I thoroughly enjoyed listening to that. Thank you for sharing. The violin solo, the oboe solo, the crazy torn feeling throughout. This era of music is some of the best.
I absolutely love this, I had never heard of this composer! As others have pointed out there's a resemblance to Stravinsky, but mixed with a very "french" style. The able use of orchestral colors and general tone painting contribute to this feeling. Add to this the tasteful harmonic choices and primitive-like melodies that transport you to a mystical dimension, just as the composer intended. Overall a 10/10 work in my opinion. Thank you for the video.
Interesting work, the 4th danse is very Stravinsky, 'y compris le titre' (but so is Varèse, also 'Jeune France' if I'm not mistaken). Excellent orchestration, I like to see the orchestral score one day. Thank you for sharing.

I love this piece, I first heard it on the radio about 50 years ago, thanks for posting, especially with the score.
Jolivet writes with a lot of power. An excellent work that doesn't deserve to be so nearly unknown.

Outstanding.....BRAVI from Acapulco!
Très jolie... Jolivet successfully entered the clan of 20. century modern music by his sophistication on the primitive...
What an atmospheric and disturbing (in a good sense) piece. It was clearly influenced by the ‘Rite of Spring’.
