    One idea: why not run a bead of caulking below the bottom track as glue so you won’t kick it out when you step out of the shower? I think that would work as a sealant also!

    • @firesideweekenders
      @firesideweekenders  2 роки тому +1

      Surprisingly enough we haven't kicked it this whole season. I did start to consider putting some caulk down there because we do get a little bit of water. If we are not too level, it drips out.

      This is the exact method I chose to use in my installation. I had to caulk some other areas of my shower, so the extra was perfect to reinforce the shower door and insure I don't get any leaks.

    In a shower, the door to the shower NEEDS to be smaller in height then the actual opening so there is room for the steam from having a shower to escape. The door should never be the same full size as the opening to the shower. And yes you do have I noticed in this situation a fan in the shower but, what if it's too cold/blizzard out or just down pouring with rain, you probably don't want the fan door opened as weather permitting, what do you do then? When you close off all access to the shower while you're in a hot shower with steam not having a place to escape quickly you're definitely going to have a terrible time trying to breath! In this instance a good sized gap of 3" or more from the ceiling is what you would need for steam to be released.

      @firesideweekenders  8 місяців тому

      We have a gap in our shower door. We also have the covers on our vents so rain getting in is not an issue.

    If you caulk both the inside and outside of the bottom track, where does the water from the "curtain" go when it gets squeegeed?

    • @firesideweekenders
      @firesideweekenders  Рік тому

      Inside the tub still. The way it’s designed allows it to still make it in.

      With this system you don’t need to drill into a stud. I will try to get the measurements later today when we pack up the camper.

    I'm thinking of putting the housing for the rolled up door on the side furthest from the shower head with the latch to close the door closest to the shower head. My thinking is, the part closest to the showerhead will be effected by more water so have that portion be the last to roll into the housing and be shed off the door. Thoughts, experiences with this would be appreciated.

    • @firesideweekenders
      @firesideweekenders  2 роки тому

      I took a shower in it right after seeing this. I didn't see much water build up on that side closest to the shower head. It was actually the opposite. Either way, I think this door system does a great job squeegeeing the water out. We haven't seen any signs of mold build up.

    Was literally going to order this for our 178 this weekend. Nice work. Had contemplated leaving the shower rod up for hanging options when the shower was not in use so was going to do 36" by 65". Did you guys do 67"? Also never thought about the clips for the surround making it an uneven surface, nice catch. You guys going to drill some holes right on the inside and pop them back in?

    • @firesideweekenders
      @firesideweekenders  3 роки тому

      Thanks. We got the 68x36 right from the Stoett website. We were going to drill some holes but after installing it, I don’t think we need to. The top and bottom rails keep it pushed up on the wall. We will probably put in one or two that we can fit and the rest we will caulk.

      @@firesideweekenders I saw a few other people putting in a small screw from the inside of the upper and lower cross bracket to stop the clips from popping off. Let me know what you decided to do. I also just got done with a Power Jack install, as well as converted over to dual propanes in the front a a Jack-It bike rack. Happy to share if you guys are tackling any of those projects but its all pretty straight forward. Keep up those projects!!

      @@cdub140 We just ordered the tongue jack. Can’t wait to install it. I thought about the dual propane but I am going to see how much we use first and how much we weigh before doing that. I did see the screw fix, I wanted to look into it a little more. I did notice after recording that on one of them I didn’t have it fully clipped. It looked like it was but I had to reseat it. Only time will tell.
