  • Electronic conspicuity as it affects general aviation pilots in Europe.
    Electronic conspicuity, or EC, refers to the use of electronic devices that broadcast and/or receive an aircraft's position, altitude, and other flight data. These devices help you be seen by ATC and other airspace users and see them in return.
    It’s used to avoid mid-air collisions and loss of separation and to enhance situational awareness. Transmitting electronic conspicuity can be mandatory or strongly recommended in different airspace and in different countries.
    This video tries to help you decide what is the most suitable technology and equipment for you to use and how to best use it.

    An excellent precis of a very wide ranging subject. The video provides a professional objective presentation that is the result of a significant amout of research. Highly recommended viewing for pilots operating in IMC and VMC. Well done Timothy.

    Fantastic summary and oh my god what a jumbled mess we've got ourselves into.
    I think the French DGAC have mandated FLARM in the Alps more than ten years ago?

    why is Tcas not valid for private pilots if using Mode C

      @@peterworsley I am not sure I understand what you mean by not valid? An aircraft fitted with a Mode C transponder will be detected by an aircraft fitted with TCAS.
