Great video! I have the 2021 Trance Advanced and absolutely love the bike. Such a fun bike to ride after minimal setup. I'm still fine tuning the suspension and know it will just get better. I have not rode Aliso yet and looking forward to it. The rock gardens on Lynx and Rock it look pretty gnarly, but from your video your suspension soaked it up really good. My son and I ride Ladera regularly and hope to see you on the trails.
Sounds good. In a perfect world I would have gotten the Advanced, but with the same specs give or take a few. I am looking at upgrading the bars, but the 35mm diameter is new to me so I need time. also would like to upgrade the wheels. I already have a carbon rear in the garage so I'm halfway there. The bike soaked up everything on Rockit and Lynx....Mor...

nice, what drivetrain and brakes did that come with? I would have loved the Advanced but I couldn't find it with what I wanted. Heck, I felt lucky to find this one. It's a good bike
@@turntabillist 2020 XT build. When Jax built it up I think they screwed a few things up. I've had to replace the rear wheel because it was just braking spokes on almost every ride. The shock had to be replaced, then when I had the new one rebuilt it was missing parts. It took the shop over a month to install the shock because they didn't know how. They replaced a brake lever and fouled both rotors. The rear brake has never been right since. I'm hoping a new barb and olive will fix it. The knock block was replaced and the bike still doesn't feel straight. It was just in for a suspension issue and I got 1 ride in before I had to take it back in. My wife joked that the bike has been in the shop more days than I have ridden it.
@@MTBMOR I see. Sounds like a nightmare and glad to hear you're moving on! A 2020 is too new to be having all those issues. To be fair, and not to bash on Jax, I've had both very good and poor service from them which I guess could be said about most bike shops in general. Trouble is, Jax is a large chain and the turnover for mechanics is huge. Sometimes they have great mechanics and sometimes they don't. My experience anyway...
It was and I wanted Shimano brakes and I was hopeful for a Shimano drivetrain. This bike checked off all three boxes. Being a Giant was another plus. I got lucky because this bike has been a blast in the little I have ridden it.
thanks for the vid! this is the bike im looking to buy i am 5 8 almost 5 9 should i go with a small or medium ....i will be cutting the bars down too... fyi im a 60 yr old new to mtb but a pretty good athlete my goal is to grow my skills into this bike !
I a medium and I'm 5'10" after rounding up so I'd say you would want a medium. I feel like the cockpit is on the short side so it should be a great fit. I left the bars alone and I am happy with the width. On my other bike I cut the bars to 775 so leaving them at 780 works for me. This bike can handle so much. I rode it at Snow Summit on Opening day. I had a few hard landings in the rear that I think can be fixed with a token in the shock. I haven't pushed this bike in gnarly chunk yet. It was great on 5 Oaks, Chutes Ridgeline, and Mentally Sensitive.
I've ridden an XC bike Specialized Epic for years, Trek Fuel 9.8( ve4ry similar) and Trek Slash ( Enduro ). The Trance X is way more plush than the Fuel, but it doesn't feel as fast. The High/Low option on the Trance is huge. I raced the bike in the high position and I wish I had a longer stem, but in the low position it felt great. I am really pleased with the Trance X. I was shocked it was faster than my Slash in a mini XC course considering the Slash is much lighter due to the better build ( at a much higher price point)
Yes, I flipped it. I made a short for the process too. I felt like it shortened the cockpit when I flipped it. I did an xc race (Over the Hump) with it flipped. If I wanted more power I would keep it flipped, get a longer stem and longer cranks to take advantage of the higher bottom bracket. I plan on using this bike for more trail/Enduro style riding so I will flip it back into low and enjoy the suspension.

I have this same bike, it took me a few weeks to get used to the geometry, Felt so different from my past bikes.
I feel I am sitting way more upright even in the Low position. I am also trying to get used to the shorter cranks. My other bikes are all 175
@mtb more, curious what made you choose the Trance X? Was it partially about availability?
It was and I wanted Shimano brakes and I was hopeful for a Shimano drivetrain. This bike checked off all three boxes. Being a Giant was another plus. I got lucky because this bike has been a blast in the little I have ridden it.

I think the bike turns better than my slash. I need to go test this on Centipede and the entrance to SC.

I have a medium and I'm 5'10" on a good day. It fits my daughter too who is 5' 8"
