Some friendships transcend lifetimes. In A Dog’s Journey, the sequel to the heartwarming global hit A Dog’s Purpose, beloved dog Bailey finds his new destiny and forms an unbreakable bond that will lead him, and the people he loves, to places they never imagined.
Bailey (voiced again by Josh Gad) is living the good life on the Michigan farm of his “boy,” Ethan (Dennis Quaid) and Ethan’s wife Hannah (Marg Helgenberger). He even has a new playmate: Ethan and Hannah’s baby granddaughter, CJ. The problem is that CJ’s mom, Gloria (Betty Gilpin), decides to take CJ away. As Bailey’s soul prepares to leave this life for a new one, he makes a promise to Ethan to find CJ and protect her at any cost.
Thus begins Bailey’s adventure through multiple lives filled with love, friendship and devotion as he, CJ (Kathryn Prescott), and CJ’s best friend Trent (Henry Lau) experience joy and heartbreak, music and laughter, and few really good belly rubs.
Directed by Emmy winner Gail Mancuso (TV’s Modern Family), A Dog’s Journey is produced by Gavin Polone (A Dog’s Purpose), and written by W. Bruce Cameron & Cathryn Michon, and Maya Forbes & Wally Wolodarsky, based on the best-selling novel by Cameron. Ok. Lots of people are wondering who Henry Lau is. Well.. he's a Chinese-Canadian artist who used to be a Super Junior member. He's fluent in cantonese, mandarin, korean, english and speaks conversational french as well. He plays many instruments, can rap, sing, dance, and is very friendly and compassionate. He's very very popular for his various skills and talent to make people laugh without offending anyone. He's quite a gentleman. My dog that I had since I was 7 passed away yesterday morning. His name was Buddy Love and I'm really excited to see this movie. I already watched A Dogs Purpose and loved it. It made me feel so much better. With the little strength Buddy had left he came in my room and fell down. I gave him my pillow and blankets. Buddy was my world and I feel so guilty because I didn't know what to do. I stood next to him trying to keep myself together. I told him if he goes to heaven there will be a big bed that he can lay on and he can eat whatever he wants and he can run in a field with Sadie. (My stepmoms dog that sadly got hit by a car) and he can look down on us anytime he wants and then I told him if he get's reborn I hope he has the best life with love and laughter. And then I brought up our amazing journey that we had together. As I'm typing I'm crying. He was always there for me when I was sad, Lonley or angry. I love you so much Buddy Love. I'm so sorry you had to suffer but I hope that you're in a better place now. And I pray that you can hear me when I need you. We love all love and miss you and we will forever keep you in our hearts and I'll think about you everyday of my life.

My fur baby Remedy just passed away on April 3rd of this year.. I had her 11 great years and when she made her journey over the rainbow bridge I haven't known what to do with myself, I've cried everyday. She was my best friend, but even through the tears watching this movie made me feel so much better. I hope she's out there making someone else's life as amazing as she did mine!

These two movies capture the essence of owning a beloved pet. They become part of the family and although we know one day it will be time to say goodbye we still love them anyway and cherish the time we had with them.
People thought a dogs purpose was sad...this one is like having a knife being driven into your heart then twisted every 20 minutes. I mean this in the best of ways, while these films do make you sad and cry, the true purpose is to make you appreciate the little companion's we have at our sides.

I just screened A Dogs Journey again, but this time with the directors commentary [Gail Mancuso...] on, and I have to say that this film in a very short time has become one of my all time favorite movies.
A Dog's Purpose had me in tears most of the time, as my own dog is really starting to show her age and slow down, and although we got her out of a kill shelter back in 2010, as she was a to be destroyed dog - almost 10 years later now, I can honestly say that my life is forever changed by this one rescue dog, who in turn rescued me.
During A Dog's Purpose, I started to wonder what my dog's purpose was... and it is possible that it is now leading somewhere or to someone I would have otherwise not ever met....
But I have to say that A Dogs Journey was so good - not only as a sequal, but as a stand alone movie, as everything - the cast, the dogs, the filming, the music... it was all just right, and as a whole absolutely perfect.
Gail Mancuso, outstanding job.... BRAVO !!!

She needs you like I needed you.” That sentence honestly makes me cry every time, it’s so moving, and when you see Cj with Molly/Bailey under her blanket in her bedroom it’s emotional because in the first movie, that’s exactly what Ethan did with Bailey. I like to think that our pets come back to us when they leave. Just like the song by Phillip Phillips. “I love you long after you’re gone, gone, gone...” ❤️

I'm here for both lol. I'm originally here for the movie since I loved the first one, when I found out that Henry Lau is in it, I got even more excited. Henry Lau btw is a Chinese-Canadian actor, musician and singer/artist. He currently is a solo artist, about a year ago though he had been a part of a popular South Korean boy group, known as Super Junior. He also speaks five languages (English, Cantonese, Mandarin, French, Korean). oh, and did I mention that he's also really cute? ;)
