- Dimapur is a commercial hub of Nagaland, and it has a major Business establishment, but with many faults. In the month of June, NLTV reported on the illegal encroachment in the New Market area. Today, NLTV went on a ground report and found that the vendors were continuing to sell vegetables/fruits in the short-cut lane-by that connects GS road to New Market. It was found that many illegal businesses were running on the public footpath openly without any restriction from the concerned department and unions, causing problems for the public to pass by. Despite warnings given to them by the public that reside in and around that particular area, they still continue running their business, making the area dirty and unhygienic.

Why why! Naga Street vendor are not allow to do a business for an hour in the evening at city Town, why all these non-local are legally allowed in footpath for whole day it's very difficult for padestrians crossing. I request concern authority to look into this matter seriously.

Our own local vendors have no place. Should not allow infiltrated vendors from other states. This encourages and swarms every nook and corner. Let them do business in their own state. Draw up guidelines for migrants. Construct vendor stands for locals. ILP and WORK PERMIT for migrants. Deport all beggars and sex workers. Keep Dimapur clean and hygienic. Nagas have own problems so why make Nagaland a dumping ground. If DMC, Police and administration are blind with no reasoning. The Municipal and DSU can do much.

I would rather bear some inconvenience and let these poor street hawkers have their right to earn their livelihood. Do some research and you'll find that Supreme Court of India in its ruling held that public pavement and foothpath are not exclusively meant for pedestrians only and it may be used by steet hawkers and vendors and for other purposes too.

This is the administration weakness. Instead of collecting tax why not check whether they have ILP and TRADE LICENCE to sell in Nagaland. Deport them. Don't encourage. Government must issue guidelines. DMC has a part to play. Don't just rush to collect tax
