Who is your favorite robot besides Atom??
Obviously zeus bro come on now. Also Midas was really cool.
"Johnny five" from "Short Circuit" (1986).
"Data" from Star Trek. He's an android, not a robot, but I love him.
Mecha godzilla
STEM from Upgrade.
When you think about it, each robot Charlie has represents his situation,
Ambush being rusty, in need of a polish, shows him being a bit of an old fighter who is getting beaten down by chance.
Noisy Boy is him trying to reclaim the glory of the old days, but unfamiliar to the new ways of the ring
And Atom shows him passing off the reins to a new start, starting from the bottom and making their way to the top as the underdog.
Yeah, you summed it up pretty good. And I loved watching his journey, his boy was awesome too.
That’s actually genius. It’s so subtle that it subconsciously enhances the robots’ personalities.
Very insightful analysis
I never thought of it like that. That's honestly a great way to represent a character.
BRO!!! YOU SOUND LIKE ERIK VOSS OF NEW ROCKSTARS! GOOD SUMMARY.
Also now it's 2024 and the director of Real Steel Shawn Levy had thought of making a sequel since this movie is still holding up to this day.
The funniest part of this movie is the fact that the Zeus-Atom fight literally mirrors the first Apollo Creed-Rocky Balboa fight, down to the "won the decision but lost the fight" ending.
Thank you! I came here to make that same comment.
I think the part where Zues gets tired out mirrors the Drago fight too
@@idkjordash "😏Anything Zeus hits, he destroys-"
*🤨Ahem*
"😨😅Uh, I mean, anything Zeus *sees,* he *kills.* "
The thing I noticed about Zeus is that he is designed so that all his power goes into his strength so he can end fights quickly, but it drains his power cells quickly. So, if something can last longer than one round, it's already a threat.
Atom is the perfect antithesis to Zeus, because he is designed TO TAKE HITS, meaning he is designed to last longer than other bots.
Thats true but they also made it very obvious how downright terrible the bots that Zeus faced were from him just standing there and 1 punch man everything in hes way. I get that the whole thing was to show that human boxing can still beat the machine in the end but Atom is a Gen 2 robot. Your telling me Zeus dosent have any current gen sparring bots he fights that would be able to take hits just like Atom or even more. Designing a bot that dosent have enough power to last for the entire fight is like entering a race event when u know the fuel tank cant hold enough fuel. It was just a really dumb plot hole that honestly dident even need to be there and the movie itself even ignored it. Your running low on power and u switch to Turbo, i dont think so. Right away after Tak toke personal control of Zeus that power issue suddenly wasent there anymore and he was faster then ever. I like the movie but there are some major plot holes in this and the biggest is definatly Zeus size. Zeus is easily 2-3 times bigger and stronger then anything we se him fight, there are power and weight classes for a reson in sports and robot fighting appears to be the main sport in the world this is set in.
@@Shiftry87 Bro you speak to much
@@SandroSilva-mv3jj Maybe so but if u spend just 15min reading and debating things like super hero powers u quickly learn that if u just respond with a 20 word reson for why something dosent work like that or simular issue u quickly understand why a VERY detailed responds is needed or ppl just come up with any random 1 in a billion chans or the most absurd plot armor ever shown so they just can say i´m not wrong when infact they cant argue against the points your making.
@@Shiftry87 Chill, it's a movie about robots fighting each other. You're fighting the wrong battle.
What I'd rather debate about is the various inaccuarcies in movies that are about History/Historical Events. Not with you, though. You're too chatty.
@@Shiftry87The worst part is that the robots Zeus killed were very strong in the mobile game. Someone was definitely paying those people to lose on purpose.
Nail on the head, this film just goes the extra mile and takes it from a dumb fun movie to an great fun movie
Yeah!! It is legendary!!
