That transfer case is suppose to take Mercon LV atf not gear oil. It also says on the label on transfer case ?
I’m sorry. I think you just used the gear oil bottle with mercon in it huh. Lol
Yes the fluid was red, so it was Mercon LV ,not gear oil, as gear oil is
Green
What happened with the gloves . Lol we all have them use them 1/2 of the time
I use Valvoline XL-12 approved fluid. Mercon LV which is the old MErcon fluid before Mercon V is the recommended Ford fluid, like the label
you see on the case. Gear oil is NOT the fluid to use, only on front and rear differential.
I think he was only using the gear oil bottle for the pump. Kevon used the right fluid (Mercon LV).
Good job on the video. I know it’s a pain to try and work while recording.
I like to pump in a little LV atf to flush, before putting the bottom plug back in
How many quarts you put in
I happen to notice that too that people keep saying that it needs to be torqued, but nobody ever gives you the number that it should be torque to. I’m about to do mines as well, so I’d kinda like the torque number. I guess I’ll look it up.
Snug up on the head of the wrench and tighten to snug. Don't use leverage and your fine.
What is the transfer case ratio? (this is a Borg-Warner 4469 transfer case right?)
Is the oil around the bolts normal? Mine has the same thing I just recently noticed it cleaned it but haven’t noticed any leaks
mine also has the same thing, worse then this i didnt know if it was normal either
Looked pretty dark...I just hit 30 k on my 2017, going to do all the fluids exc coolant at next oil change
Hello, good video, but no word about plugs torque???
ha sounds like me when i work on a car
15-17 is LV 18 up is ULV
@@Damian-vv3iy If I could post a pic I would 2018 owners manual states LV for the transfer case and ULV for transmission. The deal told me mid year 2017 and up use ULV so i dont know about your book I would double check with the dealer.
@@TheCoryjones26 it literally says on the sticker which is on the transfer case to use mercon lv on my 2020 f150 same thing it says in the owner's manual
I think it's best to change it out every 30,000 mi
FYI guys he did put Mercon LV fluid in the transfer case - he simply used an empty diff bottle and filled it with Mercon LV probably because only that diff bottle thread at the top allowed him to use the hand pump.
