I'd like to say a massive thanks for this video. Today I repaired my own Megadrive using a donor board, it worked a treat. Wouldn't have known about it, if it wasn't for your video.
You should make a region switch mod. Since you use a RGB cable. Buy a 3 position toggle switch with 6 pins. You can find on Internet how to wire it up to JP1 JP2 JP3 JP4. In this way you play Pal/NTSC with the 3 positions EU/US/JP
Hey, thanks ever so much for commenting and subscribing... I will definitely do a region free mod together with a 60hz mod, but I want to do it with an oscillator!
Thanks for the video so i was able to resolve the same issue with the vram from a clone console and it worked :D thanks for the solution. I believe any vram from any sega if its in the correct package and pins even from the clones will just be fine ‘ in my case there is no mismatch issue as well they can go togather as well. Hope this helps
Per essere il primo video non è male, persevera nelle riparazioni, in questo mondo di usa e getta fa bene perdere un pò di tempo ed avere la soddisfazione di riportare in vita oggetti che ci ricordano un entusiastico passato.
It's hard to tell just like that, might be the video ram is defective so works once it's heated up or maybe the VPU? If you have an oscilloscope you can download the datasheet of the RAM and verify if the relevant pins and see if data input/output is working. Alternatively you could attempt to exchange the VRAM (not excessively expensive) and see what happens then. I had a similar problem with an Amstrad CPC 464 (video will come in the future): all seemed to work well, but after 5/10 mins the screen would garble up. Turns out it was the RAM. Hope this helps!
@@theretrohandyman7708 can i somehow contact with you? My japanese sega MD1 VA1 there are almost the same problems. In some early games like sonic the hedgehog and sunset riders everything works fine, but in games like aladdin, the lion king, mortal kombat, sonic 3d blast. Character or environment sprites become a mess, which can cause games to freeze. I have absolutely no idea what this problem is and how to solve it.
I've recently connected my Megadrive to a HDMI screen and it works fine. The only problem is that when I select 2 players, the image becomes glitchy. Currently I only have Sonic 2 so I can't tell if it will be a problem with other games. Is there anything I can do to fix it?
I know I am late to the party here. But I believe I know what your issue is. If you are referring to two player split screen in sonic 2, the resolution changes from that of a typical Sega genesis game and that resolution is likely incompatible with your current setup.
@@theretrohandyman7708 I actually figured out it was my tv! Picked up an old CRT and it has some issues. Just so relieved it wasn’t my genesis. Thank you and I subbed!

Welcome aboard! I have made a new video, it contains a simple mod!
Great how to. Any idea where I can purchase the vampire? Thanks.

Cool vid, keep it up! Subscribed.
Wohoo thanks! I will try my best!
My Mega Drive has the same problem but i get a clear picture after twenty minutes. Is it the same issue or something else?

I would reflow the solder joints before doing anything else but I'm probably too late

Hey, not sure. How are you connecting the megadrive to HDMI?
@@theretrohandyman7708 I'm using a KAICO adaptor. Could just be a problem with the game?

How does he only have 32 subs
So my genesis works completely fine, it’s just the white colors are tinted yellow. Game still runs perfectly, do you think I’m having the same issue?
I wouldn't know, but my first guess would be the chip that outputs the video, possibly the IC11 SONY CXA1145M.
