ahhhh thats a good one
When he said “ once you give out a free Beat you can’t charge them ever” I felt that. WORK with artists that are serious about their craft
💯
without the music there is no artist.. everyone should appreciate everyones efforts and collabs fr 🚀
It's not entirely true at all though...
TB signed 2 Atlantic ?
If you're the one who's reaching out to them, they'll buy from you later on if they're "buyers" If not they will not buy either way and a lot of artists will not fuk wit you if you just tryna sell your beats. There's just too many producers right now hitting up rappers tryna sell. You gotta give something of value to start a good business relationship. If they come to you, that's a different story though
As the Joker once said.."If U're good at something, NEVER do it for free"...
Factz
I’m right with ya
100%... cuz nothing is fo free
Anyone looking for free beats isn’t serious enough about their work I’ve sold beats to 13 year old rappers who probably used their moms credit card but he was serious enough
Dang.
Those 13 year old be the best clients tho

it's meant to happen. You've inspired me homie 😎

Can we get an update?
@@directedbypreston Still goin strong with talent searches. it's only been 2 weeks which feels like waaay longer tbh. Sending tracks out so something big is def coming. about to sell my first few beats in a bit. went from 7 plays a weeek, to 200 plays a week on soundcloud!
@@kozmikbeats7756 Is that increase in streams just from sending it out?
Facts about charging for beats..... Homies stop being homies because I wanted something in return for my work....
I feel like bricks is right about not selling your stuff free but sending beats out free also helps and speeds up the process of getting your recognition.
Good point man. And now that I think about it more, maybe picking 5, AND ONLY 5, beats that you’re willing to give for free in exchange for an email. And you can market them on UA-cam and BeatStars as free too. Might be a solid idea, but I’m not willing to sell 50 beats for $100 or anything like that.
I personally tried it but all i got was people that were asking for even more free beats.Hopefully other prods don't get the same results in case they try it
Is this a fact though?
Either be viewed as gucci or sketchers. Nun for free and nun gets run back

*My mind grew in knowledge by 10% after this. I appreciated this interview cause it really gave a blue print for branding yourself as a producer*
💯 branding 💎s
I sell my beats exclusive for $1000. Some industry producers say it’s okay to send free beats. Some say that you shouldn’t. This a touchy subject. I use my discretion when deciding to do so our not. I sense that there’s a disconnect between internet producers and industry producers too.
jeez
Sound like you could start off on the internet to get known and promo. Then, when the music you produce start doing numbers and hits, start selling more exclusively, and into a industry producer. At that point you have a name behind yourself and evidence of your work.
@@Tj956 i think that if u are a small producer it may help u build some relationships and careers with others that just start, but after some you start to grow and perhaps there are people that hit u up like big artists
Man ima keep it a buck Producergrind really done helped me grow fr with this. Music
appreciate the love fam!
And thats on me
“You’re a music production company” thats a fckn gem bros! In the end of the day we must leave our beatmaking passion to the side and act like a company if we wanna beat the goals... This means we must make market researches and really treat our shit like a product cz if we dont, we must rely on luck to be successful 🤷♂️
@Music Biz Moriarty yea, i partially agree bro, luck plays some role fosho
I really took this to heart. I'm a beat producer from Chicago and I'm sitting on too much music with no idea how to move it. Thank you and Bricks for this GUT CHECK!!
The mind set thing is crazy! I realize I kinda didnt believe there are a lot of rappers with real money
@Music Biz Moriarty independent rappers who buy beats. As a producer growing up and learning, especially in a place with an almost non existent rap and hip hop scene, there were never rappers to sell beats to. No rappers who had their stuff together to the point they would actually invest in themselves. So after a decade of trying to produce in that kind climate so to speak, you get it in your head that there arent enough rappers who buy beats to make a living on the independent tip and everyone who is successful via soundlick, youtube, beatstars, etc; are anomolous. It takes a lot of education to unlearn that
"Its a mind set thing" - funny marco x bricks
There’s no correct way, everybody has their own journey, you want to soak up game from everybody (even if you wouldn’t swap positions with them) find local music artist that you find talented and build with them for free (if y’all both broke tryna make it don’t charge em), start a sound, start a wave. Then you’ll build your brand, catalogue and networking at the same time and the clients will come, that’s when you charge folks.
💯 fam super 💯
People in my city small I jus want dem 2 grow 👍🏼👍🏼 shi wil catch up.
Thank you.
Has it worked for you?
@@sonnydee5135 it’s working, won’t say it worked until I’ve done everything I’m supposed to you know?
Hes talking about the front end aspect of selling beats ...theres also a back end game producers play but your paperwork has to be in order to get those pub and royalty checks...i sold a beat for $650 front end..backend i get 50% off publishing also 3points off every record sold in mechanical royalties(i get a bmi bag, distrokidd bag, soundexchange bag, harryfox agency bag... even if i gave the artist the beat i still will win because of the nature of my contracts
Anybody need a consultation hit me up
this is the best interview on producergrind hands down
💪💯🙏
Bricks took me back to school when he said "we gon use basic maths ryt here"
😂😂😂
We need to collectively raise the price of our beats as a producer community. $20 is usually the bare-minimum for a MP3 lease. But we should normalize a NEW price tag for that. Like $50 should the new minimum standard for a lease
$100 for standard lease should be minimum
@@LoKlassProductions True. I just threw out $50 just to be nice to those broke 14 year-old rappers
I never sold a lease and I price them 50. I only sell MP3 wav and exclusive
@@ejcertified would a lease be an mo3 or wav...
i mean either way idk where to start should i sell like mp3 cheaper and wav more or like wav, lease and mp3 i rlly dunno
@@4am446 this how I do it. MP3 cheapest wav a little more. Lease comes with wav and track stems . Good staring prices are 15 MP3 20 wav wav 50 lease (if u post everyday like me)
Brooo when he said “you charging what you think YOU can afford” I felt that shit wow
Metro used to give away beats for free, it’s all on your relationship with the artist and if you both have a super connection or not.
Def dropped jewels on this video the mindset and dealing with artist willing to invest in their music is key
Wild ass intro had me on the edge of my seat😭

