Yes 2.86 or 2.86b will work ok, however the upgrade itself will not resolve the problem. The SD card has a limited number of write cycles, whilst the radio rewrites a certain part of config files with every boot and with time the memory cells become corrupted and then the data cannot be read and therefore the radio exhibits a multitude of symptoms - reseting itself, freezing up etc. p.s. if it is still somewhat working it's a good idea to try using mirascript to download the original configuration onto a pendrive - so that you will be able to upload it back after you replace the SD card and do a clean firmware reinstallation. The problem is that the source files you will find online will in 99% of the cases NOT match your exact car configuration. My Citroen for example started up with a Peugeot logo after the reinstallation and in generall all the buttons on the radio, stearing wheel etc. had mixed up functions. It took a very long time to find a source of config file which would at least remotelly match my configuration and all in all my radio now works OK with all the buttons matching, the only problem is that it can also display extra screens dedicated to the hybrid version (i.e. screens showing how the battery is charging :) ) Also on the reverse camera image the guiding lines are different from what I originally had.
I'm afraid there is no such thing :( Holding the CD eject button for longer just restarts the radio. Whilst "factory reset" could be achieved by reinstalling the firmware from a pendrive. HOWEVER ... whilst the firmware is generally available for download, you then need to load the appropriate configuration files for your particular custom configuration - radio/amplifier combination, steering wheel button layout etc. etc. here you need some "magician" to do this (even the ASO authorize service might have trouble doing this)
Ps. Why do you want to reset it? If it’s acting erratic it might be that the SD card is slowly dying and therefore a replacement and firmware installation is anyways up ahead for you