@@whitenoisereacts also shout-out to the kid, did a GREAT job as a young actor
Dakota Goyo
@@whitenoisereactscan you like shut up when the movie is playing like it's not that hard god damn 💀💀
@@RealManEditzIt's called a reaction for a reason. So how about you take your own advice and shut up. If you don't like it, don't watch it.
Based on the story story STEEL, by Richard Matheson, where the story was turned into an episode of The Twilight Zone in 1963 as a boxing promoter and his business partner try to turn their robot boxer into a new champion in 1974.
I was hoping someone else knew that.
Real Steal is one of my all time favourite movies, ever. It was passed over as just another mushy family movie at the time. The Harry Potter films were wrapping up, the Marvel franchise movies were gaining steam. Unless you were a Hugh Jackman fan, it barely came up on so many peoples radar but it actually is so heartwarming and broke so many tiny little stereotypes. Max calls Charlie 'Dad' in the end with no fanfare no close up on the moment to emphasize it, it just happens and as the audience you just accept it because it was earned but we didn't feel like the film beat us over the head to show us 'see, see, he earned it'. The visuals are beautiful, the actors brought their A-Game, and the directing and set design was futuristic but not unbelievably so. It still felt warm and natural like it could exist in our world, like we regular people would be screaming at our TVs watching that fight too. It's so good and I'm not even a fan of boxing movies and it's up there in my top ten.
Huh so that's how Falcon gets paid. My man's doing illegal robot fighting I bet he wished he had Ultron lol.
LMAO!!
WOW I FORGOT THIS MOVIE EXISTED, I rented the DVD back in the day. I really had so much fun watching it - it's the only thing I remember.
The video game wasn't too bad.
That was also my first experience with it. And man did I love it.
Real Steel was also adapted into an episode of the classic Twilight Zone series hosted by Rod Sterling. After human boxing is deemed illegal Robots fight in the ring with Steel as the favorite. It is revealed that Steel isn't actually a Robot but rather a Human boxer inside a Robot suit.
3:06 these girls are the directors kids. 42:03 thing about this scene is they left him in shadow mode so he was basically shadowing himself. It would be interesting to see what his processing was doing while he was looking at the mirror. The one thing I really like about this movie is how Hugh Jackman’s character grows during the movie. How at the end he finds his love of life again. One other thing by the end of the movie it looks like Adam is a real person. The way he listens to Max & Charlie. Especially when Max tells him to get up and Adam responds even though he doesn’t have the microphone. 1:04:43 this is like the ending of Rocky Balboa.
I really enjoy that the movie left the "sentience" of Atom up to interpretation. Did Max as a kid see something just through his imagination? In his need for a role model or friend? How much Atom shadows a person to repeat moves versus actually interpreting what he's seeing. It's all up to what you think. It doesn't go to the path of "kid discovers magical secret" but still had enough scenes, like the mirror scene, to have that question sitting in the back of your mind.
@@BaileyL018Apparently a proposed sequel was supposed to dive way deeper into the question of Atom's potential sentience. I, for one, would definitely have enjoyed a movie that did so along with maintaining the good characters and awesome fights.
@@BaileyL018 Having rewatched it recently I still wonder about Atom and his past, his hidden humanity? AI or something else? It's sure that it has something special and indeed it's nice to leave the viewer a little to their own interpretation.
Thank you guys so much for doing this movie! This is definitely one of my favorite feel good movies and it is severely underrated. I always get teary eyed at the end when you see Charlie getting to box again and do what he loves. I also love the relationship between him and Max it’s so sweet!
17:56 I was wondering the same thing about Noisy Boy. The reason Charlie got him for a good price is because he was defective in some way, with “things he could live with”, but we never saw anything wrong with him. That robot was perfect until Charlie put him in the ring with Midas.
I think he was weak in the core, in the fight he starts getting destroyed after Midas hits him in the core.
