[EDIT] this is pure speculation and theory, just a compilation of stuff i’ve noticed in runs that seemingly tie into some ‘karma’ system. this whole thing is just a theory, so please don’t take this as fact, as none of it has been confirmed by the devs. hey case, just wanted to let you know, there are a few aspects in the game that can be a pretty big tell on whether or not your run is good or garbage. at any point during the beginning of the survival stage of the run, one of two things will appear on the walls, both of which aren’t unintentional. *Man chopping Tree:* this symbol, present on the WR run on the right wall, just below the lock, symbolizes luck and good karma, which is why timmy was able to haul so much. the run had good luck, thus reducing the chances for bad events to happen by a significant margin. however… *Bloody Handprint:* this symbol, present in your run on the far center wall, to the left of the water and food cabinet, symbolizes bad luck and equally shit karma. pretty much the opposite of the man chopping a tree image. this is why your scavenges were terrible, along with you having almost back-to-back raids. *so, what can you do to prevent/facilitate these? simple.* to prevent/facilitate the spawn of either, you need to perform actions that either boost or lower your karma. off the bat, not collecting every family member lowers your karma, since they’re essentially left for dead. whatever action you perform from thereon can boost/lower your karma, but once a symbol appears on the wall, there’s no getting rid of it. the symbols usually appear 5-10 days after you begin the main game, so do something quickly in the time you have. *Boosting Karma:* to boost your karma, do things that boost the family’s sanity/health. care for them, and make sure they never get close to the brink of death *ever.* if they’re thirsty, give them a river. if they’re hungry, [REDACTED]. simple as that. *Smoking Karma:* if, for whatever reason on god’s green earth you want to absolutely tank your karma, do the opposite of what’s listed above. neglect the family members’ health and drive their sanities low. don’t feed them, and don’t give them a drop of water. not sure why you’d do this but, full send it i guess. hope this helps the next time you go for a WR run, genuinely rooting for you 🙏🙏
