    There's something wrong in this video, Stress triaxiality factor must be one third at the Uni-Axial tension test.

    informative video: please make a video on how to calculate damage ductile material parameters from a stress strain curve ( i-e fracture strain, stress triaxiality , strain rate and damage evolution parameters i-e displacement at failure)

  • @hassannazari1783

    very informative! I have just one question: The damage initiation value (0.15) is not too high compared to the maximum plastic strain (0.0585) and damage evolution displacement (0.117)? that should not be a value near to the maximum plastic strain (0.0585) ?

    Can I use this method to define damage evolution parameters in damage for traction-separation laws?
    actually i'm doing xfem and i have to use traction-separation laws but there is no guide videos.,,,

    • @arsitech-ltd
      @arsitech-ltd  2 роки тому +1

      Dear,
      Traction separation law is useful when, the interface adhesive layer has a finite thickness and macroscopic properties (such as stiffness and strength) of the adhesive material are available.
      It allows specification of material data such as the fracture energy as a function of the ratio of normal to shear deformation.
      Also it allows multiple damage mechanisms.
      In short yes it is possible.

      Ideally for biaxial test it should be 1/3. But unfortunately i forgot to put value during video recording.

    how to do calibration and what is characteristic length *2

    • @arsitech-ltd
      @arsitech-ltd  2 роки тому

      Dear,
      Material calibration means simply find the true stress strain curve from engineering SS curve and finally extract E, yield stress, ultimate strength, and plastic strain strain data to feed in Abaqus material definition.
      Abaqus provide this all using material calibration option.
      Characteristics length*2 = value equal to twice the characteristic length.

    Is defining density required for a static analysis?

    • @arsitech-ltd
      @arsitech-ltd  2 роки тому

      Dear,
      For general static step it is not required but for quasi-static step (as well for dynamic) it is required.
      Apart from linear dynamic, frequency analysis, buckling analysis it need to define density.
      I suggest to use density parameter always...it makes you habitual of using this parameter.

    This confuses me a bit, from the Abaqus manual it says that fracture strain is the plastic strain at damage initiation so it should refer to the strain at the ultimate tensile strength.
