👍I remember the old Airfix P-40 of the 60s, but I must have purchased mine a bit later than yours! Mine cost 2/6 ! Terrible inflation in the late 1960s! 😀The Airfix P-40 available in the 1960s was the P-40E Kittyhawk, only 34 pieces plus a stand. It was first released in 1964. The kit in the Mystery bundle is the Tomahawk IIB, from a mould first released in 2011 with 45 parts (some optional) some nice interior detail on the cockpit, excellent little kit. The Kittyhawk had a deeper radiator than the Tomahawk, coming up to just behind the propeller. The Kittyhawk had all its guns in the wings, whereas the Tomahawk also had two of them in the fuselage, firing through the propeller arc. Airfix kept releasing the old Kittyhawk P-40E kit through the years, the last time was in 2008.
Bought the £100.00 mystery box recently. Got the same set of kits you did. The whole box is good value for money. My favourite is the Mustang kit As the box art version is the same plane as the Revell 1/72 Mustang P-51D kit I bought back in the Sixties when I was about eleven or twelve. Would just like add for anyone who finds a £100.00 a bit of a stretch. The individual Mystery Box kits are worth a go especially if a 1/48 scale kit turns up in the box.

thank you for revealing this secret, despite fact that lately these bundles are meant only for local UK market. This bundle is clearly for beginners. My opinion is following. 1:48 kits are ok, but they are basic kits when compared to competition hence RRP is high, tomahawk and swordfish are good kits, smaller vampire is ok but RRP is high. If you are not after high pace building relax, aviod lotteries, bargains come and go, read well before buying :-) and get ready for black week :D

I just received the 1/48 mustang on a £10 box so i was well happy. Only drawback is its only my second ever build so it cost me a fortune in new paints as i barely have any 😂
I agree with you that the mystery bundles can still be a bit of a bargain ,especially if you are an Airfix Club member or you have accumulated some Hobby points. Since I decided to get back into model making earlier this year I have bought the £100.00 aircraft bundle, two tank bundles and a few of the £10.00 mystery kits. I accept what the others are saying and you could end up with kits you already have or don’t particularly want to built. In my case there has always been something I wanted to build and anything I haven’t wanted has gone on eBay and that way I can make back some of the money I have spent. Judging by other video reviews I have seen the tank bundle is not quite the bargain it used to be, but the £100 Aircraft bundle in my opinion is still worth a shot. The £10.00 individual mystery kit is also worth considering so far I have had the 1/72 Dehavilland Vampire T11,a couple of 1/72 Spitfire Vb gift sets and the Swordfish kit.The Mustang P-51D, the Vampire F3 and the Spitfire Mk XVIII in 1/48 scale. The 1/48 kits are a real bargain given what they usually sell for. Also Airfix seem to change the £10.00 mystery kit fairly regularly.
Great video. Two questions, mostly about the Catalog. (1) Are Humbrol enamel paints still being made? (2) If so, where can I obtain them in the U.S.? Thanks!
I love the deal but not the random kit part, some folks might even get 2 kits then a bunch of supplies and tools they already have or worse loads of that nasty Humbrol paint. I will still order one just for the giggle but I know my luck so Hopes are not high ;)
No argument that the mystery boxes are good value for money, I just wish they'd do them in one scale per box. I'm only interested in 1/72nd, so if I bought this I'd have all the faff of reselling the 1/48th ones that I don't want.
Not a member of the club as it only benfits people in the uk (im on ireland) but if i was i still wouldn't have bought it.....i dont build 1/48 so that 1/48 vampire and p-51 would not be for me and of all the others the only 2 that would be of intrest to me are the Vampire T11 and p-40,both of which i already have
@@Damien-u2x I find it very odd that the club doesn’t extend to you guys.. however I get your point.. I think for me after only a year at it.. the models I get are all potential builds.. not so for the seasoned modeller. Thanks for watching my friend 👍👍
@lowrentrick it does but its not worth it.the magazine is only available as a downlaodable pdf and even with the club discount after i change euros for pounds,then add on postage and THEN a customs fee as the uk is not partvof the eu it would be cheaper to buy the kit over the counter in a shop here
@lowrentrick ti be honest i dont really buy Airfix kits that much as 90% of their line up is ww2 which doesnt intrest me....sure i have a few ww2 subjects but my aviation intrests are jets and helicopters.....both of which Airfix are very poor on compared to the jet and heli subjects they used to do......and their entire 1/72 (1/76) armour range is 100% ww2....absloutley ZERO cold war or modern subjects.
I bought the Tomahawk for 2 shillings in the 1960's, I used to get half a crown pocket money a week, 6 pence for a tube of airfix glue.

Perfectly fine, selective collecting is good, expensive but good. That's always my fear with Mystery kits.
