I teach CNC Machining 8 years and have 30 years CNC experience. I started as a hand G Code programmer in the 80s (paper tape) to being a rabid Fusion 360 CadCam user today. Understanding G code is very helpful - like post process mods - or quick updates at machine. In a medium size job shop you don't want to be running back into the workstation to change feeds & speeds etc. but I am so comfortable running straight out of Fusion code to making parts !
Great and informative video. In going thru how to establish Anycad functionality, it seems that a lot of info is outdated. Now it is not included in Preferences. You simply have to install the Connect app and establish a group.
The integration is great. using some of your sketch lines from modeling the part as containment tool boundaries speeds things up amazingly when you are working with lots of surface modeled shapes. Great way to prevent problems is to do all of your trim toolpaths at the very end of all of your work. even if your working from multiple work offsets and copying and pasting operations. Do not copy and past or duplicate operations with any sort of tool path modifier or you stand a very large chance of having the program crash. I love fusion but I do admit that when I see a new update and everything has been running smooth I do make sure I finish all the work for the day before restarting fusion. So many times a bad week can be caused by some update that causes a bug. Nothing better in the world then seeing the restart for update after a week like that.
I wish I could agree with you @MrCoffeyPaul. We speak to so many shops that are still programming entirely at the controller. Some are manually writing g-code. Some are using conversational programming. But, still lots of controller programming.
Fusion 360 crashing seems to have a lot 2 do with workflow. In the beginning i had some crashes cause i wasn't organised good enough. Put some more structure in my workflow and since i don't have any problems. Only limited by the speed of my pc.
Fusion 360 is a good product but it is not fast or stable. I have use it for a few years but I am looking at other products, not because of the product, but because of Autodesk management. You cannot trust them as they have, in the past changed their licensing and held there own customers work hostage. I will never use a online product ever again.
Ajax, I am sorry you had a bad experience. In my personal experience, Autodesk does right by its customers when it changes pricing, etc. Not sure what happened in your case, but it sounds out of the norm. Lastly, I'm not sure you are going to find off-line products for very long. The entire industry and entire world is moving to the cloud.
Jason your mic is just awful, and to add insult to injury it is placed where we are getting unwanted percussives. $50 gets you a very nice condenser with a stand. A decent lavalier is also cheap and invaluable. Don't forget to wear it on your collar. Sorry pal but for a webinar of this length it is sounding pretty "moist" for social distancing.

Great presentation. Are we going to see machine simulation any time soon?
Autodesk purchased CAMplete recently. I have the feeling you won’t be disappointed with that outcome

Does it do wire edm?
Good presentation Jason.
Thank you!
Just an aside Mr. Lichtman, anyone caught manually programming(unless a simple edit) would probably get fired from a shop!

@@easyriderj Odd when CAM is so much faster and less error prone?
@@MrCoffeypaul
Nope. It's usually these CAM guys that get fired.... cause they don't know machining.

Agree
good clear video but your mic is not very good. I would even go that far you should never use this headset again for webinars. all the best.
Going to use my Yeti mic from now on. Thank you

Switching to a yeti mic from now on. I appreciate the input and take it seriously.
