everything you said is exactly the reason I stopped drinking! i feel great and I experience beauty all day long. I lay on the grass when I get home from work all I want to do is enjoy and be grateful for every little thing. I experimented with drinking again and I soon found that I was whining about people and life events so I quit again, and my thoughts have turned back to clear and happy! thank you for reinforcing that for me, it's awesome to hear someone else say it!

I’m going to start today! My Valentines gift to myself is to stop drinking. I feel alcohol has ruined relationships, makes me angry, makes me sad, tired, not motivated, lazy, puffy skin, dry skin, the wrong type of friends, wrong places I’m hanging out at, and not being my hundred percent best that I can be. So no drinking for 30 days and hopefully forever!

@@joeysbestfriend2614 It’s going well. At first it was hard because I had to get to know myself all over again. Plus my boyfriend and our friends enjoyed having drinks while we hung out or went out. I felt a little left out or in a way kinda bored. lol I finally got to know myself again and started just being silly, funny, sweet, and happy. I also lost weight from my belly and started feeling attractive too. My eyes weren’t so puffy, my face thinned up, and I don’t feel bloated anymore. I also don’t remember the last time I’ve had an anxiety attack. I had to find places and things to do that don’t involve drinking, like the park, hiking, painting, church, reading, museums, and going karaoke. I don’t feel like I’m so emotional either. When I use to drink, I felt like I negative thoughts and negative conversations. I would call friends or family to talk about something negative that happened in my day. Now, I have more positive thoughts and words and don’t really call people as much either. If I have a negative thought or words, I just go into my closet and pray and come out with clarity and joy. I feel like I’m more of a pleasure to be around, and have a good energy too. I’m not lazy, or sleep too much. I’m scratching off my goals list, and have a different mind set. I still have friends that invite me out for drinks and it feels nice to finally say “No” I’ve always been a “yes” person. A people pleaser. Now I’m a “me” pleaser! I give everything to God and he has definitely got me through this process. I’m just excited for what’s to come in my life now! No more hangovers but more blessing!!!

@@myleentrevino hang in there, I always told myself today is the day to stop but I always go back to my old binge drinking habits. Going hungover to work you say, “ This isn’t worth it” only to be drinking 2 days later and AGAIN going to work hungover( So hungover that I skip lunch 🥙 because I can’t eat anything)
I think the best thing is to cut down on drinking little by little, try moderation. Tell yourself 2-3 drinks and that’s it. It’s HARD I know but eventually things can work out with help.
      Have a nice day.

I am a DJ and have had the best/most enjoyable/funniest nights while I was sober.
you don't need to be an alcoholic to have a drink problem x

Day 4 here. I'm 39 with a pretty similar drinking habit he had. Couple drinks at night to unwind then over do it on the weekend. Always tired and only getting worse as I get older. I know drinking is the one habit that keeps from from getting the body I want. I'm very consistent with working out and eat fairly well, but the alcohol negates a lot of that.

Day 17. The anxiety attacks are getting less and less, daily. I had to replace the alcohol with working out, prayer and meditation. I am thinking this will be longer then thirty days... If you are reading this; I wish you well. And, when your mind is wanting to run off. Remember. Your anxiety is not real and does... not... exist...

Try eating food while you are drinking - this cuts down the amount you drink.
      Take a break from drinking.
Keep track of how much you drink, then you know if you are cutting down.
Set goals - don't make them too hard at first.

I'm 15 days in, and I've never felt better. Social situations are easy. I just say I'm not drinking for 30 days. People basically get that. It's a temporary cleanse. Unfortunately...I feel so great, I kind of just don't want to go back, and I'm not sure what I'm going to say when the 30 days are up.

Alcohol is so normalized, even though we know it’s a poison for us. You are so right! The reward is not drinking! It’s an amazing gift! There’s no reason to feel crappy, especially the next morning! It’s also strange how annoying people get when they’re drinking and you’re not. It gets difficult to have a normal conversation. It definitely helps reinforce your decision to not drink.

