    I just want to tell you that I really appreciate your lectures. I've taken several pharmacology courses and you explain things in such a way to make them much easier to understand.

    one thing that would of made this better is to give a full picture of the diagram you drew at the end so i can take a picture on my phone and learn it

    Greetings professor Fink !
    Regarding the genitourinary adverse effects of the beta blockers. Impotence (or erectyle disfonction) is the inhability to obtain or mentain erection for a certain period of time. We have learned that the parasympathetic is involved in penile erection and sexual arrousal. Now since we’re blocking most of the sympathetic response, we should get by default the parasympathetic block of effects, including sexual arrousal and penile erection. So does the adverse effect include only orgasm and ejaculation, or does it include erection ?

      A Beta-Adrenergic Blocker [sympatholytic] would be more likely to interfere with orgasm & ejaculation.

    But what is the mechanism for ephedrine causing CNS stimulation? Please reply.

    • @professorfink
      @professorfink  3 роки тому +1

      Ephedrine increases activation of both alpha & beta adrenergic receptors (by enhancing the action of norepinephrine). Its effects are similar to those of epineprhine.
