For over two decades I have managed and seen the ups and downs of Small and Medium range UAS and by far this new Stalker VXE is the a concept I hope military aviation take in the new evolution of unmanned systems.Solves many logistical challenges documented across UAS enterprise speaking from multi-logistican and maintenance manager in aviation. Great job and I hope this can be adopted in to the military as program of record.

i feel like this is going to be something we're gonna see in domestic use. sure, some may make it to units overseas, but this would be much more at home in the hands of the FBI or police forces. the RQ-11 raven and even larger more expendable things like RQ-1s and MQ-9s are probably going to remain the dominant drone types overseas.

Mach 6 at 80,000 feet, ISR and strike capable (although we would need to design new cameras and weapons to operate at those speeds and altitudes) But it's competing against UAV, such as the RQ-180 which according to wikipedia fills a similar role and was in development in 2008, in production 2013, and someone got the first picture of it in 2020.

I remember thinking about making a little model airplane in my teens that would incorporate the benefits of quadcopters and conventional fixed-wings but the propellers would always be the issue... amazing what has happened in development for airplanes of this size in so little time... I stuck to parkjets instead. 😄

Wikipedia and Google aren't good enough to get me specifics.
So long as it's not price prohibitive, this would be excellent for Land Search and Rescue or wildfire intel. With the right optics the ability to search for missing persons in bushland would be a game changer and possibly a life saver.
It's that specific facility that made it? cause skunk works isn't the name of the company but the specific building in Palmdale, and if that's the case I might see one flying around soon

Those drones are really not that technologically advanced, the thing is that they are using very advanced communication and camera systems which I don't think you will need in civil use. You can buy something like that without those cameras and communication things, of course, for like max 5k dollars. It will fly like +4 hours, you will have a range something like 50+km but as i said forget about that termal camera laser designator etc. that's the reason why those drones cost so much, they literraly make a plane to get those cameras in the air. But as i said, it's really not that expensive for civillian usage.

But seriously, every child abduction, break-in, potential drowning, etc. could be monitored with AI and drone enforcement and rescue dispatched immediately. Should I cheer or cry?
