORCING the laws already on the books is not being a Karen. It's already against the law to assault people with bricks, cement, bats, etc. It's already against the law to break and enter, let alone steal things that do not belong to the person. It's already against the law to set vehicles on fire and dismantle physical property owned by private individuals or the local community (i.e. vandalism, etc.). It's already against the law to stalk people, trespass, and a host of other things. All this bill does is correlate it to specific intents (rioting/looting, etc.) and hold local communities responsible for protecting their employees, their residents, and the property therein.
You know what else is anti-American? Having monuments to people who broke off and fought the United States as well as thinking officers should be able to use military grade equipment against civilians
There is no right to harass other people, hold them captive on highways and obstruct other peoples peaceful activities. The first amendment says you have the right to assemble peaceably. Doesn’t even say you can do it in the street.

and get this, idiot. There was this thing called the whisky rebellion right after the revolutionary war. They blocked the roadways and destroyed property. Guess what George Washington did?
The street is public property. As people have a right to be there they gave a right to protest. Where would you suggest people gather to protest? Your house?
@Mister Scoops roads still existed, they were just all dirt or like path clearings. The modern definition of a road doesn't have to apply 100% to use basic common sense/logic.
Holding municipalities financially liable for prohibiting law enforcement officers from Enforcing The Law... sounds legit!
I wonder how many mayors would have governed differently if the town would have to pay for the damage instead of citizens.

The drainage point of lead poisoned America
Love this guy! Smart bill.
What a diverse looking group.
indeed...
It is diverse - there are people descending from probably at least 30 different countries. Diversity is not limited to one level of skin tone. They are of different ages, have different faiths, educational backgrounds, may have inter-racial marriages/families, come from different parts of the country, etc. Trying to limit diversity so narrowly is a disservice to everyone. I'm personally a descendant of people from 6 different countries and the Cherokee Nation but I don't define myself by any one of them. I am an American. Everyone standing behind that podium is an American and supporting American values and the Constitution.
Well I'm glad you're well represented by that group of caucasians
And what does that have to do with the murdering of unarmed black men?
@@dickdesantis3110 what does rioting in a state where it didn't occur have to do with it? What does damaging public and private property have to do with it? The answer is NOTHING. The people/businesses that have been harmed in the riots are victims of a multitude of crimes and should have the ability to seek justice just like anyone else. And many of those men resisted arrest, were reaching for a weapon (their own or an officer's etc.) - being unarmed does not mean innocent - regardless of what color their skin is. Twice as many unarmed white men were killed in 2019, than black yet there are no protests for them. No protests when a non-white officer kills a black man either. None for native Americans or Asians either. And combined there were less than 100 "unarmed" deaths of all races out of 50 million public encounters that year. So, it doesn't suggest that cops are targeting black people as racists - they are responding to the scene of an alleged crime and react based on the behavior of the people once they arrive. And for many of them, it started with resisting arrest or reaching for a weapon. It would be great if this much energy was directed at celebrating the awesome contributions of black residents in these communities from the most humble to the most well known because those people are SERVING their communities and trying to make things better, instead of trying to make martyrs of often career criminals that actually make things more difficult for their communities - contribute to the high crime in the area, increase in drug use, persistent lack of diverse job opportunities, having a food desert, etc. let alone the physical abuse of women that some have perpetrated.
Thank y’all for all your service!! We need this kind of strength and commitment everywhere

Yes it's a good day when the state takes more power away from their citizens and more citizens cheer them on!
Awesome!!! I hope Oklahoma is next!! Protection for the people being hurt by all this nonsense is overdue
Oh, if that's how you feel, you'll love this. OK just passed a bill that would make it a-ok to run someone over as long as there are two or more people with the person you hit and run from. I kid you not.

@@IMSiegfried don't protest in the middle of the street. Thanks.
You don’t see the damage. You are supporting the empowerment of a police state. They have simply exaggerated the facts to support their agenda of more money more power. Look around? According to this guy, you should be able to look out your window and see the flames. But if you listen, he keeps reiterating the need to empower the police. Create fear.
Where are the masks of these people... bad example.
Thank you for protecting us in Florida God Bless you all 🤗
protecting u from what?
California needs this law, especially Oakland
I would love to see this in Colorado
