TLDR: when it comes to flipping experience, there is a point of diminishing returns. When it is between a $200 balisong and an $800 balisong, no, it does not flip 4x better. However, you're paying for the machining, the artistry, and the design. And those are things that are entirely worth the money, if you like it enough.

See but to me I feel like it does flip better. Even jk himself when I was trading my Nami for a pdn he's like naw he wouldn't do it. Yeah a bali he machines he told me not to get over a Nami due to it just doing whatever you ask it to do. Imo the Nami is one of if not the best performance flipper overall. You can feel it just does anything and everything you ask it to do. The biggest issue with nami is thw variance. This is where things get weird pick up 10 Nami and 4 of them will be great and the other 5 will just be good. Somehow feel sound and of course tolerances all differ. That's what makes it tough and why so many peoples experiences and opinions vary so much on the Nami.

Hence why balisong clones are so prevalent. Just too damn expensive. I can get 90% of the knife with some clones (they’ve gotten really good). Might need a little fine tuning but if you’re just van looking to try a model and don’t feel like breaking the bank

@@reviewforthetube6485 flipping better, yes it could and probably does, but it won't flip and entire 4 times better than something like a kraken.

You make a really good point, the nami flipping experience is similar to the kraken. When I do upgrade from my squiddy, I'll probably go for a kraken, since I care more about the flipability (and the kraken looks sick).

  • @reviewforthetube6485

I agree with pretty much everything you said I love my tsunami. Also I prefer it without weights tbh lol. For me my kraken never felt like my tsunami with flipping. Imo the flipping experience is what sets it apart but it's all preference. The design of the handles help with ergonomics which imo impact flipping so yes design can impact flippability. I think it's size and it's balance also helps. I feel it's very good just like other grails that have certain things that do set them apart from more budget balis. I've always been able to feel the differences with them except for a select few of course. I mean think about it you said it's one of if not the most comfortable balis you have held well for a flipper wouldn't that be an advantage? See what I'm saying? I feel things like that do set it apart and make it better.

As collector point of view, this is such a great Bali, it definitively set itself apart from other squid industries product and other balis in the market. It is so smooth, so beautiful, well tuned, well balanced, well made. For me it is night and day from the Kraken, like they were from different makers, I regret not have picked one up sooner.

So what would you recommend for a beginner? That wants a very good high level flipping knife. But not able to pay the tsunami price.

    • @spyroclone152
      @spyroclone152 3 місяці тому +1

Depends on your budget and what you're willing to pay. Typically, the mid-high grade range will be between $100 - $400. This is where you'll typically find your top performers. Though they can go cheaper. If I had some "you can't do wrong" recommendations, they'd be the following:
      - Squid Industries Krake Raken Trainer V3 ($220)
      - Machinewise Prysma Pro ($180)
      - LDY Orion v1.5 trainer ($75)
      - Nabalis Vulp Pro ($140)
      - Nabalis Wing ($120)
      - Nabalis Canyon Trainer ($40)
There are obviously FAR more options than these I recommend. But I'll also say that availability will also factor in what you get. Some of these knives drop once a couple of months. Companies like Nabalis and Squid Industries typically always have stock.

That's not his fault its youtubes it takes up to 24 hours to go to the resolution it was shot in now. Unless you let it load in the back without uploading until the resolution is available which some people do. Regardless come back tomorrow the resolution will be better. Tbh it is already better at 720p it will go higher soon enough.

The biggest issue with the Nami is the variance they have. You can flip 5 of them and somehow each one can feel different? So some truely dont feel as good as others. It's weird!
