Love Dan Henry. Appreciate his hard work not just in producing wonderful watches but also create a website catalogue for all the watches he collected. I own the 1962 evil panda from him it's my favourite. I would be absolutely thrilled to see you wear his watches more often.
Another very tasteful piece by Dan Henry. My favorite so far is the 1962, but their decade hommage series even lends itsself to a whole mini collection.
The brilliance of TGV's introduction and the precision of his content set this channel apart where gents can learn across a broad strata of topics from horology, fashion and history. I love the Art Deco era, DH watches are stunningly beautiful and dressy. Thanks Guv'nor and keep safe!
I don't really need another dress watch, and I was never particularly interested in Art Deco but being a train driver I may have to pick this up purely for that amazing locomotive.
People might scoff at 270 for a quartz, but owning two DHs I can say the dial finish is superb. More often the value in something comes in the not so overt features.
I have a Graf Zeppelin dress chrono that cost a bit more than this. It has a 12h chrono and an alarm. And a marvelous strap. So while it may seem a lot, the value is justified.
@@tjs5770 Seiko's Mecaquartz is actually just a regular quartz as well. The only mechanical thing about it is its reset mechanism. Everything else is the same as with any other Seiko's quartz movement. For example, so-called sweeping hand actually ticks five times per second, just like on ordinary quartz 7T62 movement, which is way, way better movement than Mecaquartz. And, yes, that Graf Zeppelin (powered by Swiss Ronda quartz if I'm not mistaken) presents much better value than these beautiful Dan Henry watches, and the reason is - Seiko Mecaquartz, a rather overused pedestrian zero-jewel movement with awful legibility for 60-minute chrono counter. With Mecaquartz, Seiko should either do the full 12hr chrono, or at least present the cleaner 30-minute bi-compax version, with constant seconds instead of the useless 24hr subdial.
Vukota Brajovic I understand what it is. But it’s not just a regular quartz in the sense that it snaps back. I like the snap back and I’m willing to pay more for it than for a quartz chrono that doesn’t snap back.
As a lover of the Art Deco era in Architecture and jewelry, this watch appeals to me. My Mum introduced me to Charles Renee Macintosh’s buildings in Glasgow, and I just fell in love with that style. She was from Glasgow (Paisley). Great show, love it! Stuart
My watch just arrived today! Silver dial with the horizontal layout and date window. #0199, love the look and feel of it. Lighter than I thought it would be as well. Strictly a dress watch, for sure. A fine addition to my collection. Thank you for another great recommendation. I bought the Seiko Flightmaster because of your review some years ago as well.
I remember an earlier Dan Henry vid from you. But I didn't remember how really unique they are. I'm a big Art Deco fan so these all appeal so much to me. Pity a World War sent us from Deco to Bauhaus. As always well done and much appreciated.
Dan Henry watches usually look quite good, and yet again they produced an amazing looking watch. I’ve got 2 from the brand, and while I’ll likely still get a 1962 in the near future, but my love for Art Deco style and the beautiful dials on these watches are certainly doing their best to compete for my money.
Dan Henry makes a wonderful job. The intro was mega and then the HD kicked in and I was astonished at how brilliant this is. Great work and what a wonderful combination with the watch style.
I'll never get tired of your intros Tristano. I FINALLY ordered a spring bar tool for swapping straps lol. I put a black leather strap on my Casio Amw320 and it looks sharp. Those Dan Henry's look classy as heck as did that little pocket knife you had on the table.
I heard about Dan Henry from your channel. My wife just got me the 1962 Gold Chronograph for a 1 year wedding anniversary gift. I think this may be my next watch purchase.
Fantastic camera work TGV. It really shows off the fabulous detail and texture of these amazing value watches. Big thumbs up to Dan Henry too. The guy is a watch wizzard.