Maybe because noisy boy won't adjust to actually hit the enemy with his moves just do what the program says
I am blown away that my favourite reaction channel is watching the movie I never see anyone react to. Screw sleep, it’s 3:46am and I’m watching this
oH YEAH!!! Cheers!!
I always tear up when Max is watching Charlie fight at the end. Even though Charlie didn’t want to be a dad…that’s all Max ever wanted. He was truly his hero.
Damn I never realized all the parallels between Charlie and Atom. And how Max was projecting his want to have a dad onto Atom, and at the end he finally gets that shown by being picked up, similar to how he made Atom hold him earlier. Following up with the "your secrets safe" line. Also when they pointed out Max saying "I want you to fight for me" and in the end fight it was literal, he fought in place of Max, for him. I liked the movie already but it was way deeper than I first realized with all the little details. I thought the father/son story was sorta mediocre and wedged in to try to be heartfelt but it actually is done well. I was a kid when I first saw this movie too granted.
35:48 A small detail, but it made me smile when Charlie yelled “You did it” to Max when he beat Metro. Didn’t try to take credit, he was just happy for him
One of my all time favorite movies and no matter how many times I watch it I'm so invested in the fight scenes and story it's honestly crazy how I never get tired of copying the last fight between Zues and Atom.
OMG I've been wating for you guys to react to this movie for soo long. I love how you guys react to movies and series.
im so glad i found this channel, i remember watching Real Steel when i was younger and rewatching it with yall was an amazing nostalgic experience.
When I went to see this movie in the cinema my friend and I were legit on our fight screaming at the screen for that entire last fight 😂
As a Battlebots fan, the concept of Real Steel seemed great from when I first heard about it. Realistically, I doubt humanoid robots will ever be as effective as what Battlebots currently has (2 or 4 wheel drive), but I can definitely see some teams trying it out once the technology gets there
I am also a huge Battlebots fan. And the is an interview with one of the main creators and producers of the show and he talks about how tv people where thinking that battle bots would be humanoid bots. But he as like yeah no that's not how it works. The interview has so much insight ua-cam.com/video/bbHV28a0l1I/v-deo.html
I remember getting the toys of these guys when the movie came. I had Noisy Boi, Twin Cities, and Atom. It was fun remaking atom v twins and making new fights between them. This movie amazed me so long ago, and still is amazing to watch over and over
this is on my personal goat movie list. Never seen a youtube reaction to this until today
There are certainly more. You've clearly never tried looking it up. You should try that more often with movies you like. You'll find there to be plenty of reactions to plenty of film you enjoy.
I was so surprised by how much I enjoyed this movie the first time I watched it, so glad to see the four of you watching it together
You guys just don’t understand how happy I am that you reacted to this this is literally one of my all time favorite movies like I love it so much I cry everytime Hugh Hackman is so good even when he was to be a “bad guy” who redeemed himself with his son and yes at the end he calls him dad instead of Charlie that little difference in the names makes me cry A lot too
this movie made me so hyped as a kid, its so good and the final battle with the kid looking how his father is fighting and having fun, it tear me up.
such a good fiction movie
This movie's appeal is all about it being a character piece. Charlie's character, down on his luck, desperate for the money and trying to get back to the big leagues, thanking that's what is most important in his life. Max's character, searching for a connection with someone, because his aunt who claims she wants custody, is ok with going away for a month and leaving this kid who just lost his mom with the dad he has never known. The robot fights are just the spectacle, the vehicle to getting these two characters to open up to one another, find a way to bond, to connect, to be a family. What makes you so emotional about the fight is that you know how much that last fight means to both of them. It's Max proving to Charlie that he believes in him, something no one has done in a long time. And it's Charlie proving to Max what lengths he will go to fight for his kid, to do the thing that will make him happy, prove to him that his dad DOES care about him. Charlie didn't think he was worthy to be a dad to his kid because he split when Max was still little, but now he knows it isn't too late.
I loved this movie and it's criminal it wasn't a blockbuster hit.
