When they are not the one we like we get disappointed and hurt, and all that, and we get out of the relationship. The relationship is not meant for you to expect the other person to do what you want, but to do what you want yourself. To be what you are, in that relationship. To show who you are, how good you are, how you want to be, in that relationship. What kind of person you like to be in that relationship or in your marriage. For example you want to be good wife, a super wife, a tolerant one, a faithful one, or what you want to be in your role. Not to expect from your husband all the time how he is going to be, how he is going to act, how he is going to talk to you, because that is the problem with marriage. You got it all wrong if you think that way. You think now I miss him, I need her, my life will change wouldn’t that be fantastic? He or she is going to make me happy! It is not true you are going to make yourself happy or not in that relationship. But most of the time we expect the other partner to make us happy, to be the one in our picture, and that’s the problem. We forgot what we want to be, we forgot to make a schedule for us, make a kind of idealistic agenda for us. Instead we make an agenda for our partner and we make a kind of appointment, a kind of picture for our partner to fit in. Unfortunately both expect the same way and that’s how things fall apart. Check ourselves only In whatever situation we have to check ourselves only. What are we going to do with this situation, what are we going to be, what we want to show? Which part of goodness we want to present to the partner or to the world? Not that the other partner has to present us anything! Whatever he or she wants to present that’s their problem. Our problem is just ourselves, always us. Most people when they are married or have a partner or friendship, they all pay attention to the other part the other half and check it out, oh he did it wrong, she did it bad, oh she is no good, he is not nice. We forget that we have cheated ourselves by expecting the partner to be this, to be that, and do this, and do that; we are the one that are important. Any relationship, any situation for us is to learn, not the other person! The other person is a catalyst only. It is an excuse for us to exercise our power, our imagination about ourselves! Often marriages don’t work because we expect the other person to do what you want. So you check out your marriage and revise it. It’s not about your husband or about your wife, but about yourself, what kind of person you want to be, or to show him or her in this relationship. If he react good to it fine and if he or she doesn’t react good to it. It is not much you can do about it, but just check yourself if you are still balance, you are still in good tract, you are ok or you are not ok! And if he stay with you he stay, if he leaves he leaves. You can’t do much. Don’t lose yourself You cannot pay all attention to him and lose yourself and forget yourself and the more attention you pay to him or her, the more you go wrong and then the more he or she criticize you and then the relationship is finito. If you try to change yourself a 100% into another person it still won’t work, because he may expect something else. You never know what he or she expects, because everyone is different anyhow. The problem is everybody that gets into a friendship, or relationship, or a courtship, or a marriage, is trying to check out the other partner whether he is doing good or bad. Or you try also to please your partner until you lose completely yourself. Or you feel so resentful because you lose yourself because you are not yourself anymore and you feel bad and then you leave. Or you are kaput, or you fight, you became bitter with each other. Do whatever you think is best for you You don’t change yourself, you don’t lose yourself. You do whatever you think is best for you, show the best of yourself. You imagine I’m a faithful wife that’s what I want to be and that is the best of me that’s what I want myself to be…then be a faithful wife. But meanwhile he might be faithful he might be not, don’t get hurt. And if he is not faithful like you and if you still can tolerate it then stay, if you don’t then go. It is up to you, it’s yourself that you have to care about and you have to control. Do not try to control the other party and then we are not unhappy.
