Wow, that is a great video/movie. I was born in 1957 and in those days I could only dream of such a place as I was brought up in the Far West of NSW and a town of 1,000
I remember going to Foster Tuncurry for holidays in the 60s and 70s. My uncle and cushions went every year at Christmas for close to 50 years. It's a great place.
my mob camped there in the free camping area foster by the bridge in 58 freaking beautiful joint then..Not so good now..cant put my finger on it but it sucks a bit now..probably all the ol grannies huts and bowling greens
Wow this sent me down a rabbit hole of emotions. Despite living in NSW all my life I'd never even heard of Forster before. I decided to check it out on Google maps and street view. After exploring the main street I came to the end of the road but it looked familiar. I sat and looked for a while before I realized that I was looking at the very location that one of my baby photos was taken almost 25 years ago! I can't believe it of all the streets in all the country I could have looked down I found the location of this photo that is very dear to me. All thanks to this video for sparking my curiosity. Thank you so much.
I cant believe that the "tank" area the big rock you seen the kids jumping off of used to have that much sand there, or the water has risen cause theres half the amount of sand today thats out of the water Best place as a kid to do everything from jumping into the water to rock pool exploring there now
Wow how it looked when I was a baby its changed a bit now but the Lakes road is still much the same and those old kids entertainment parks up the other side of Tuncurry and 4 WD through Rainbow Flats love that FishNChip shop on the corner of the main drag
Thanks AussieTV. We are gradually working through the collection and re-transferring to HD formats. Quite a big job as you can imagine. Thanks for the feedback.
Named after the the 4th Premier of NSW: William Forster. Yeah, it's weird the pronounciation doesn't emphasize the "r", but I found this explanation why: "The Australian accent is non-rhotic, meaning we only pronounce the letter R when it's followed by a vowel, whereas in rhotic accents like Irish or American, it is pronounced whenever it appears".

If it's pronounced 'Foster' why do they spell it 'Forster'?
they must be city folks
