I’m thankful I came across this video & hope to learn more about homeschooling from you. I just got this curriculum through my daughter’s charter school (funds covered the cost for curriculum). She’s started middle school & this is my first time homeschooling. I literally feel so lost & definitely have no idea what I’m doing lol wish me luck & pray for me 😂
Just started with my 7th grade son. Using Miacademy and printing off everything to go with videos. Thus far it is early but I am hoping he is retaining the information. At the very least he is doing all of his assignments and completing/turning in his work after the online schooling...we pulled him from school for many reasons but one is not a single assignment was being turned in. So already moving in right direction!
This helped a lot thank you! My daughter will start kindergarten and I was considering Mia Academy and you answered all the questions that I had. I appreciate your honest feedback.
I do appreciate the opinions and thoughts. I think you are expecting too much for kindergarten though. Kindergarten children do not end the school year magically reading. They learn very basic 3-4 letter words and word sounds. Children do read much better when parents like you are super involved and read with them outside of the "classroom". Let's all remember that if you are a perfectionist who pushes your child too hard to be an overachiever, you will make them miserable. You have to go at their pace. Sometimes that means extra help or supplementing lessons with other resources. Also, you can always move ahead. If your child Excella at their level and finishes early, move on to the next one. Miacademy lessons are recommended for age but it is not a limitation. Parents are in total control of how fast or slow your child progresses. You can do lessons in the Summer, on weekends, and anywhere in between.
Can I just say I love your response. I totally agree with you. Every home runs their style and “school” differently and based off of the child’s needs, and strengths. There is no rush in learning something and that’s the beauty of homeschool. Having the freedom to make it your own. ❤️
It’s an online curriculum. We love it! I assign what I want and unassigned what I don’t want. It’s extremely customizable. I think perhaps she didn’t customize the curriculum and just went through the auto assigned work.
I would go with Liberty University online home school. Your child will get an actual high school diploma. The school is accredited. Since the school is affiliated with an actual college your child can get actual credits from the college that can be transferred to secular colleges and universities.
I highly recommend The Good and the Beautiful. I’m using it for 1st grade and me daughter improved so much so fast. I think for kinder-2nd the good and the beautiful is great.
I’m not sure you understand how standardized tests work. They test you on grade level topics as well as way above grade level content that way you have a range to know where your child falls. So do not base your curriculum on that alone.
MIA Academy is the lazy, cheap way to homeschool. You are robbing your kids of a valuable education by choosing MIA Academy. Instead, teach them. They need your time and devotion, not some computer screen program they will forget.
I strongly disagree. Using a computer based program is not the LAZY way. It’s A WAY to homeschool. I, as many other parents, are highly involved. I was involved while she did her school work. Otherwise how would I have known that I wasn’t a fan of this curriculum? I also taught her outside of this. But regardless of how people homeschool that is none of your business or place to judge. Please do not come to my page to discredit parents and their efforts. Your way is NOT the best way. And judgmental comments are not tolerated.
Disagree, some students need valuable time and devotion with one on one teaching. Other students learn best in independent settings. Some kids learn best with a combination of both. The reason the public school system sucks is that it forces you to have to learn the same as everyone else when that is not how we function. Example: I took online Geometry in high school over summer to catch up. I taught the entire class to myself via online instruction and was able to complete a year long program in only 2 weeks with full understanding. Bottom line is you need to figure out how your child learns and make the curriculum so that it gives them what they need
@@inthelight7771 We are using Miacademy. He does one full week with the assigned worked. Then I review his packets each weekend to see where he is struggling. Then I self teach a few things or reassign the assignment for him to do it again. it has worked very well thus far.
How did you do the ipad in the car? I heard you have to be connected to WiFi??
What website did you use to get your teacher id?

I’m looking for one too!
I have a son that’s in the 8th grade and I was wondering if this a real virtual school?
