What is the dress code in Investment Banking? Are there any strong norms? As an aspiring Investment Banker I'm coming from the other side of the argument than most people, because it never works well to be better dressed than your superiors, and I appreciate wearing business attire. Are coding and software skills becoming more and more important in all types of Investment Banking, or could you build a career in M&A without software skills?
Man, top marks for the editor - timing the clock in the corner to be in sync with the video was cool to see! (unless it was the other way around haha).
Excel and Powerpoint, with concepts that after a couple of years of work (nor to mention degrees) are always the same... That is sort of a dream for someone working in IT/ SW Development, where the tools used change so much in just a couple of years... yes, long hours, but you are doing Excel and PPT with concepts in Finance that don't change in decades...
So, on usual days, you spend your whole day in the office? I work in IB too, but I leave everyday at 6 pm, my friends too. In the long run, it's not worth it to spend all week in the cubicle, but I guess every person is different.
Lets do some calculation: After i watch the video , i assume you work around 13 hours a day and i have researched that the average salary for this position is $147.137. Minos 12 day off and the weekend so you might work 257 days/year. So 159338/(257*13) ~ $44/hour 🤨. Actually it is not high as i thought. I havent counted a bunch of tax too. But im not living in the US and this calculation is for fun only. If anyone have more experience or i wrong in anything please correct me below
Hourly pay for IB analysts is never going to be high. Analysts occasionally work 110+ hour weeks, and usually average around 80-100. Companies who pay out a higher hourly rate, would never let their employees work/get paid for 110 hour weeks like these big banks have to. I agree though, it should be higher.
Man all these pulling numbers from financial reports and previous presentations sound so tedious! I can't help but think that there has to be some new tech out there that can do this at a fraction of the time. I can imagine myself wanting to pull my hair out going through 100 pages of numbers looking for 1 number x.x

Ben, I have a question for you if you don’t mind answering it. I’m about to start a Master’s in Finance by the beginning of September and I was thinking of applying for a summer internship in an investment bank next summer (summer 2023). Do you think it is too late to apply or do investment banks usually accept students already in the masters (considering that most people will join the job market afterwards)? Thanks in advance! Great video btw, keep going!!
Amazing and insightful video!! Hi, I would like to work in an investment firm oneday as an analyst (either investment bank or private equity), and obviously since the industry is very competitive to get in, I was wondering if you could give me some insight about some odd jobs in the industry that could help me get a foot inside the door like a photocopie associate in the printing department, or a job in the mailroom , or a clerc. I might not get the analyst job but it would be good to get one of those odd jobs in the firm to start of with. Thanks
Hello out of general curiosity, what supplements do you take, such as omega 3, zinc, b12 stuff like this, you have a good overall health. Thx for answering
A lot of people traded with the wrong platform and lost a great deal of money. I was once a newcomer to this investing business and I was robbed of money which put me on a large debt. Then I found an investment company that changed my life financially. I thank God for this wonderful platform. SPACEX-MINERS has been certified by leading and reputable investors so you have nothing to worry about.