I think I have a problem. I don't do anything bad. What I do is I drink at home but I can't stop after the planned to drinks and I go all night until I pass out. Needless to say. I'm not happy about it. So I'm going to try to stop for 30 days to see how I feel.
    I'll keep you posted.

  • @tamsinthai
    @tamsinthai 8 років тому +13

I believe a very big part of the problem is the lack of alternatives to alcohol in bars and pubs. Who wants to keep drinking Coke or Soda all evening? There ARE fantastic coolers and non alcoholic cocktails, that's all I drank on a visit to a bar in Pai in Northern Thailand. Another good thing with these types of drinks is that no one notices if you're drinking actual alcohol or not and so you don't get the 'come on, have a PROPER drink', you can simply watch them get more and more sloppy :D I lay the blame squarely on the multi billion pound/dollar alcohol industry, but hardly anyone mentions this in the same way we hear about Big Pharma or Tobacco companies.
BTW There's a book called 'How to stop drinking' by Alan Carr. Worked for me with cigarettes many years ago.

    • @CruzzioXT

What if u fell 4 stories trying to save a co-worker.. broke ur arm off. Fractured ur spine. Then were completely screwed by workman comp to the point of losing everything. At that point 6 months later, after being ignored by doctors. I finally got approved for it. And THEN the doctors gave a fuck bc they were being paid now.. Turns out they never cleaned out the hydralic oil outta my bone (that's what caused the fall) huge bone infection. Now missing half my arm. At this point finally get a small chunk of my back pay. Enough to get the house back. Wheels back.. then have to have 9 more surgeries.. they ghost me on my pay for almost 2 months, start losing my stuff again.. so now I drink, and have crazy anxiety. When i once was the most confident man I knew. Could do anything. The other day I learn the guy who i was trying to save (obiously he's still alive) has been on a 3 week crack binge apparently. So thank God i destroyed my life right? Lmao. Idk I'm trying.. but to go from having everything I could ever want to losing it. All for a stupid situation that I pre-called.. and for some reason still tried to save em. Pretty depressed haha

No let's be honest I have ECD (do not feel bad if you don't know what it is I was explaining explaining it to doctors IF you want to know more go to ECD Global Alliance) Don't worry about what you learn if you go there. Now I take a very toxic drug to prolong my life and due to this I can not drink alcohol. I also cannot get sun due to the med being a skin cancer med. making me look like a cooked lobster - heat will do it too! Sorry I lost the question I was going to ask - beer and wine can be bought/made without alcohol what is your opinion about them?

Spoiler Alert - great video, cool guys and good advice - but after 28 mins this guy really wants you to buy his sunglasses! (he really does) I'm an overweight guy who drinks far too much alcohol, and has vision impairment. I don't want to wear prescription sunglasses 2 hours before my bedtime. But cool video - thanks for uploading!

I mean why do we need government to enforce policy on health. Why don't you go to the school board and pitch at a local level.

Thanks, these are some good reminders, there’s no question that increasing your mental clarity and boosting your drive, comes with quitting. Yes, there are many ways to kick the habit, Steffon Barkload's Quit Drinking Forever is what worked for me, best shortcut I go’ogled that took days without withdrawal.

Personally I believe that Alcohol addiction starts from mental status... I think there should be other options other than AA as when I attended a session I soon saw that they refer to god and I don't believe the bible will help me also I question religion so AA didn't work for me... I feel that your mental journey through life to date needs to be explored with the company of someone able n qualified coupled with exploring alcohol introduction into your life. Once this has been covered then game plan should then be structured and tailored to you...

rachael millar the 'god' in AA is NOT the God of the Bible------------the REAL Jesus CAN deliver you from the demon causing the addiction and heal the emotional pain in your heart also ----------------and fill that empty hole in your soul -----------read the Gospel of John and be saved from a pointless lost existence and an eternity in a VERY REAL HELL!!!!!!!!!!