I think my 1939 scratches enough of the 30`s chrono itch for me to buy this offering, but bravo to Dan for yet another beautiful piece. I'm actually considering picking this up and selling mine due to the more period-accurate sizing. I'm sure they will be nearly if not totally gone by the holiday season. Great video as always TGV!
Fantastic review. I appreciate how you talk about the back story and inspiration for these watches. I totally agree with your "pros" and "cons" on this watch. I myself have the Dan Henry 1939 and love it. It is beautiful and well made. But like you said it is not an everyday watch. So I do not wear it as much as I would like to. My only critique to add about this new watch is the numerals are almost too small to read at a glance to tell the time. I understand they need to be small in order not to interfere with the other details on the watch face. That being said I would highly recommend a Dan Henry watch. He takes great pride in his designs and choice of materials. You will not be disappointed.
Mr. Gentry, I just started my watch collecting journey and I have learned so much from your videos. I bought my first two automatic watches and I'm absolutely loving them. After buying a seiko and an orient, my next purchase is going to be a vintage watch from ebay. Just wanted to say thank you for these awesome videos!
I love my 1939, Dan makes great watches. I had my card out ready to buy when it showed up on the site. However, I was disappointed that it was mecaquartz. I hope he comes out later with a manual or automatic version, the gilt is lovely!
I hope so too, even if it will cost 5 times as much, it will be amazing. In the meantime, enjoy your 39, such a classy choice my friend! Thank you, Best regards, TGV
@@hugedickerinokripperino5299 Also, we're talking about a chrono. A quartz one will offer you a lot for a comparatively lower price. Plus extra functions that you may get (e.g. an alarm).
Христо Мартунков, граф Лозенски exactly. getting a good reliable chrono that wouldnt bump the thickness way high would cost way more. Looking at his other watches you can tell he’s taking a more affordable approach. Im sure people would be willing to pay the price but it goes against what he’s been trying to accomplish.
Very marvelous Dan Henry with the black and gold very beautiful you don't see watches like it now and days to an age long pass and I think it represents its era quite beautifully
TGV, I love Dan Henry Homage watches. I've got a 63 and a 64. It's great that he has focused on "days gone by". I could never afford a Brietling 765AVI £9k (63) or a Top Time, but Dan's allowed me to get the feel at fraction of the price. I wish the 63 had meca quartz, that's my main gripe with that watch, why give it the others? (perhaps a review?) This 37 is definitely on my list. I agree with your choice, Silver and Gold any day. I had problems with my 64 and Dan replied in person. "Top Geezer!"
Good evening TGV, the 1937 is a very nice addition to the Dan Henry - line. I like the details on the dial, really elegant. My first thought was that the 1937 is be watch to wear when one travels by Zeppelin. Have a great evening!
Fantastic video. That Dan Henry!!! Just has the knack doesn’t he!!! Love the 1970 and pushed it in the best diver under 500 bucks category! This is so classy ! Love the dial!!!!!!
Thank you so much, you should try one of these. I think it would really suit you, at least considering reviewing one. Best regards, TGV Ps. Glad to hear about the books, I can't get enough of them either.
Another excellent video, TGV. Your videos are so educational and provide an excellent insight into the Dan Henry 1939s chronos. I also prefer the silver dial as it is so typical of that unique time in American history.
I've been looking around for a chronograph for a while now, and being a fan of art deco, the silver face version has caught my eye. It's gorgeous. Another one to add to my ever growing list of must buys.... Edit: I really want the 1962 Panda as well eugh!
TGV....doing what you do best...making us drool over watches.Your independent videos are by far the best, and these watches are a great buy in my opinion. Currently wearing a Tissot Chronograph Seastar. More than double the price of the Dan Henry.
Just ordered the silver with the gold accents. I think they all look great and I think it’s another win for Dan Henry. Though I do think that those that got the 39 might not bite on this one. I wanted the 39 in black but received mine broken and had to return it. I hope to have better luck this time around. I’ve been admiring this company since they launched and just love that they are getting affordable, stylish watches to the public
I've got an Undone with a very similar or identical movement, and it is as accurate as my Longines VHP, very remarkable. It is two years old and up to the second.
@@Qjemuse Mine is a Vintage Killy. And the movement is Seiko's VK61. Very reliable and accurate. The difference in seconds with the VHP has increased in the last 10 months to -1second for the Undone with respect to the VHP. But here is the full story: I set them both exactly with computer, internet, time on 29th February 2020. A very easy date to remember. So 1 year and almost 3 months ago. The Longines VHP has an accuracy deviation of 10sec/year. It is the Flagship from around 2002, not the latest model. And its accuracy up until today is +2seconds in all that time, 15.5 months. So, it is doing much better than expected. But, as I said, the Undone is 1 second behind the Longines, so it has a deviation of actual time of only +1second in 15.5 months... Pretty amazing. I didn't expected at all. Maybe the temperature were I keep it is very constant, because is way better than what is expected.
Great review of the watch and brand, i recently purchased my first Dan Henry and it's a great watch, great build quality and feels and looks more expensive than it's price.
I bought my first seiko and i gotta thank you TGV for introducing them to me on here. I learn so much and i am always intrigued with your videos. Stay Blessed dude👍👍👍
Have ten Dan Henry's and rotate between them daily-weekly. Absolutely gorgeous to look and and wear. 1939's, 1947 (Gold hands) & 1964's are favorites. Also have the very rare 1972 (only 28 made) with papers personally signed by Dan. Even though many are quartz, the dial executions rank 9.5 out of ten!

