  • Do you have a garden? Probably, you would like to beautifully decorate it. In this free DIY tutorial, I show very simple and original garden decoration element. It is a ball made of string and sand-cement mixture. There are people who call this material 'concrete' but they are wronng. )) It is cement, for sure.

    Very nice! How long do these hold up outdoors? Have you left them out in winter weather?

      Thank you for the feedback. The balls like shown in the video have been in my garden for three summers and are still safe and sound. Rain doesn't harm them at all. But you need to hide them from snow and ice.

      Just deco. It will be flattened, if you press on it hard.

    what kind of cement do you use ?

    • @DIYwithLucy
      @DIYwithLucy  Рік тому

      I use ready-made sand-cement mixture. It is available in hardware stores in our country. But you can prepare this mixture by yourself. Proportion of cement to sand is 1:2. You can use usual cement or the Portland one that is the best option, although it is more expensive. But notice that I add into the mixture a tile adhesive, also. It is shown in the video.

      when do you add the tile adhesive and what kind? If you don't mind telling me. Thanks Bonnie

      I add it directly into the sand-cement mixture and than mix it with water. As to the adhesive, I don't remember the exact brand. This video is one of my the oldest ones. As far as I remember, that was an adhesive for tiles, which we use to finish our kitchen walls.

    May I ask how you could sustain the strength not to be broken or damaged by small children kicking these balls?

    • @DIYwithLucy
      @DIYwithLucy  Рік тому

      My answer is very simple. NO children kicking, NO cats or dogs playing. )))) These balls are just for decoration, when they lay steadily.

      Fortunately, neighbour cats ignore these balls in my garden. So, they are still safe and sound.

    How did you get the balloon out!?

      You can see it in the video at 1:35-1:50. I use a needle and tweezers for this purpose.