I've moved to London 5 years ago from the Cayman Islands to chase my dream, didn't know anyone or have a place to stay, absolute faith in God and hard work got me where I'm at today so I'm grateful , I'm still trying to get my beats out there to artists as it's a "who you know, not what what know" situation so networking is major over here and coming from a small island where everyone knows you to being a nobody here is tough, but if you want it bad enough...where there's a will there's a way!

dis interview dope asf 🔥 bricks been teaching game fasho ‼️ producers, don’t give up, keep applying pressure 🚀 we all gone be up
8 months later this interview is genius, helped me a lot.
Bricks had me dead the whole interview. Especially when he was talking about dunking the laptop
I totally understand where he's coming from and he definitely has good points. But making type beats on youtube is a good way of building your fan/customer base especially for people that don't live in the states and don't have access to the "industry". I'm pretty sure you can do both tho no? Sell leases for people that can't afford expensive beats and sell unreleased exclusives to artists that can.
Regardless, great video. It made delete all my useless instagram posts lol image is indeed important!

Listen I just started producing I attended Full Sail University online classes for minute due to financial situation I couldn’t finish but I gain a lot of knowledge within that period of time attending Full Sail and what’s crazy is I was attending for the wrong thing which ended up helping me to do the right thing I’m a singer songwriter Music Engineer now producer I was one of those artists are used to go to UA-cam for beats to write songs to and somehow someone even bought the beach what he sold it after put all my blood sweat and tears into writing a song by the track Long story short this video was very helpful and makes a lot of sense if you feel like you’re worth nothing then you’re sell nothing you have to know your worth in the music industry or music business people get it confused it’s a music business like he said your brand your business thanks for the helpful tips
This is THE most sauce you've had in a video Im bout to roll down to atlanta right NOW with a camping chair and sit outside gucci studio
love producergrind for showing free beats and no free beats on the same channel goes to show it’s no secret sauce everyone has their own path 👏🏼
I truly know what he talking about first hand when it comes to giving free beats or anything for that matter and then charging later....It's hard to do real talk. Lots of gems in this episode! That trade places thing is 100!
I'm so glad I saw this Podcast today. Bricks has assured me that I'm on the right path. I just need to start a good marketing strategy. I've never been one to just give away my creations for free, even when my beats weren't up to par, because Ninjas always looking for something free. And I tell 'em like this, you're an investment, so invest in yourself. Like when a ho tells my big ass to pay like I weigh I tell these rappers hey if you pay nothing then obviously you are nothing so I'm not trying to waste my time with you!
Keep up the good work ProducerGrind. I love y'all's podcast!
