A few things are happening here that allow them to make carved turns. Watch this at the slowest speed. This all happens in a split second. 0:52 and 1:40 might illustrate it the best but they all show it. Watch him lift his cheek and slide it onto a Barstool to get a steep leg angle while keeping his upped body vertical. He isn't making his skis go side to side, they are going there because he is putting his upper body back in the fall line instead of following them. The opposite of what it Looks Like. The tips of his skis are turning Into the turn just like the front tires of your car. The unweighted tails just slide around to follow. 4:15 Watch how his upper body stays in the fall line for slalom turns. No lateral travel. He is just getting off his downhill foot as it passes under him. That makes his upper body fall down the hill and rolls that uphill ski over. 1. He is very comfortable balancing on one arch after the other. So practice traversing at various speeds and on various slopes. 2. His upper body follows his skis across the until he wants to start a new turn. 3. When he wants to start that new turn, he stops the travel of his upper body across the hill and puts it back in the fall line. Watch his skis pass him by. 4. He thinks of going straight down the hill with his entire upper body from his face down to his kneecaps. 5. He gets off his downhill arch to balance on his uphill arch. By falling down the hill, his uphill ski instantly rolls over onto the arch and that ski turns while he just balances on that arch.
Ok coach. I think you're all talk, bud. Put the money where the mouth is so to speak. Find me any day at Killington and we'll see if you walk the walk. I wear tan pants, black jacket, and blue boots. Race ya for a beer
Yeah, i just watched your "instructional" videos on your Channel and you don't have any idea what you are talking about, or at the very least you don't apply it properly.
@@ianholmquist8492 and yet you couldn't even attempt to tell me where and how I am wrong. I teach and what is it you do? Say, "You're wrong" like a six year old?
@@ianholmquist8492 It's "Talk the Talk or Walk The Talk!" Walk the Walk makes no sense. That's the difference between Reacting and Thinking. Just like "I could care less" and "I couldn't care less." Thinking about what you do and say makes all the difference. I won't race you for a beer at my age, but I Will out ski you for one. Do you live up there or just ski there a lot?
@@ianholmquist8492 P.S. I wear a yellow jacket with black pants or a grey and black jacket. I'll be the best skier on the mountain so you can look for that too. I'll let you know that next time I go up.
carving by groomers is not interesting. you try in france after lunch to ride on the hills with carving))), in my opinion, the coolest riding on video is a man at 0:16 with a narrow stance

My god, I really wish my ski week won't get canceled.
So can they go hard or carve anything somewhat steep or is that it? ..because nearly anyone can do that
The idea mate is that it's fun and satisfying to watch :)
le carving dans les bosses ,pour moi, nest pas du carving, c'est du ski dans des bosses. le carving, est un "style". Une façon de skier,"cooooool"
