Thank you for making this video! I took the same train, i loved it, visited the USA the first time, can't wait to go there again..i will take it again..clean, good price, not overfilled, good to enjoy the view and a nice helpful train driver
Thanks, this is really helpful to see. Will be taking the commuter rail into Boston regularly for work, so it helps to see you navigate South Station in-person
This video helped me figured out how to get to certain stations by the commuter rail! By the way, have you heard about the $10 weekend pass, it’s useful for unlimited travel to any zone for every weekend! :)
@@peacejones7648 There’s a section at north, south and back bay stations where you can purchase a $10 weekend pass. Most of the time, it’s not very easy when showing them to conductors, but some of the time gets easy, it just depends on the conductor.
The first train out of Providence is 4:15 AM, Boston side is 4:25 AM | Last train for the Boston side is 11:00 PM and for the Providence side 9:35 PM (this train starts at Wickford Junction in Kingston RI. Edit: these may have changed since I wrote these in the fall (editing this in 2023 summer) they also start and end at different times on weekends
Hello Matt, do you have any information on taking a bike on the commuter rail? I have using Amtrak Bos-Providence and the conductors have been giving me too much headache, and have been thinking about switching to MBTA.
It’s been soooo long since living there but when I commuted I believe bikes weren’t allowed during rush hour. So off-peak trains are fine I believe. I did look and I think that’s the case still. Here’s the link below for info I found. I hope it’s helpful. www.mbta.com/safety/rider-rules-and-regulations#
On this link shows the fare zones. Usually also positioned on the payment kiosks too. cdn.mbta.com/sites/default/files/2023-12/2023-12-17-commuter-rail-zones.pdf
@@mattsmoments2 I think it also is based on the destination/route, trains going to certain stations seem to board at certain tracks so multiple trains can depart at once without interfering with the other trains departing

Just took the commuter rail from forest hills to ruggles. It is very faster than the orange line. I should start taking the commuter rail
There ya go! I hope it works well for you.

@@Yoshiistic perfect! Thanks so much !
Great explanation! thanks!
You're welcome! Thank You for Watching
@@mattsmoments2 You have a very particular way to explain in detail! That's awesome!
I really need to make some 'trianride' videos for my channel, I think they're so fun to watch.
Couldn’t agree more to that
I like taking the commuter rail train
Me too
Im not really a fan of the motive power locomotives. They look dated, and i think they should get siemens ventures or just chargers
Thank you ❤
My pleasure
Thank you for the video, What time does the first and last trains running?
I’m sorry I don’t have that information on hand.

I’m sorry I don’t have that answer. When I took it I didn’t remember WiFi popping up.
Cool train but it was nearly empty 😁
I know right. Lol
The purple line all so have ski train
😭 5:03 Not me pausing to see if I recognize the guy in Mansfield
Lol 😂
who was it anyways
what if you start at forest hills and you want to go to ruggles, what zone should i pick?
Forgive me but I'm unsure of that answer. I'm sorry.
commuter rail its faster
Great video!
Not to be rude but just for reference Stoughton is pronounced sto-in or sto-tin
👍🏼
Me wondering what the zones mean for example zone 6
Excellent question.
Zone 6 means the fare zone you’re paying for. Each zone is typically a different price.
I should’ve asked this first but what’s is a zone? I’m not from Boston, I took a trip there so I kind of confused.
Typically a zone is based on distance and each zone is a different fare price. That’s all
It is.
@@mattsmoments2 but how do you know which zone to pick? is there a guide at the kiosk. I'm going from Boston to Salem. Thanks
On this link shows the fare zones. Usually also positioned on the payment kiosks too.

Is the Providence/Stoughton line always track 8 or can it be another number?
I believe it changes on the daily. Based off times on the commuter train.
@@mattsmoments2 thank you. Gonna be riding this in a couple weeks 🙏🏻
