I'm excited about this one. It seems like a lot of the pattern tutorials I encounter are trying to get me to buy a bunch of really niche tools and materials, and simply take too much time to tie. This looks like a winner. So does it ride with the hook-point on top?
Yeah, but you can't get much of a jigging motion with the deer hair head. Flies with these heads aren't for jigging. I fish a pattern I call a Bunny Flash that is tied with the zonker underneath as you suggest and with a heavy head. It's great too. Just different. Can't do it all with one fly.