Second favorite sports movie of all time.
This movie has a lot of heart between the father and son
You know it's a good movie when the end credits roll up and the audience are just sitting in their seats smiling
YEEEEES! I LOVE THIS MOVIE SO MUCH! 😭💕 This is one of the movies where you need to see the behind the scenes. How they did the things for that time and the passion they had for this wonderful movie! ❤️
Loved this reaction! And the investment everyone took in it. The character arcs were my favorite part of this movie. Charlie learned to be a better person. Max learned to love his dad. Aunt Debra learned to adapt and be supportive. Even the bad guy/bookie ended up on the wrong side of the bet. This is just a wholesome movie!
...oh and btw, Marvel/mcu reunion for sure, that 'texan' at the bull show at the beginning was in Wolverine origins as the Blob 😂
wolverine
Wasp
Falcon
Fun Fact: The film is a loose adaptation of the short story "Steel" by Richard Matheson. The only thing the film and the story have is the concept of robot boxing and a human "fighting" a robot. The story was one of the many short stories of Richard Matheson that got adapted into episodes of the classic TV series The Twilight Zone. Matheson is well known for several of his novels, being most recognized for Somewhere in Time and I Am Legend. Matheson's final writing work was the TV movie Duel (1971), which was based on a short story he written, and the TV movie was directed by a newcomer director named Steven Spielberg. Spielberg served as a producer of this film.
I have re-watched 'Real Steel' multiple times. And every time, I get PUMPED for the matches. Even though I know how each match is gonna end, I am still loud (Yeah!! Get 'em!!).
I can't believe this came out in 2011, I remember stumbling onto this on Netflix after release and loving it, it doesn't seem like that long ago tbh. Still waiting for a sequel, they had the potential for a brand new original franchise and never capitalized on it. Shame really.
I forgot how good this movie was
I've always loved the idea that if you think about it, this movie actually happened irl in a way, considering they used animatronics for the robots and mocaps for the fighting.
I’m so happy yall finally watched it!
Robot Rocky is how my nephew described it to me when he wanted me to take him to watch it. That won me over so i took him on his birthday. It's been one of our favorites since.
If I'm not mistaken, the Kid in this movie was cast as the Young 'THOR' in the first Thor movie. And he's in a bunch of other movies too, acting is too good for his age.
reel steel is one of my all-time favorite family movie. thank you for this
The little boy who portrayed Charlie's son in this movie is actor Dakota Goyo, who also portrayed the young version of Chris Hemsworth's character in Thor, which also came out in 2011!!!!
You cannot convince me that this isnt the movie "Over the Top" from the 80s, in disguise
OMFG nobody ever reacts to this classic!!!!
Thank you for this reaction. I was an extra on this film. We did most of our scenes in downtown Detroit in 2010. Crash Palace was filmed in a very dirty old auto factory. It was very hot, and the makeup department would come around periodically to reapply grease to our skin to make us even more sweaty and filthy. Cheering for long hot days on end was challenging, but Director Shawn Levy made us enjoy coming to work each day and giving 150%. I also worked on the final battle with Zeus. I remember how touching that bond between Hugh and Dakota felt even knowing they were acting. I actually teared up a bit during that scene. When you work on a project for days or weeks on end, you start to feel like the fantasy of film is your temporary reality. I’m so glad it is being well received all of these year later!
after rewatching this so many times, I just realised at the end of the last match, the commentator said "the champ is trying desperately to stay on his feet, but KENTON is relentless" Such a beautiful thing, it's like Charlie's finally on that big stage he's possibly been dreaming of his entire boxing career, but didn't get to that stage before the whole robot boxing thing took over.
Most people missed the point of the final round. Charley, Max's dad, was in his own way fighting the top fighter in the world. Meaning, Max got to see his dad take on and almost beat the top fighter in the world. Instead of the newspaper clipping, Max got to see what his dad was capable of in person. 💯
I’ve seen this movie a few times, but it just never really clicked with me. All the same, I’m excited to see the director re-team with Jackman, and Ryan Reynolds after Free Guy, for the upcoming Deadpool 3. That movie is gonna be a bonkers dream!
