I think everyone wonders the meaning of the petroglyphs. I lived and traveled in the same general area while I was on active duty and had the same thoughts. I don't pretend to know if they had meanings, directions, or documented alien visits, or recipe's for venison...who knows for sure? I do know that while I lived and traveled in Turkey I visited sites that were as old, or older and found graffiti. Some was from Romans, some from Europeans crusading through the 11 century, and some were similar to the ones in the four corners area. Maybe "Bored Indians" is a good guess and could be applied universally. It sure makes a person wonder, if you think about such things.
