Whale Sharks are gentle giants, friendly and docile despite their huge size!
Less than a decade ago, the local population of whale sharks in the Philippines had been all but wiped out to satisfy demand for shark fins in China.
Though legally protected, poaching had continued when shark fin traders enticed poor local fishermen to earn money from exploiting these vulnerable animals.
Now finally, local communities have found a way to earn a living from whale shark tourism.
Rather than targeting and killing them, the locals are now passionate about protecting them.

The food they feed is the shrimp that the whale sharks naturally eat from the same area, it doesnt affect their breeding, feeding or migration patterns. The boats they use are paddle canoes and dont damage the whale sharks. In other areas they are killing the whale sharks so low level eco-tourism option is a great alternative.

Try watching more closely, mister blind person. The changes in shadows on her body coincide perfectly with the movements of the shark's body, fins, and tail.

Thats not a dangerous type of shark it's a gentle sea giant people can swim with it
They were visually close but she was quite a bit further from the camera and shark was higher up.

I really want to see a real life whale shark in person like I want to swim the big ocean on my own without nobody with me so I dont want to see someone swimming away from like go around the ocean and see the great white shark they are not so cool to be around with them that why i want swim alone.

She holds her breath for 90 seconds at a time and i think either the crew thats with her gives her gulps of air or she goes to the surface
Some real life mermaids can hold breath for a minute or two then come up. Takes ALOT of training though

i started swimming when i was 4 and can stay underwater for a long while, when you spend a lot of time doing it your lungs get used to not having air in them for some minutes!

They're actually whale sharks. She probably wouldn't be swimming with REAL tiger sharks.

I read about this in a scuba magazine. The locals offer the whale sharks handfulls of shrimp from their catch. It's consistent enough to offer tourists guaranteed swimming with these amazing animals. It brings them some income and shows off the beauty of these animals. The island is in the Philippines I think. If you go there you too can swim (like a mermaid) with the fishes....
What makes you think that?! Just because someone has the awesomeness to do something like that? Have you ever heard of diving?! Many people do it...its a popular thing. So, she just has an extension. And she is doing something called "free diving"...heard of it? Like Hannah said, check your facts, sheesh...
How do you train yourself to do that? I can swim, but how do you hold your breath like that? And the saltwater with your eyes? and the depth, how do you train yourself to dive seep? It's so beautiful, I've been inspired to follow my dream and swim and protect the oceans.

Am I the only one that's a bit concerned for those in the tiny boat? The shark seems like he wants lovin's, and the boat doesn't seem to be able to handle much more of his or her attention.