The director Shaun Levy also did Big Fat Liar, and for decades, I had no idea it's another take on The Boy Who Cried Wolf.
My first time watching this one!
I nearly always have seen already what you guys react to, but it's interesting watching something new because it's like a speed edit. With great editing it's not only a feeling of watching it with friends, but also a time saving way of getting most of the movie and impact of feels cut down. I feel like I've seen this properly now (even though probably a good 40+ minutes were missed out in editing). This might be a great way to watch movies that I would not normally see, and save time too!
Anyway, great little movie and fantastic reaction, thanks guys!
I love this movie! So fun!
this movie was a masterpiece
That's a good movie, I remember when they were here in the D filming it.
watch the movie With All Your Might, there Stallone also plays with his son, since the Live steel was shot according to his script but remade in a modern way
Real Steel & Pacific Rim are two of the best robot movies i've ever seen
4:13 that guy played The Blob in X-Men origins wolverine
Its pretty obvious that Atom is a sentient robot and also Zeus
I really wonder if Atom is like the A-10 in that world. An old design we can't manufacture anymore but that's still probably one of the best once modernized, that's why the conceptor of Zeus was concerned about it.
Another robot movie i think you guys are gonna love is Chappie, Hugh Jackman is in it. I saw the movie in theatre and i loved it. 😊
One of the movies that i loved to wacth and my fav scene will always be the fught againts zeus bc it shows that tech and stuff cant win against experience is just my thought.
2:17 IDKIYK, but when you mentioned a MCU reunion here, you left Kevin Durand out when the opening credits showed his name. He played The Blob in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the mutant with a fresh tattoo of a gymnast in the opening scene, and who is later shown as a super-morbidly obese boxer. In this movie, he plays the cowboy fella who Hugh Jackman’s character owes money to.
Kevin Durand was also in a 2010 movie with fellow MCU alum Paul Bettany (Jarvis/Vision) called “Legion” about the Apocalypse where they play the Arch-Angels Gabriel and Michael.
22:10
Everyone else: shocked, mortified
Stella: cracking up
Me: also cracking up 😂😅 same braincell fr
I absolutely love this movie. It's truly an underrated gem! Having a bad day? Put this on your screen and you will end up smiling ❤
Super fun thanks guys!
This movie is so cool. Underrated.
No way!!! This has always been one of my favorite movies. It has a lot of nostalgia for me. So excited to see you guys react to this!
Its been a long time since ive seen this movie and it was really fun watching it with all of you. I loved this movie when i first saw it and still do. Great reaction to all of you!!
Omg such a nice suprise! One of my favourity movies with all four! Thank you for a great time
Idk why but Atom reminds me of Toothless from How to train your dragon, maybe because of cute noises:)
P.S. Stella was so into the movie, she's so cute~
i remember watching this movie in my hight school years ago, such a great movie with great message! feels nostalgic
Lots of locations filmed in Detroit. The boxing ring is an old fire station that is now a fancy restaurant/hotel. The "zoo" is an old outdoor zoo on Detroit's island park, Belle Isle. There's a factory scene too inside the old Highland Park Model T Plant.
I only saw this film once when it released in theaters I don't remember anything about it lol.
Awesome movie. My son was 9 when we watched it in the theater. He and I still watch it together sometimes.
I have watched this countless times and played the mobile game xD Every now and then I will check if they are making a sequel ):
The mobile game is fire!!
"He's a bad father " the guy has never been a father, in court they said he signed over his rights to the mother right after the kid was born. Guy is still a bachelor with no kids in his mind.
