You're right and the reason for this is that some German soldiers did use what were called 'transitional helmets' during both 1930/40 and 1944/45. Transitional helmets were WW1 helmets from old stocks that were re-furbished with decals and liners and re-issued to soldiers in the field. The only error I can see is that the chinstrap arrangement is incorrect. This clip shows the original WW1 chinstrap arrangement with the chinstrap attached to the sides of the helmet whereas refurbished 'transitionals' had the chinstrap attached to the helmet's inner ring. This was because the original arrangement often caused the chinstrap to either break or be lost. This is why WW1 helmets with original chinstraps are so hard to find. Most are either found without chinstraps or with modern-day replacements. The reason transitionals were issued in the first place was because of shortages of the official M-35 helmet, namely the ones we normally see German soldiers wearing.
foreverblueclassics S Thanks for loading the clip. I knew, as youngster, there was a show that I enjoyed watching as well as I like watching Combat. I finally got smart enough to Google for 60s tv war shows and there it was. Hopefully things may work out for you to post full episodes. What you have done and your time to do it, is much appreciated. Thank you very much.
Thank you very much my friend, it is very much appreciated! It's not a bad show by any means. In fact it's very good. The only thing is you never really got into the characters the same way that you did with 'Combat', or even the later 'Garrison's Gorillas'. Saunders, Kirby, Little John. Caje, Hanley etc were almost like your pals. In this show it's not the same feel. But like I say, it's a good one none-the-less and since I uploaded this it's had a "proper" DVD release. Now, if only they'd do the same for another of my favourites 'Garrison's Gorillas'! Thank you once again for your kind comment!
@@foreverblueclassics You are quite welcome, but dang it, man, you've ruined me. I literally have terabytes of archived movies, tv shows, documentaries(from different places),. and music. If I lost internet and tv programming, I could go for years without watching the same thing twice. Now you got me eyeballing 'Garrison's Guerillas" and I haven't finish binge watching Night Court. lol, lol. I noticed the theme music has a familiarity to it. It sounds a little like music from the series, The Incredible Hulk. Have a great day and thanks for the referral.
@@vinyltapelover Oh, if you don't know 'Garrison's Gorillas' you're in for a treat! It was the replacement for 'Combat' (and was filmed in the same locations I believe) and it's kind of like a comedy version of 'The Dirty Dozen'. It's silly but lots of fun. I know what you mean. I find something new and it becomes an obsession lol. Have a great day also!
I've never seen it online Bill. Maybe once my 15 minute sanction is over I could upload the whole episode. The series is excellent, very similar to 'Combat'.
what you can't afford to give us the full movie or did you run out of time or was too much of the good life, that you had to repeat some of it in slow motion, whatever it was a waste of time and money as have an ad blocker
You again lol. Why don't you do what I did and actually BUY the DVD instead of being the big internet troll that you are. I can see where the name Pesky comes from, you're a pain in the proverbial neck.
The German speaks better English then expected! The wine at 6:40 wasn't that healthy for him. Must be from a bad year. A fine clip, with a surprise. For the Germans that is.
Thanks Gary! Unbeknownst to the German Sgt his officer can also speak good English, and he's been slagging him off all the way through! As usual the officer is the only one of his men to survive, allowing himself to be captured by the American. Glad you liked it :-)
The german soldier that threw the grenade is wearing the Frankenstein style ww1 Helmet with what looks like lugs on the side.

Danke, dieses Video ist einfach super!😘 🇩🇪👍
Danke!
John Dehner played the German officer.
He was a guest star on many 60s TV shows.
Yes, he's one of those faces you recognise but can never put a name to. He was in loads.

Not at the moment, sorry. I have a big backlog and it's difficult to find the time to upload everything.

foreverblueclassics How goes uploading it?
Bill Hiers Sadly, I'm on yet another sanction. Videos restricted to 15 minutes :-(

In the 60s I earned $16 to buy an old b/w TV, mostly to watch, "The Gallant Men".
I'm glad this brought back some memories mate. It was a series that only got one run, which is a shame as it's pretty good.
