When i got my sleep study done, when i found out i have sleep apnea, tge sleep doctor said that 8 hours of sleep is for adults over 25 and 9-11 is the recommended to under 25years old. So the 9 hours was probably to apply to all ages. But youre right, quality matters. 6-8 hours with my CPAP machine does me way better than 10+ without it.