That’s one of my favourite comfort movies. Love that you are reacting to it ❤
I remember the promotion for this movie hugh was on WWE Raw and bc of the whole boxer angle they had him punch somebody to allow a face to win a match
And another great thing about Atom is he able fight Zeus because he is a sparring bot, smaller, fast and he is built to take hits
Loved watching this movie in theaters as a kid, and seeing the characters in the film as well as the robot atom develop throughout the plot
When Max says your secret is safe with me at the end I always cry. Idk why
This is basically Rocky meets Rock'em sock'em Robots. The actor playing the son played young Thor in the film of the same name
You gotta have them see Rocky. I think they'd really enjoy it. It's an Oscar winning film.
I loved this movie!
Everytime I watch this movie it never fails to make me emotional. Hugh Jackman it's truly a awesome actor ❤
Only just started but had to come drop a recommendation based on what Hayley said at 1:50. If you want a MCU Reunion, I recommend "Chef", Jon Favreau's written, directed and starring passion project. Really good film, brilliant sound track and a steller cast
Sam Wilson/The Falcon, James Howlett/Logan Wolverine and Hope Van Dyne/The Wasp
yep
Never thought about it being a sports movie, but I'm glad they didn't hold back!
Actually, there was a short show called "Robot Combat League", and it was, hence the name, a robot fighting competition. Just was a lot less futuristic
Love the movie and the reaction, y’all. Keep goin! 😎
This is Rocky IV with robots. There's even the woman managing the fighter. The crowd cheering for the underdog.
Maybe you didn't noticed but Ricky is played par Kevin Durand, aka The Blob in X-Men Origins Wolverine, so this movie is ALSO a reunion for the other Marvel franchise ^^
This is definitely one of those movies that were only somewhat popular on release but in another decade will be rediscovered as a underrated "classic for it's time" movie.
(Around 1:02:26) Lmao anyone else remember seeing that Xbox 720 "Sponser Tag" in this scene, the good old days. 😂
Can I request Independence Day, Armageddon or passengers?
No, you can not.
When I first heard about this movie, I thought the premise was dumb and the trailer looks meh! I gave a chance because of Hugh Jackman and I fell I love with this movie, I think I saw it at least 6x in theater.
I request
District 9
Tron legacy
And Chappie
This is a incredible action movie.
This movie was literally based on rock em sock em robots.
Oh my lord, this is one of my favroite movies from my childhood. When i saw this video i almoat teared up lol
This movie is everything that the Rocky films had in story & drive, paired with the emotional beats of a fractured family film. Everything about Real Steel was perfectly formulated to make you feel like an actual audience member during that final fight, & I absolutely *_LIVE FOR IT._*
Either part by themselves is plenty fine as a standalone film, Robo Rocky or Deadbeat Dad getting his life together to be a better person. But combining the two of them together, & with as much believably real weight that Real Steel did? It's not even close on if you feel like you're there in the moment.
Because it walks both of these story beats alternatively, giving both of them the amount of attention needed without giving one more attention than the other. And I want to say it's entirely because of that fight with the cowboy guy where Charlie gets the shit beat out of him that it all works so well.
It's the classic story of the underdog all the way through, & you see Charlie & Max's relationship genuinely improve all the way up until then. Everything looks to be going great until Charlie's past mistakes come back to haunt him. It's a *_VERY_* real moment, & Charlie, for the first time in a LONG time, makes a decision for the sake of _someone else._ This isn't a game anymore, & Max suddenly could end up in very real danger now. Charlie doesn't want to do it, but knows it's the right thing to do.
So when he goes back to fight for Max, *_YOU_* want to see them get back together. *_YOU_* want to see Atom take on Zeus. *_YOU_* want all of them to make it to the end of this okay. Everytime Atom falls down, *_YOU WANT_* to scream "GET BACK UP, ATOM!"
That entire final fight never fails to give me genuine chills everytime I watch it, even well over a decade later. I love Real Steel, & damn am I ever happy seeing it get some recognition every now & then.