Nice piece. 39mm is a bit small for me, however, I picked up a 44mm 1970 and what a watch! Every element on this watch is spot on. I love this diver and has become a permanent. Nice to see you're in such great spirits T. -Diego
I love your intros it’s so pleasing and artistic, by the way I’m also from São Paulo, Brazil and I didn’t knew about that brand and it’s story, thank you for sharing !
So glad to hear, I am glad you approve, it feels almost disrespectful to talk a out luxury watches with so many people hurting right now. Having said that, I will always cover all levels. Thank you my friend, I always appreciate the comment. Best regards, TGV
Anyone wanting a real 1937 chrono for not too much money have an ebay search for Landeron 47. The movements were only made in 1937 and while some examples go for well over a thousand, I picked up a recently serviced Rotary for less than $600usd and it's amazing to get that real slice of history.
I am a fan of Dan Henry watches, but I agree with TGV that a manual Venus movement (Seagull ST19) would be better. That's why I went with Geckota W-02 Vintage Mechanical Chronograph Dress Watch for $375 - only $100 more than the Dan Henry and mechanical movement. I have three DH 1970 Divers, just not a fan of quartz movements.
Superb review, for a superb watch, and the only where we could see the movement. Thx ! Too bad the movement insert is plastic, it wouldn't have cost so much to have a metal one. Don't really agree on the reliabulity of the ST-19 chrono, I have several of them, one of it being more than 12 years and got its first service after 10 years... Although not worn every day of course. Regarding the price : Seiko VK63 stands between 30 and 40 USD (for endusers) and the Seagull ST-19 can be found at around 90 USD. So not much of a price difference on the endproduct. I agree with you, a mechanical movement would make the watch a dream for collectors. Again, thx for your brilliant review.
Never thought watching a video would cost me £250.
Same thing happened to me with the 1962. I was watching the video and then BAM I'm $260 poorer 😅
MrXcman92 $315. Extra strap. Have 1 other DH in my collection.

Nice piece. 39mm is a bit small for me, however, I picked up a 44mm 1970 and what a watch!
Every element on this watch is spot on. I love this diver and has become a permanent.
Nice to see you're in such great spirits T.

I'm extremely impressed with this brand. I like so many of them.
Typicality I don’t care for chronographs. They’re just not my cup of earl grey tea....but this one gets my warp drive going
I think I have caught the Dan Henry bug after watching this. Another great review, many thanks TGV!
Love the use of CBOT in the montage. I worked there for several years love that building!
first thought "jaeger lecoultre master chronograph". beautiful watch
You know your watches :D
Thank you,

Thank you. because of you I'm in watch game). Best regards and gratitude from Ukraine
Love the Art Deco styling, love Dan Henry watches
Nice lineup. There’s a nice and noticeable difference between models that show some thoughtful design decisions etc. Thanks for the first look!
Looks like a great watch. If I was more of a dress watch person, I’d be super into it.
Very beautiful watch. Very nice review. The photography is very informative. Thanks
I love your intros it’s so pleasing and artistic, by the way I’m also from São Paulo, Brazil and I didn’t knew about that brand and it’s story, thank you for sharing !
Definitely the white dial with the gold and blue hands :-)
Intro looked amazing, also a great video, i think the watch looked great aswell!
I love these budget videos, we need more videos like this that focus on some more affordable options. Thank you, TGV!
So glad to hear, I am glad you approve, it feels almost disrespectful to talk a out luxury watches with so many people hurting right now. Having said that, I will always cover all levels.
Thank you my friend, I always appreciate the comment.
Best regards,
TGV
Anyone wanting a real 1937 chrono for not too much money have an ebay search for Landeron 47. The movements were only made in 1937 and while some examples go for well over a thousand, I picked up a recently serviced Rotary for less than $600usd and it's amazing to get that real slice of history.
I just checked out the timeline website you mentioned. It's truly amazing. Never knew it existed.
Couldn't wait, just bought th e 1937.
This makes my fourth Dan Henry, er. . . maybe one more.
Great vid and thank you!
Always the best reviews with TGV
I love the black and brown dial that would look fantastic in bronze!
Big fan of what Dan is doing. I own both the 1964 panda and 1962 in blue. Amazing watches for the money.
Finally a new Dan Henry model! Looks great!
Every time you make a video on this watch company the more I want one..... you are a bad influence on me my friend! Loved the new intro
Haha, well my good friend, it has the same effect on me lol so you are not alone!
You have good taste, what can I say?!
The Urban Gentry those who have good taste, learn from the best!
Absolutely beautiful watches.
Wow this thing is beautiful in Gilt. Great Vid TGV!
Thank you so much Drew :D

I am a fan of Dan Henry watches, but I agree with TGV that a manual Venus movement (Seagull ST19) would be better. That's why I went with Geckota W-02 Vintage Mechanical Chronograph Dress Watch for $375 - only $100 more than the Dan Henry and mechanical movement. I have three DH 1970 Divers, just not a fan of quartz movements.
Great put together video Tristano, you do an excellent job describing the watch, I look forward to your reviews. Fab intro too - very professional!
Loving the new designs of these! Dan Henry puts out some amazing watches!
Whatta introduction. Congrats man. Keep growing with the show. Cheers from Brazil.
Dan knows how to create sheer elegance , thanks TGv 💫
Well said.
